Location is excellent for visiting Stratford, with just a short walk to the centre. Room was clean and topped up daily. Staff in the hotel were pleasant and did all that was asked

The price of breakfast is ridiculous for what it is(a buffet style), they’re are far better options in the centre of Stratford. Having to pay for parking when you’ve already paid for your room is also a nonsense, this should be included in the stay. The steam room wasn’t working meaning only the pool and sauna were available. This made it all a little cramped. Not enough beds or chairs are around the pool area, other spa hotels I’ve visited have a far better set out. The two young members of staff at the spa area on the Sunday morning were the least helpful people I’ve met in a while.

On arrival the receptionist was very inhospitable - rude and unpleasant which was very disappointing. On asking a second time for room directions (in a hotel we didn’t know) she was very, very abrupt.

In my view an excellent location. I had a nice double bedroom in the Coach House that is near the front of the hotel. Very nice and comfortable room with clean and fresh bathroom. Nice to have everything done well. I was able to park my car close to this part of the hotel as well so that helped. Staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast was fine. Swimming pool and spa facilities were all good (except steam room).

Steam room was so hot one day that I could not use it (and no one else was either). Sound insulation in the Coach House is not so great, but it did not prove too much of an issue for me.

Excellent Hotel, near the center of Stratford

Only one problem. The air conditioning in our room was not working. I reported it to reception, but nothing was done to fix the problem. It was during a heat wave, and it made sleep very difficult. However, I complained about the lack of action on the air conditioning on check out and was given a 20% discount. I'd rather have had a comfortable couple of nights' sleep, but I was satisfied with an apology and the discount. My complaint was dealt with professionally and courteously by the receptionist at checkout time. I would be happy to stay here again.

The hotel is in an excellent position for access to the town, within walking distance for all attractions. The breakfast and evening meal were excellent and staff very friendly and helpful and were able to meet my dietary requirements.. They have a designated station for gluten free breakfast items, which was very much appreciated.. The room was comfortable with complimentary toileteries.

Although the room was very comfortable there is a problem due to a speaker in the reception area being placed directly under the room we were staying in. The piped music for the hotel could be heard over the television in our room. We complained to staff in reception who turned it off thankfully. It was disappointing that we needed to do this as we have previously stayed in the same room with the same problem, which we were reassured would be rectified. An easy solution would be to remove the said speaker.

It's a lovely historic timber-framed Tudor building, the perfect base for our two day visit to Stratford. There are lots of Tudor features throughout the hotel and some excellent historic caricatures and cartoons on the walls of the corridors. (Such a refreshing and interesting alternative to the dull and incomprehensible 'art' that despoils the walls of many of the hotels we have stayed in). The reception staff were pleasant, professional and very welcoming. Our room was reasonably spacious with a huge very comfortable bed and the Tudor theme was again tastefully evident in the room furnishings. There was a facility in the corridor for refilling our water bottles, offering both still & sparkling water free of charge (a very nice touch). The bathroom had a nice powerful shower with a plentiful supply of nicely scented shower gel and shampoo provided. The housekeeping staff were really on the ball too, everything was tidy spotless! The location could not be more perfect! it was a gentle ten-minute walk over the bridge and along the picturesque bank of the River Avon for our visit to the Swan theatre. Walking back to the hotel this way hand-in-hand with my lovely wife, after the theatre each evening, was very gracious and romantic. The hotel breakfast was very good, with reasonable choice and good service in pleasant surroundings. Post-breakfast sessions in the pool, steam room, and sauna, set us up perfectly for a wonderful day of exploring Stratford-upon-Avon and its many historic charms, followed by another spa session in the late afternoon to soak away the aches and pains of the day and refresh us for our visit to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. A final visit to the pool. sauna and steam room, after breakfast on the morning we were leaving, was the perfect way to relax before the long drive home. We have stayed at some very nice spa hotels around Stratford in the past, but Alveston Manor will now be our hotel of choice for all future visits!

We could not fault the hotel, the staff, or the Spa facilities. The only thing we really didn't like, was having to leave to rejoin the mundane rat race of daily working life! The MacDonald Alveston Manor Hotel & Spa is now a treasured part of our wonderful memories of two beautiful Spring days in Stratford-upon-Avon and two most excellent evenings at its iconic theatres to see Edward II at The Swan Theatre and Hamlet at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre. We are already very much looking forward to our next visit, hopefully in the not-too-distant future!

The room was spacious and the bed and linen were excellent. A couple of bottles of water in the mini fridge would have been a pleasant courtesy for this establishment but it was empty. If you are visiting Stratford upon Avon the position is excellent.

The breakfast menu is a little limited and having to pay a supplement for avocado toast with a poached egg was taking a liberty. Paying a parking charge was another way of milking your customers for a few pounds which was an annoyance. The bathroom taps were useless( either too hot or too cold) and the shower head was not adjustable. Overall the bathroom for my room was just dated.

Lovely attentive waiter (tall. chap, glasses, most smiley) and nothing was too much trouble. He is a credit to your company. Lovely bed and crisp white linen and I liked the large armchair in the room. A very comfortable night's sleep. Excellent cod lunch too- exceptional. A wide variety of breakfasts choice too.

The charge for parking even as a hotel resident. I appreciate that townsfolk might abuse the nearby location of the car park, yet hotel residents should perhaps not have to bear the brunt of any additional charge here.

Ideally situated next to the river and walking distance to town. Pool facilities good but was always busy with local club members We could take our small dog with us.

As we had a dog we had to eat in a separate lounge area and eat off a low coffee table . Very uncomfortable trying to eat breakfast bent over

Breakfast was very good, hot buffet was indeed hot (which is unusual) and service very efficient, hot drinks served to table, tea in a teapot so well done on breakfast! Friendly bar Hotel overall a little 'tired', time for a revamp maybe

Parking charge - is it really necessary to charge an additional £7 per night to park a car in the vast hotel grounds? Room was uncomfortably warm, AC did not do much, the provided fan just circulated warm air
