Nice modest affordable place to stay in a walking distance from Tower of London. More of a hostel type in a way but with separate locked rooms :). Some nice food shops next door in case you need anything :) and a good grill café at the corner to have your dinner & desert :) . Friendly and helpful owner, clean tidy room, good opportunity to have a chat or a drink at the small terrace :)

Could not find it at first as probably no sign outside (at least I haven't noticed), but easily sorted when asked the man from the next door shop :)

Last minute booking, the staff is friendly, the location is perfect close to shops and transport. The room is clean and the bed comfortable, I recommend.

Unfortunately, the heating in my room wasn't working, but the receptionist was really friendly and tried to fix the problem. He even gave us a portable electric heater, which I appreciated. The downside was the breakfast – it wasn’t really there, but it's not a big deal because there’s instant coffee and tea. Also, the bathroom is on the landing, and that's where the toilets are too. Sadly, some guests aren't the cleanest, but that's not the hotel's fault.

Nice basic hotel in safe location for east London. Only 700-800m from two tube stations. Plenty of Asian eating places and sweet shops nearby. George Tavern music venue only 10 min walk. The hotel was clean and bright. Great bedroom with comfortable bed, TV, plenty of storage space, well lit and reasonably quiet. Shared bathroom was clean and had good shower. Nice kitchen with free tea/coffee and fridge. Breakfast was cornflakes, bananas and toast.. Secure outer door with key access. Very pleasant staff. Reasonable value for London

The bedroom key was difficult to operate. Initially unable to open the door. Lock needs replacing. I didn't feel confident locking the door when I went out for evening - the staff leave at 2300 and I was worried I would return to find myself locked out of the bedroom and no staff around. As I didn't have any valuables I left the bedroom unlocked which is not ideal

Stayed here for one night as I needed a place to stay after attending a concert at the o2. The hosts were so kind and even let be borrow a charger as my one had suddenly died, which I was really thankful for! I had a nice little room with a double bed to sleep in and had a great night's sleep.

The location could be a bit difficult to find. I only knew what door I was looking for because of another review, though there is a poster where Google maps takes you so it should be fine! Other than that I believe it's all good.

I came to race The Big Half. It surpassed my expectation as I paid a budget price! I was greeted by a charming helpful young man who was very helpful. The room was snug & lovely for a double room. Good facilities too. Shared bathroom was clean & tidy. Would definitely stay again.

It is a little hard to find if you're not familiar with the area as you have to look out for a door with the company name which leads into the property. Also would have liked to have had tea/coffee facilities but not a biggie to be fair!

Location is central enough, within walking distance of the river and tourist areas. This property is reasonably priced for a private room in London. There is a kitchen and small common area, and the room I was in had a desk to sit at and a small TV.

It was better than I expected given the cost. The walls certainly are thin though, so while I didn't have any issues, it might not suit a very light sleeper as you can hear noise from the hallway as people are coming and going.

It was nice to have something to eat everyday. Not lavish but something is better than nothing. The location was great 15 min walk to the Tower Bridge & London Tower.

I noticed there was no a/c so I guess the summer could be a bit hot. Our shower was clogged. I notified the staff who did nothing. I had to plunge it myself. Thank God it worked fine then there after.

I had an enjoyable stay, the staff is also very polite and friendly. The room and bathroom was clean and the location is fantastic, being conveniently close to tube stations and the Tower Bridge.

I noticed some dust in the wardrobe and found the bin to be quite small. Additionally, the windows were not noise-proof, which affected my sleep. It would also be a nice touch to provide disposable slippers for guests.

I like the location due to being near in Whitechapel and Aldgate East Station, very clean, cozy, and comfortable to sleep with. The instructions were very straight forward. Looking forward to book again when I come back to London.Great value for money. Excellent comfort and convenient location. Overall a great option for short and long stays! I'd highly recommend the City Lodge Shadewell in the future.

Nothing 😊

I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, and while checking in was tough, it was more so due to travel delaying my arrival. I also found the rooms within expectations, and were clean and comfortable.

There wasn't anything particularly bad, perhaps minor things like the lightswitch being in a weird place, or the bin being a bit small, or the outlet extension not working. Other than those it was good, as to be expected from their ratings.
