Great location. Many restaurant to choose from if want to dine out.

Breakfast wasn't great. Daughter wasn't allowed to swap sausage and bacon of extra egg. 3 of us all left our breakfast. Wasn't asked if everything was OK.

A good range of time allowed to check-in along with options to store keys if outside of those times. A good size room with en-suite, lovely and clean with towels and bathroom essentials supplied. A nice touch to have the fan on to keep the room cooler over hotter days. Comfy bed. Breakfast was good. A fine selection of toast and cereal with cooked breakfast which was served quickly and efficiently. Friendly staff around to help.

Although it did not affect me, as I was arriving late from attending a wedding myself, upon return to the hotel a live band was playing on Saturday night. This could be heard in the rooms until midnight. It was not a problem for me and it is made clear in the welcome pack that they have bands, it is just worth noting that you will hear this.

The room was clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. Bed comfortable and the shower 🚿 nice and refreshing. The room was warm without air-conditioning, but a fan had been put into the room, which helped to cool the room and was pretty quiet when on. Breakfast was good, with a selection of cereal to start with and a fresh cooked full English breakfast if you wanted. Very pleasant & helpful staff..

Be prepared that if you decide to book a Saturday night stop over, they have a live band that plays until around midnight, which could possibly keep you awake longer than you wanted..

The Oakland is a good, simple hotel. It is wonderfully clean, and is exactly as expected and as advertised. You get what you expect. The staff were lovely and welcoming.

However be very careful if your stay includes a Saturday night, because there is a live band in the bar/pub that is part of the building. It was unbelievably loud. We had a guess (wrong it turns out!) that they surely must stop at 11pm…but unfortunately it was midnight. In the rooms on the first floor it is deafening, even the radiator vibrates! You can hear everything, even the guy who shouted “one more song” at midnight and put our possible sleep off by another five minutes! A poster says that there is a live band every Saturday night through March so be warned.

I've stayed here several times before - and will happily stay again. Good room - comfortable and decent size. Good bathroom. Both clean and fresh. Helpful staff who will come over to reception immediately if otherwise busy at the bar.

No reflection whatsoever on the Oakland, but disappointed to find so many of the restaurants in the area have closed. Guess this is happening all over. Thankfully the indian one a couple of minutes walk away is still going and brilliant quality.

the room was very clean. the receptionist was very welcoming

inspite of informing we were vegan right at the beginning, and responding to your email, we were rather disappointed that even our limited menu could not be kept vegan. the mushrooms could have been done for us without butter. its not really very difficult to cater to those who are living a compassionate life as well as trying to save the planet for future generations with wonderfully equipped asda right across the road.

Hotel was excellent on price, friendly, help fullness, good supply of coffee, milk and toilet rolls . Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Very clean room . Breakfast was a sausage, 1 rasher, fried tomato, mushrooms, fried egg. Baked beans which you could ask to be altered for choice. Cereals, toast, butter, marmite etc were provided. Coffee, soft drinks serve yourself. Clean towels provided daily as required. Staff allowed me to have my brought food in my room on their plates and cutlery as they realised my mobility was poor and it was hard for me to get down to get food. Shops outside the hotel gives every take away you could want and a nearby Asda allows for extra shopping.

The problems are there is no lift. Two flights of stairs of 8 and 7 both with strong handrails. No luxury bath goods but liquid soap over sink and bath are provided. Shower is in bath so you must be able to get over bath side to get in. At night it is very lively outside as it is also a pub. Some days they provide entertainment in the evening. They do not serve any food other than breakfast . These are all comments overheard from other guests .

Room and bathroom was very clean and spacious with lots of storage space. Fan was provided and the TV was a very decent sized and well placed in the room. Mirrors were a good size especially at the dressing table and the stool was very comfortable. Shower pressure was great and easy to use. Pillows were very comfortable. Pub downstairs had a wonderful vibe and the live band were amazing as well as reasonable priced drinks(which they had a large range of). Ofsite parking was plentiful and reception staff were very helpful with directions to this when we checked in as we had parked in the wrong place to start with. Breakfast was very tasty and they had plenty of choices of food and drink.

Two very large dips in the bed, both sides so we slept on top of the duvet, upside down to try and get comfortable. No spare plug sockets so had to unplug the TV and fan just to charge our phones. Decor was quite outdated but everything was lovely and clean. One of the bedside lights flickered and buzzed so we just turned it off.

Nice warm welcome, very comfortable spacious room with all you need for my one night stay. I checked in too late for an evening meal and left before breakfast so cannot comment on the food. I did though have a very pleasant hour in the bar with some of the other clientele. Again very warm and friendly.

This is not a dislike, It was that the property is not the easiest to find. A short phone call to reception and I was guided into a large free car park less than 100 yards away from the hotel.

Very helpful staff. We had a medical emergency on the morning of our departure and did not think we would be able to leave the room by the allocated time. The staff told us to stay in the room as long as we needed until my wife was able to be moved. This goes beyond any expected customer service and we were extremely grateful for the way it was all handled. The hotel itself is very clean, the beds were comfy and the breakfast was excellent.
