The property was fantastic, gorgeous common areas and rooms, very comfortable bed, excellent bath tub (bathroom in general), and extremely kind and attentive staff. Parking was easy (expensive, but it's downtown SF -- I was happy to have a secure spot). Great value for the price, I would have expected to pay 50-100% more for a hotel like this downtown. Not much on the block, but it's a good central location nonetheless -- you're a short walk from Japan Town or Filmore, a mid-length walk from Chinatown / north beach or the museums, and a quick bus or cab from the park, Haight, the Mission, etc. I would 100% stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

The room itself, the location, the atmosphere, literally everything about this hotel was beautiful and amazing. Far exceeded my expectations, everything was gorgeous Bathtub was spacious, bed was super comfortable, everything provided was stunning. Staff were super helpful and kind. 12/10 will recommend everytime.

Parking was a little tight, BUT the fact it was gated and private (given the nature of the city) was fantastic and gave us peace of mind which greatly outweighed the snug parking. Don't let this turn you away from this place, it was so worth it.

We were very well taken care of during our stay at The Mansion on Sutter. The place is absolutely beautiful, feeling like a museum in addition to being a hotel. The staff was incredibly attentive to our needs. We were celebrating a birthday and were delighted to receive an upgrade, which made our stay even more special. We also discovered a fantastic gourmet Italian deli right in front of the hotel, and the food there was excellent. All in all, this was an amazing experience, and I would absolutely return in the future—something I’m already planning to do. Thank you to the very kind and generous staff for making our visit so memorable!

The breakfast could be a little better. It felt more like a 3-star breakfast. But they brought breakfast to our room suoer early the morning we left and that was very thoughtful.

Something went wrong with the dates of our reservation and they put us in a suite at no extra cost for the first 2 nights of our stay.

The last night we were transferred to a room that we were allegedly supposed to have been in, but we did not feel it was fitting to a premium king room that we booked. It felt like we were in servants quarters. Was very oddly placed near the stairwell and an office. Very stuffy and a bit cramped. We did not complain as they had given us a suite the 2 days before.

This is such a special, historical place. The staff was so kind and welcoming. They even upgraded our room and put extra touches to make us feel welcome. Very comfy bed and luxurious bathroom.

Only suggestion would be to add more easily-accessible plugs in the room - but not a big deal and understandable given the historic nature of the property.

The breakfast was great! Many options and the food was fresh. The attendant was so kind and was the best barista! We had a couples massage in our room. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and were extremely attentive. Well worth the money. I highly recommend a stay here.

Everything was great!

We were upgraded for free since they had lots of availability. The house is absolutely stunning. I booked a room here on a whim because we walked past it and it looked so beautiful on the outside. I was so happy to discover it was a hotel!

Parking is expensive but has to be done in San Fran

Really nice property. We were upgraded to a larger room on the first floor, due to the lifts being out of order. Not great with a 30 kilo suitcase. However appreciated the upgrade.

Staff were very friendly.

The place is special. AMANDA made us feel special and is very professional and service oriented Will definately stay again and recommend to all. The Continental breakfast was available from 7am right up to lunch hour in the front parlor. Glass of wine on arrival. Fresh fruit, soda and chocolates, in our room. The soda was 2 cans of coke, I suggest offering plain sparkling water as well as many people don't drink sugary sodas. However I am certain if I had asked to swap the drinks it would have been happily done.

Nothing. However, constructive critic: Shower door seal and hand towel rail hanging loose so minor maintenance for this historic mansion. Due to staff shortage from Covid 19 The restaurant trades only 3 nights a week, very limited seating and does not cater paying guests or any room service. On the evening we arrived after travelling all day there was no seating availability and there is no in room dining service at all. However this made us go out and explore the surrounding area and we found lovely little fushion restaurants within 15 or so minutes walk. The bar fridge in the room and our friends room sits directly on the carpet so the door rubs against it to open/ close. If the fridge leaks the lovely carpet would be soiled.

Elevator was down, did not cause me a problem but it might have created problems for other guests.
