The aesthetic, the fact that it doesn’t resemble any other hotel I’ve stayed at, the attention to detail in the room, the homey touch, the tall ceilings in the room as well as the shower, everyone at the front desk was super friendly, patient and understanding. Same with the restaurant/bar workers. They made me feel special every day. Extremely generous with their free breakfast vouchers. Pretty niche but it’s right across the street from the convention center which was perfect for my work trip.
The expensive incidental fee was unexpected, but they return it to your card after checkout so no big deal. Valet parking prices are pretty insane, but they keep your car safe, on site and enclosed in a private garage so it’s not for nothing. Also the valet staff are super friendly.

I was attending a Convention Center event and many other local hotels were full. As The Slate had vacancies I was suspicious -- the Center is directly across the street -- so surprised to find myself with a top-notch host. Food was very good and service [on the first day] excellent. Comfortable, well-appointed room.
Soap dispenser in the shower was empty; how does housekeeping miss that a quart bottle with a level indicator on the side needs refilling. On the second day in the restaurant, it was hard to attract any server's attention (think the guy who finally waited on me was a busboy) and once I finally ordered, delivery as VERY slow. Room layout was a bit odd but possibly constrained by the original construction.

Love the theme, very clean, great location within 3 blocks of 16th Street Mall and steps from the Convention Center and the train. . Very friendly and helpful staff. Public parking available close by. The lounge areas were comfortable and welcoming.
Parking was difficult and confusing, it was hard to find the entrance (wasn't clear signage). Nice that public parking was close because I don't like valet parking. But very expensive. Breakfast was delicious but small portion for expensive price. Wish more information was available on-site about what was nearby and how to get there. I felt safe during the day but wouldn't want to be walking around at night.

The location was perfect for work. Rooms were on the small side but comfortable and we had a room on a courtyard, which made it very quiet. Walking distance to restaurants, the state capitol, and so forth. Very convenient.
No parking at all, unless you pay for valet parking or use a pay lot, both of which are very expensive. The front desk struggled with my tax-free work credit card and this ended up being the first time I have had to fill out two pages of paperwork to have the tax-free status recorded. Smaller, less expensive hotels have just taken the tax number off the back, so that was frustrating.

I loved the old school building repurposed into a hotel. It was conveniently located to walk or take the bus without being in a busy part of the city. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I did not use the on-site restaurant, but liked that it was open later if I needed to. The little store was great for grabbing snacks or a light breakfast without leaving the hotel. The hotel gym had a lot of the things you could need for a quick workout as well.
The AC units can be a little noisy at night, if you are someone who is easily bothered by sounds.

Dinner at the bar/restaurant was excellent; staff very helpful; everything was super clean.
There were some design features that could be more thoughtful - having to step on a stool to reach the chain to pull up and down the room darkening shade was kind of an issue; the bright blue temperature light on the mini-fridge made a dark sleep room impossible; the shower head/hand wand position was far too high for a short person; it was better suited for taller individuals. These are not major things, but given the rest of great things this hotel has to offer, it would make the experience that much better.

Clean place, very friendly staff. Great location and on the cheaper side that close to downtown. Overall a very pleasant experience; we would definitely stay there again.
The room we were in was probably the smallest I've ever stayed in. Also, weirdly, you cannot get free coffee in the lobby. You have to pay like $4 for the same coffee you could have brewed in your room from the restaurant. Not sure if the restaurant review should be included, but service was also very slow (inexperienced on all fronts; I don't think it was being intentionally inattentive) at the restaurant and they had a waitress without bar experience bartending so she wasn't a huge help recommending things when they also didn't stock the alcohol to make my very basic go-to drink or back-up go-to (did not have Chambord, Coconut Rum, or Pineapple juice - I'm not asking for anything off-the-wall).

A short walk from the free 16th Street Shuttle which was a nice surprise. Room was fantastic with tons of light, a very comfy bed, a small refrigerator/microwave and hotel provided shampoo/conditioner/lotion that was so amazing that I snapped a photo so I can find it for my home. Dinner in the Teacher's Lounge was delicious and priced similarly to other restaurants in the area. Overall a great experience and I'm 100% likely to stay here again when I return to Denver.

I loved the details! Like the wallpaper in the bathrooms and the darkening shades. Thoughtful touches and the shampoos smelled amazing! We had a great server in the restaurant for dinner. The valets were wonderful as well! I loved having the choice to park in a locked garage. That made me feel so at ease during my stay. We were there for graduation, sharing the photo from outside the property below. It was perfect!
The only thought for improvement that I had was the dress for staff, the servers had uniforms and were great, same for the valet, but some of the other staff had some very eclectic wardrobe choices. It just didn’t seem to fit with the property. Which was lovely! That’s just my opinion though coming from a hospitality background.

The Slate is in an ideal location for downtown fun, especially if attending a conert or ballgame at Coors field. Valet parking was easy to access, and the 16th Street shuttle is just three blocks away. The school theme is really fun, esepcially for those of us old enough to remember things such as typewriters and card catalogs. The breakfast at the Teacher's Lounge was very good - excellent service and a nice variety of offerings, including options for gluten-free folks. Very quiet.
The room was a bit small, and the shower temperature was quite variable.
