Great location, very reasonably priced for the area and amenities available. Basic motel room with a friendly front desk staff. Decent pool. Fantastic breakfast/lunch spot right next door.

We were placed in a separate small building off of the main hotel rooms. The windows seemed very old so temperature control was difficult. Bathroom window let in tons of heat, had to keep bathroom door closed. No microwave in room, had to walk back towards the front desk by the ice machine to use the shared microwave.

Super beautiful place and LOVED the pool! Our room was beautiful, even better than we expected! Staff was super kind and helpful when checking in. The pool area was beautiful and very clean. Our bed was soooo comfortable and the bathroom was really nice with great toiletries and everything that we needed. Would definitely come back and stay here again!

The AC unit was pretty loud so we turned it off while sleeping but the room still stayed cool, so it wasn't an issue. We did have a palmetto bug/cockroach in the room at night, we think it got in because we noticed a hole in the wall under the sink in the bathroom, but it was just the one and I think they're pretty common in Florida.

We return to Sunset Inn every year for a clean and comfortable stay at a price we can afford. Excellent location! Refrigerator and Keurig coffee maker in rooms. A short walk to Lorelei's and Islamorada Brewery-Distillery and about a mile walk to Florida Keys Brewing Co.

Just that the bathroom is tight, and we had to do Twister-type contortions to reach the toilet paper on the holder and shower area isn't engineered well and so the glass wall isn't protective enough so the water collects on the shower stall lip which is not angled correctly so the water drips all onto the floor. Used up lots of towels on the floor! There was wasted space in the closet area that could have been used to make a bigger more user-friendly more spa-like bathroom.

It was basic but clean. It is very much a motel but it’s quite a cool one, and the bed was comfy. What more could you want. The staff were so friendly.

There were a few bits where they could do with a lick of paint. The road outside was busy and noisy and there was no crossing to get across to the other side which would’ve been helpful as there’s a fast food place opposite and also Florida Keys Brewing Co just a 10 minute walk down on the opposite side. We didn’t sleep amazingly because of the noise from the road. I wasn’t overly struck by islamorada however some of the local restaurants and bars made it and it’s a good stop on the way from key west to Miami.

One night stay on our way to Key West. Location convenient to walk to bars and restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large and extremely well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was very clean and well equipped. My room had a front door and a back door with access to the Pool which was lovely and very warm (February) Breakfast at Mangrove Mikes next door was excellent. I recommend this hotel although next time, I would ask for a room located at the back rather than the front facing the road!!

Although I slept well because I was very tired and the bed was very comfortable. The front of the hotel is close to Highway 1. I could hear the passing traffic.

Clean and very well laid out room, big screen TV, bathroom, and amenities. When booking late and finding few accommodations that fit my frugal budget, I figured I’d give the Sunset Inn a shot. I was not expecting much, nor needed much for just a one night stay. But, I was incredibly surprised and pleased. Particularly in comparison to where I stayed in Key West for a couple of nights and was returning home from. Since I had not been down in the Keys for decades, I wanted to spend one last night on Islamorada. And I can’t say enough about the staff, Rachel & Claudia, who checked me and out. Both who are very personable and wonderful women. But the clincher to the overall fantastic stay at the Sunset Inn, was me being a dope, and leaving a very important item in my room. The housekeeper found it and immediately turned it in, so Claudia could call and catch me within minutes of my departure. Talk about exceptional service and saving the day!

The Sunset is a basic motel style property, but knows how to play to her strengths. Very welcoming, very clean and everything was functional. For us, location was a key requirement. The Sunset was a perfectly located base for us to explore and it was within walking distance of Mangrove Mikes (breakfast) and Lorelei (dinner, drinks, live music)

Shower pressure isn't great, but was adequate. We would have liked Mugs/Cups for our tea/coffee instead of cardboard throwaway containers.

The pool was heated and not crowded, the room was very clean (smelled and looked clean) and we had no problems with the AC. The room layout was nice and there was no issue with finding a parking spot. Lots of string lights outside and good ambience. It is right off the highway, but the pool is in a courtyard so it doesn't feel exposed. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had some activities cancelled and went to the front desk to ask for recommendations. She printed out our hotel booking confirmation to use for free entry into a park nearby. I loved all the lamps around the room to get plenty of light without overhead lights. Accessible outlets and a large full length mirror! Hair dryer worked great and they weren't stingy with towels. Housekeeping is by request.

The bathroom was the biggest down side, the shower was backed up the whole time (we didn't say anything because my boyfriend has some experience and said it wasn't an easy fix and they would probably have us move rooms, so I just dealt with it). We had to wait a few minutes between showers to not run out of hot water. The bathroom kind of looked like a "handyman special" but the toilet and sink were clean and worked. Other reviews mentioned the noise from the road, but when you have the AC unit on at night you can't really hear it. I brought a sound machine just in case, but I didn't really need it. Overall I think it was a good value for the area!
