We were a group of family and friends in Portland for the weekend to attend my daughters PHD dissertation, the hotel was in a perfect location, easily accessible to all the attractions, restaurants, shopping, and history within the Old Port area most of which was walkable but where walking wasn't an option the Hotel offered 24/7 shuttle service to drop off or pick us up. Our double room was beautiful and spacious with comfortable bedding. The staff were EXCEPTIONAL always available with a kind word and smile to assist with any inquiries we made; even offering umbrellas as it rained most of the weekend. The Whiskey lounge was warm & comfortable for sipping on our morning coffee as much as for an evening of whiskey tasting. The onsite restaurant and Spa services were exceptional. Our stay at the Portland Regency was amazing! We look forward to returning soon!

The location is great. The room we had had a partial view of the water. Loved That. The room was clean and comfy. Could use a little updating (paint, get rid of scuff marks on walls) but other than that it was a really great room. We also had a balcony that we could sit on that overlooked one of the streets with shops and restaurants and that was a BONUS! We were able to sit outside on the balcony, enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun set.
The Armory bar was closed in the hotel and we were looking forward to experiencing it since we read about it in Conde' Nast magazine for it's martini's! I didn't like the cost for parking. I thought it was a little expensive but appreciated the valet service.

We loved everything about our stay. The only thing that wasn’t “perfect” was the waiter in the breakfast restaurant. He was rude and loud when we asked about gluten free options. He told us the menu was incorrect and we could not get the gluten free breakfast advertised. He was loud and abrasive and leaned into our personal space in a very uncomfortable way when we questioned this. We were so caught off guard, and have celiacs disease, so we ended up leaving the restaurant and went to our massage appointment hungry. It was a disappointment.

We were on the 2nd floor right over a street with cars of people parking and getting out making noise. It was worse because of being a Saturday night before Halloween. So there were lots of revelers outside all night. Also, you could hear anyone else showering/using the water in rooms next to and above us.
The room was tight, but there would have been room for a small chair. There was nothing to sit on once we used the only bench for suitcases. $30 a night for valet service and we did all the work loading and unloading at the door.

This is truly a gem of a hotel right in the heart of the Old Port section of Portland, our second time here. It is just lovely, well appointed throughout and the staff could not be more welcoming. The bed was ultra comfortable. We had a wonderful breakfast in the dining room. Although we did not check out the Whisky Bar or the Armory Lounge, they are quite beautiful and definitely would be a great way to spend a few hours. Wish we had more time available to us, but our stay was just one night sadly.
Wish there was a shelf under the sink for toiletries and such; the conditioner dispenser in the shower was not working well.

*Fantastic staff in ALL areas.. reception and breakfast staff were exceptional..Isaac, Briana, AJ, Margaret and Johnny. *Breakfast..attention to detail and remembering guest preferences. *Wonderful old building (once an armoury) and the historic ambience of dining, lounge and bar areas. * Restful and noise-free rooms, great for sleeping. * Genuine caring that each guest was looked after like family.

The property is very nice and has a friendly atmosphere. We had a small room with a nice view of the cobblestone street below. Clean and well-kept, comfortable beds. The only complaint is that the single cup coffeemaker was a bit off and overflowed one cup while only half filling the other. Everything else was great, and the breakfast in the morning was excellent. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and will return for later visits myself.

The location was tremendous. Right in the middle of Old Port. I don't know if I got lucky, but my room was huge and had a soaking tub and large walk-in rain shower. The pillows were very large. The bed was comfortable. I had a refrigerator, microwave, slippers, robe, it came with bottled water and a Keurig and supplies. There was a fireplace. Also, a nice little sitting nook. I wish I would've gotten names, but the staff was great. One African American gentleman at the front desk, and the concierge on duty during the day on 8/30 specifically. I just couldn't get over the restroom, definitely the nicest I've ever stayed in. I didn't use the tub because I'm a germaphobe, but it looked clean anyway.
These nice hotels never have swimming pools and I wish they did. The blinds on the windows were okay, but I wish there had been blackout curtains. The building is old and it shows it...the walls are scuffed up, the carpet is worn, and it smells a bit musty. The checkout time of noon is better than most places who do 11. However, my flight wasn't until 5:30 but they could not accommodate my late checkout, but they did accommodate my early check in so you can't win them all!

Great hotel located in Old Port. Is very close to restaurants, shopping, activities, and the Portland Pier. Check in was a breeze. Front desk staff was extremely helpful. We were slightly early and they were able to fit us in and gave us an upgraded room. Hotel is quiet and rooms are nice with comfortable beds. Has the old school charm that is missing from some of the newer hotels. Nothing bad to say - I’d definitely stay here again.

Loved the classic older building and grounds which were beautifully maintained. Location was perfect. Easy walk to restaurants and attractions. They also had a free shuttle which was a nice surprise. The food was great at their restaurant and service was very good. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Overall fabulous.
Nothing! It was lovely.
