unfortunate NO BREAKFAST on Friday !!! at least Continental ??
Specifically was celebrating a birthday - Never communicated - at Dinner was told again, with Reservation and at Dinner - Again NO COMMUNICATION - NOTHING Special - !!!!!! cupcake with Candle ??? dinner a disaster - slow service, finished meal before we got drinks , Both Entree and desert requests not available - should tell people when they sit so not to get excited only to find not available even on limited menu. Since we were celebrating tried not to let all this bothers us !!! NO HOT TUB no pool - disappointing ....

The thanksgiving meal was scrumptious, and the Victorian setting was beautiful. We enjoy New Mexico History. Taking us back in time, this was a wonderful and educational experience for our children and us. The golf course walk through the woods was spectacular. We came across deer and horses. It was a great escape.
Short staffed, so there was not much time to ask about its history, and we had to read through several pages to learn of its history. The walls are pretty bare throughout the Hotel, so there is no history as you go along as seen in other historic hotels. There are a few pictures here and there on the walls, but mostly of outdoor sceneries. However, those who worked the dinning room and front desk were very friendly, but really have no time to speak of its history.

Beautiful rooms with an excellent view and very clean.
All the staff were extremely rude except one bartender, he was very friendly and welcoming. Immediately upon check-in the lady checking me in complained that I had booked through a third party service and how much she hated it. There was also another gentleman behind the counter that was very rude when we asked basic questions. Besides the staff, the place was great.

Beautiful setting for a historic property. Convenient to town. Staff is friendly & helpful.
The Lodge sent me an email two days prior to check in inquiring as to whether I wanted reservations for dinner. I replied immediately and said YES: both nights at 7 pm, When we presented ourselves to the dining room, they had no record of the reservation. Additionally the Lodge called me the day of check in and asked if we wanted to make dinner reservations. I did tell them YES, and had sent an email saying so! There must be some breakdown somewhere..

We liked the location of the place as it gave us a panoramic view of the mountains. The lodge has a warmth that accentuates the whole place and its staff.
I didn’t enjoy my dinner because the menu was limited to what they offered that evening. We did see other menus on the website and we thought we had choices. We did travel with my daughter and she wasn’t able to enjoy any of the food we ordered from the menu. My wife did enjoy the filet mignon and my daughter and I ordered the gnocchi. Not very appetizing.

The old hotel is wonderful and sits on the top of the hill at Cloudcroft. It's worth climbing the tower to see the surrounding area. The rooms are nicely renovated and very comfortable. The staff welcoming customers at the front desk is outstanding.

Staying at The Lodge felt like stepping back in time into a bygone era of luxury and leisure.
No bellboy service. We were traveling light so it was okay to have no help with luggage. Had we had larger luggage it could have been challenging to climb stairs with our baggage.

Such a charming and beautiful lodge tucked away in the mountains. George checked us in quickly, gave us the keys to the lodge tower and told us we might be able to catch the last light of sunset from the tower if we hurried. We did and we were not disappointed. We caught the last of a gorgeous sunset and the cool history and workmanship of an old lookout tower. The hotel is a blast through the past with amazing carpentry, chandeliers, fireplaces and vintage furnishings. It was well appointed with enough modern touches where it didn't feel like somebody's estate sale or an antique mart. We were impressed.
The altitude affected us and huffing up the stairs with our suitcases required a rest! If there's an elevator, we didn't know where it was and it wasn't mentioned at check in.

The atmosphere of this location is amazing. It is a very old, but well maintained space. The history and unique ambiance was well worth the price. Our children loved exploring the tower and the hotel feels a bit like you have gone back in time. Definitely NOT like all the other cookie-cutter hotels out there. This place was a destination unto itself. So cool!!
The restaurant on site books up quickly, but we were able to find a local brewery with pizza and no wait for a table, so that wasn't a big problem. We were also warned in advance to make restaurant reservations if we wanted to eat there. However, the on site restaurant didn't have breakfast hours during the week, only on Saturday & Sunday, which was disappointing.

Beautiful historic building. Very friendly staff. Cloudcroft had a small town feel which I liked. Prices in town were very reasonable. Even saw some deer right on the property. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but it was nice to have coffee and rolls and fruit in the lobby. Also liked the comfortable chairs in the lobby. Nice to have real glasses and bottle water in the room
The last few miles to the Lodge road wasn't very good,
