The public areas, including the parking lot, were immaculate. The vending machine was well stocked. The TV was enormous. Spacious bathroom with very hot water. Nice mix of pillows.

The bed was very uncomfortable. It felt like a very old, well worn mattress with rough sheets. I got very little sleep trying to get comfortable. The room is too small for the size of the TV. While the rest of the room looked clean, the baseboards were visibly filthy, which makes you wonder about the rest of the room. The lights were harsh. And there was some confusion at the front desk and someone tried to enter my room shortly after I checked in. It wasn't a guest; but all he said was that the front desk said the room was empty, not that he was there to do anything. I'm glad I remembered the security latch and that I hadn't left for dinner yet. I piled my bag in front of the door for the rest of my stay, just in case. There was WiFi, but no internet.

Be prepared for a compact room No breakfast (similar hotels have one) Small corridors and thin wall OlD hotel construction I booked standard queen rm for 2 nights, but on the 1st night they gave me rm#403, queenbed, TV not android, no chair and table, cramped, unlike one in the pic. I made a complaint the next day and they gave me the std queen room as per the picture. Felt like being cheated for the 1st night. Dont stay in rm 403!

Good room, small but completely suitable. Desk staff found my missing cellphone, just knew from how I was walking around; example of how quietly attentive they are to stuff. Building was nice. Is the entire balustrade along both streets real marble? We think so.

Not much. We ran out of TP. Ice machine is slow.

With the free parking, the Grand View Hotel is an excellent value for the price. It is a decent hotel way out in Flushing near the Mets stadium and subway/buses to rest of New York. The neighborhood is very NYC -- grubby, diverse, and lively...not for NYC-haters. The hotel is reasonably well-kept, and everything in my room 302 worked, including a good shower with hot water. Unlike the "pod" hotels there is a desk with chair so you don't have to sit on bed. It was a 15-minute walk to subway (buses available outside hotel) with direct service to Grand Central, though it takes 40+ minutes to get there. The streets are busy until midnight and feel relatively safe. A large grocery store and fast-food joints are 2 blocks away, plus there are lots of food places around, some very authentically Asian.

You have to stop at the front desk and re-code your room card almost every day. Not a big deal -- it's fast and it's a good thing that they are checking the guests.

Although the rooms are small it is enough for a couple, the bed and bathroom are spacious and comfortable, you can tell that there is a good cleaning, for the price it is perfect, transportation is very easy between the hotel and the city, excellent if you want to pay something cheap just to sleep while you spend a few days in NY.

I got a room on the 4th floor, sometimes the elevator is a little slow because there is only one elevator for everything. The coffee maker in my room didn’t work, the wifi didn’t work well.

We liked the location. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel. 2 stops away is the metro station and the center of some sort of "Chinatown" where you will find everything. 3 minutes walk away you also find supermarkets, restaurants, etc. The place is clean and has everything you might need (hairdryer, iron with a little table, a safe, fridge) We really loved the place and said that we would definitely return if ever in NYC again. The room is fairly big, with closets and enough storage room. The AC worked miracles.

Not all the staff is English proficient, and we had some trouble with one guy understanding each other. Maybe for some might be a turn-off that you have to ask for room cleaning, but it wasn't a problem with us. The bed is not that big, but we had enough space. Being on the main street side, it does get noisy sometimes.

All was well and as expected.

The hotel could be alot more welcoming. The hotel lobby did not seem inviting at all.

it was close to the grocery store. just right behind the hotel across the street along with local fast food joints that are also right across the street. staff is very helpful. room service is great! fast. especially night. Goldy is an amazing worker! snacks are provided downstairs in the morning!
