We took a road trip and stayed at about 18 hotels along the way. This one was the best! There are all kinds of rooms to choose from. We booked a cabin and two prospector rooms. The homey feel and Mt. Rushmore-inspired decor put us in good spirits. Everything was very cozy and comfortable. There is a playground and pool for the kids, but their favorite thing was to climb the hill behind the lodge. The restaurant is also great. I recommend the elk burger. Breakfast is also delicious there. We had some car trouble on the morning of our departure and the owner and staff were so kind. They recommended a mechanic and made sure we were okay. This place has the feel of a small town and staff that truly care about the lodge and it's guests.

The location is close to Rapid City and Keystone, so centrally located to Black Hills activities. Breakfast in the on site restaurant had many options and reasonable prices. It was all good. The King Bed cabin was clean and spacious. Housekeeping restocked whatever we needed without being intrusive. The outdoor heated pool was perfect for lounging on a stress free atmosphere.

The restaurant opens at 7am and closes at 9pm so getting an early start to fill up before hitting the trails or getting a late dinner are out of the question.

The location was great, just minutes outside Keystone and close to all the major attractions around Mount Rushmore and perfect for exploring the Black Hills. The cabins were cute, with a nice covered porch outside, and it suited us fine for the 5 days we stayed. Ours had a mini fridge and coffee machine, ice was provided, cleaning service was available, and there was air conditioning. The pool was heated, and was great after a long day of sightseeing, and the restaurant on the property had excellent food. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

There was no fan in the bathroom, so the steam from the shower warmed up the room a bit, but the air conditioning helped manage that. Also, the property is right on the 16A Highway, so it was a bit noisy with traffic, but only during the day.

We did not eat breakfast there in the restaurant so I cannot give it a rating. I liked being a little outside of the busyness of downtown Keystone.

From our porch you could hear traffic on the highway, but fortunately in our rooms you did not hear the traffic. There was also not a left turn lane from the highway so you turned left in the fast lane of travel. Our cabin was not an individual cabin but a duplex cabin. Luckily for us, the people in the adjoining cabin were quiet.

The meals at the restaurant. The cabin was spacious and the rooms were comfortable. Even the pull out sofas were nice.

The WiFi was spotty to non existent. We were given a grill but the propane tank was empty. When I called they said it would be there shortly. I had to ask again the next day because it still hadn’t come. We had to change plans due to our late meal, since we couldn’t grill as planned.

Very conveniently located to reach Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Yet not too close to the bustle of Keystone. It is situated next to a highway, which concerned us at first. But it really quiets down at night and it didn't negatively impact our sleep.

We had a squirrel attack the exterior wall, gnawing on the wood for several hours our last night there. But we don't fault the facility. When you are in the woods, the critters can make themselves pests when they want to!

Beautiful and unique property. Cabin was very well taken care of. Pool was heated enough that swimming was possible, even when it was 50 degrees outside. The kids loved it!

Bathroom could use a heat lamp for the colder months. It was freezing the first two days we were there. Wood top above fire place gets extremely hot. Didn’t want to leave fireplace on for too long in fear it would start a fire.

The check-in staff was outstanding! Super friendly, professional, and accommodating. The cabins are charming and quaint, while offering every comfort. The pool and grounds seemed first rate. The restaurant (dinner and breakfast) was simply outstanding. We had the bison cutlet and game sampler. Every dish and flavor were top shelf. And the whole experience was surprisingly affordable. This is a true gem in the region.

The area was beautiful and well set up to be family friendly. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. The rooms were comfortable, clean and cool. The pool was refreshing and cool. Overall, 2 thumbs up.

My biggest complaint would be the restaurant. The food was average at best, I felt the price for the food you got was a little high. It definitely felt like the menu hasn't been changed since the 50s.

The property is really cool!! Lots of rooming options and EXCELLENT restaurant!! Really clean and friendly staff!

We were fine cause we brought our own fan, but the property is on the main road, so traffic noise is really loud. It does have a window A/C and fan, so hopefully it would be enough for you… I’m a very light sleeper so always need a little more white noise… otherwise cute place.
