Breakfast at the hotel offers a somewhat limited (but satisfying!) selection of options with the staff going above and beyond to ensure we had exactly what we wanted. Room sizes are large and well furnished (if a bit dated). The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The restaurant and winery on the property are excellent.

The rooms are pricey are due for an upgrade. The breakfast & wine/cheese trays available to guests are the only food options at the hotel so if you need food after hours you'll have to order in or leave the property. Additionally, phone/cell service can be spotty at best here and the WiFi isn't the greatest.

The Convent is an iconic small hotel located in the beautiful Peppertree Vineyards of Pokolbin ..Although showing its age somewhat it remains a diamond location and golden property ..reminiscent of a private European Guesthouse the rooms are quite compact however there are larger ones available at a price . The staff are just lovely and treat guests as returning family members.. willing to meet any request .. Breakfast is limited but only the highest quality produce is used and te service is wonderful ..As a frequent traveller , I highly recommend a stay at The Convent and can t wait to return . ps dont forget the private garden has a tennis court and small pool for guests exclusive use .

There is nothing negative to say about this wonderful small Hotel

My recent stay at The Convent in Hunter Valley was nothing short of enchanting. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of tranquility wash over me, thanks to the stunning surroundings filled with lush vineyards and beautifully manicured gardens. ### A Warm Welcome As I stepped into the property, I was greeted by the friendly staff, who made me feel right at home. Their warm smiles and genuine hospitality set the tone for my entire stay. I loved how they took the time to share stories about the history of the convent, adding a personal touch that made my visit even more special. ### Cozy Accommodations My room was a delightful blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. The spacious layout allowed me to truly relax, and I especially enjoyed sipping my morning coffee on the balcony while soaking in the breathtaking views.

You are greeted with a fountain that's hiding this magnificent old convent. You walk in to be greeted by stunning art Deco decor in the hallway that opens to an opulent sitting area that's full of magnificent art Deco pieces. Then you're taken to your suite which has a sitting room as you enter that leads to the bedroom with 2 extra large single beds and oh boy they're comfortable with the choice of2 equally comfortable pillows. Off there you walk in to an enormous marble walled bathroom and the shower would accommodate a handful of people, oh, did I mention it has the quietest flushing toilet. Why I mention it is because in general they're always soo noisy and you end up waking your partner and vice versa. So I'm sure by now you can feel the opulence of the convent.Dont forget to tour the grounds to see the sculptures, the large wisteria pergola would be exquisite when in bloom at the start of summer. Yes there's a pool and they cater for weddings. But there best quality is there care of you the guest. So by now you know that the Convent Hunter Valley is the best place to base yourself when you visit this area. A hundred 💯 percent satisfied 😌

There's nothing to not like

Breakfast was good, not exceptional. The attendee did not really explain the menu, just assumed we knew. There was no option for dinner as it was a Sunday evening.

The staff at the front desk was friendly, however was not very good with the computer system. She did not talk about the Convent at all, just showed us our garden room and said the pool is open if you want. I like exeptional service, i just felt she was a little lacking. Like she was just there because she had to be.

We had a fantastic stay in the huge garden suite. Beautiful self contained suite at the back of the hotel.. Love the gorgeous gardens, water fountain and heritage hotel.. Very peaceful and tranquil area.. Amazing reception staff..

Hotel does need some rejuvenation and we found our bed not to be so comfortable for us.. We didn’t have breakfast here so cannot comment but limited choices on what I read on their website.. I would like more choice or a breakfast buffet is always wonderful..

Staff were overall quite helpful, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was quite nice, and were able to accommodate some dietary requirements. Good location.

A larger bed, although the room is a little small. It was awkward to watch tv when is is parallel to the bed and right next to it. Overall it was quite expensive. A pity it didnt have a bar or area for groups to sit in to socialise outside of their rooms at night.

The entire property was beautifully maintained and added to the vibe of the whole area. Our room was fabulous and we were lucky enough as it was also the last one available. The staff were engaging and helped us with seeing a few venues at short notice. The food and wine selection at Circa 1876 was absolutely devine! As was breakfast.

Couldn't seriously fault the property.

Sam & Vicki were wonderful (hotel managers) and we loved the big bathtub. It was great feeling like we had stepped back in time but yet had all the modern conveniences of today. Lovely “old grand dame” perfect for our 35th wedding anniversary.

The car park could use some attention, nasty pot holes everywhere. Also, the convent could do with a new coat of paint, she’s looking a little tired and needs a touch up.

We stayed in a Garden Suite and had an amazing night. The suite felt like our own private cottage. The decor is stunning, the bathroom is immaculate with an amazing bathtub. We sat on the porch in the morning, watching the bunnies hop near the pool/tennis court while we had our morning coffees. Should have booked an extra night, we didn’t want to leave.
