Everything! The pool facing room that we had was basic but had everything we needed with a big fridge and a drying rack for cossies. I loved that the AC was just right;cool but not freezing as in some places. The pool is so clean with lovely little touches like waterproof cushions on the pool lounges and pool toys and nearly always offers a shady or sunny spot depending on what you are after. There is a communal kitchen and a coin operated launderette if that’s what you are after. The location is perfect; handy for walking to the waterfront, shops, very close to the library and bus station. The CAV doesn’t offer breakfast but there is a great cafe, Roma, across the road. The bistro at the CAV offers really good pub food and offers a 10% discount for hotel guests. And if you like live music the bar at the CAV has people playing most nights. (Look out for the fab Saturday arvo/early evening teenage DJ with his dad in tow. He is really good) I was worried we would find the music too loud but music finishes early during the week and amazingly we really didn’t hear it in our room anyway. We had a very late check in which was very easy. The staff were always pleasant. It is a fab place and we will be back.

The room carpets were a bit tatty (but the bed was super comfy and the room so clean, that that is just picking at straws🤣)

The location was the reason I picked it as it was close to the waterfront and smith st mall. I liked that it had a communal kitchen and laundry so I could save money by cooking my own food and had a place to wash my laundry. Only having to walk a few steps to the bar area to have a beer and enjoy live music was also a plus. Also, the room had a nice big fridge to store food rather than those annoying minibars you usually find in hotel rooms.

I didn’t like that the curtains didn’t fully block out light. Some guests would make a lot of noise in the kitchen past 11pm which was directly underneath the room I was in.

Nice dorm, which actually consists of two rooms with the bathroom in between. Pool was nice too, just the water could be cooler, but I guess that is a problem anywhere in Darwin. The kitchen was equipped with the basics and you get toiletries, which was a nice touch.

Two small things to consider, but definitly no deal-breakers: The bar is right next to the dorm and you can hear the music until around 10 or 11pm. But if you have earplugs or go to bed later then that, it's not a problem. Same goes for the gate to enter the rest of the hotel which just cannot be closed silently. If you are looking for a very social hostel, this might not be the right fit for you: there is only the one female dorm and not much going on in the kitchen.

Really great value for what you get for a hostel dorm bed!! The place is a hotel first and foremost then has one female dorm room but you get a huge space to yourself, no bunk beds, multiple towels and toiletries, and it’s generally super cute and homey. Kitchen was massive and always immaculate condition and being that it was a hotel, almost always empty. Pool also huge and really beautiful, also kept up well and tons of nice seating/lounge areas (even better than the photos). Staff were always super kind and helpful and genuinely cared if you had an issue. Live music basically every night but always done by 10pm and it actually created a really lovely atmosphere, this place is basically an institution in Darwin so everyone comes out to have a good time! Location cannot be beat!!

Wifi was terribleee in basically every part of the place but did not reach the kitchen at all, really unfortunate for people trying to work online, it was actually pretty much impossible to do so. Also, some food items of mine got taken from the fridge despite being labelled so only thing I could suggest is a camera pointed at fridge area? Quick fix but probably will prevent that issue in future. If you’re looking for a social dorm this is not it at all with some guests being there for basically the foreseeable future and no interest in socializing but really great if you want to relax!

We stayed twice in two different rooms. One didn’t really have a proper window (very high up in the ceiling it was weird), and you couldn’t shower without flooding the bathroom. The other one was on the second floor open on the pool, which meant a window, but also it was very noisy from the bar and the live music. Both rooms looked quite old and could do with a refresh.

The female dormitory with 6 beds was clean, comfortable, and well-organized. The location is excellent, close to the city center, markets, and restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful, making the stay enjoyable.

Our room was near the pub and pool area, so it could get noisy during the day if you wanted to rest. The shared bathroom facilities could also get crowded at times, which was a bit inconvenient.

I liked that the dorm room was actually 3 beds to one room rather tan 6. The linens, blanket, and towels were clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, answering all of my questions and showing me around. Although I never got to use it, the pool and its lounge chairs looked comfortable and great!

It was a bit surprising that the room was very close to the bar area so ear plugs are certainly a necessity for light sleepers. 2 of 3 lockers in the room were broken.

The hotel has a great vibe. I loved the evening live music, the big clean swimming pool, lounges and pool towels easily accessible, the bar areas and the staff. My room was cleaned everyday and clean towels if needed. The kitchen is good to have available. I am a mature age person and I found it safe and relaxing. The music finished at 10pm and things became quite not long after.

The place to meet loads of local people as there is a very popular pub with live musik and a restaurant with excellent steaks.

You have to know that it is noisy place in particular wehn your room is next to pub. There might be some misbehaving drunken people hanging out in the pub. But for the rest it is all fun... for people who are pub goers themselves. And the location is just the best you can get in Darwin!Great place for

The room was very clean and modern and well serviced. The reception staff were very helpful and most friendly. The location of the hotel was very convenient. It was close to the library, the bus station, the tourist information centre, as well as shops and bars.

The room price per night seems to have increased somewhat compared to previous years, probably due to the hotel being taken over by business people based in Sydney.
