The Woodroffe has a lot of class. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the cafe conveniently located in the lobby produced one of the best dirty chai I have had in a long time. The staff accommodated a one day extension to our stay and a late checkout request the morning of departure.

There are only two faults that I can mention. One is the steep nightly rate, I have received more "bang-for-my-buck" at $100 a night motels. The other, is that God awful join between the two king single beds that get pushed together to accomodate a couple, it's bloody horrible, don't do it. I have also provided two photos of the room for the ACTUAL size reference.

This is my second stay at the Hotel. The staff are always friendly and efficient and the rooms are clean, comfortable, spacious and have lots of natural light. I had a corner room which had it's own private corridor! That was an unexpected delight! The cafe on the ground floor is only open a few hours each morning but the coffee is great, the food is excellent, and the staff are so friendly that they are the perfect start to your day! Public transport (tram and bus), plus a major shopping centre, library and dining are all in close walking distance.

There is currently road works happening in the intersection directly outside the hotel. They noise did not filter through but it would have been nice to have received notice about it when booking as the road was completely blocked from traffic.

Close to swimming pool. Clean.

Hard to park. Would have liked a microwave. Tired after long day at pool and don't want to go out to eat..

The reception, onsite cafe and staff were amazing. Very caring, compassionate, efficient and goes that extra mile to make you feel welcome and included. Including answering the internal phone lines. Much appreciated thanks. Could i say that's the very best barista coffee and hot breakfast I've ever had in a long time and exceeded 3-4 star hotels in speed, tastiness, presentation and love. These girls know their craft. Tip pay in advance the $19 each and save $5.

Not knowing the thin fold out mattress on sofa bed in family room is designed for young children. I prefer choice of roll out single bed with traditional mattress when my dad has the only king/queen bed in the rooms.

I booked a king-size bedroom, which overall I thought was lovely and very suitable for what I needed. A small room with a TV, kettle, mini fridge, desk, AC, and lots of hanging space for clothes. The king-size bed was two single beds pushed together, but the mattresses were so comfy that this did not bother me at all. WiFi worked well and was easy to connect to. The bathroom was very clean, and the shower pressure was amazing. Inside the bathroom drawer was spare toilet paper and a hair-dryer. Two big towels, two flannelettes, two floor towels, and one hand towel were provided in the room. They lock the doors at 7pm, so after these hours, only people with a room key can get in - which made me feel really safe. The area was really quiet, and I didn't hear anything from any other guests staying nearby. The atmosphere of the hotel is very friendly and welcoming, and I would happily stay here again to support the owners of a small hotel such as this one. Breakfast is provided downstairs in their cafe. They have a menu which actually has cheaper prices than the $20 fee that is included when booking - so I recommend booking a room that doesn't include breakfast, because you can buy it cheaper anyway. The food is really good too! The staff were very accommodating, allowing guests to leave their bags in the store room after checking out but not heading to the airport straight away. Overall, my stay was lovely, and I'd recommend this place to anyone who is travelling either by themselves or on a budget, as this place is relatively cheaper than other hotels nearby on the Gold Coast.

The fan on the AC can be a bit fiddly and loud. While trying to sleep, if I had the AC fan on high, I found it was a bit noisy, so I would change it to low, but that didn't seem to change. I think I only got it right when I would take out the room key and completely turn it off, put the room key back in, and then set it to low. Then the fans seemed to be a bit quieter.

Clean room, comfortable beds, friendly staff, reasonable price and good air conditioning. For anyone wondering, this hotel accepts both debit cards and credit cards upon arrival. For those concerned about parking, usually the on-street parking in Southport has a 2-hour maximum (2P) from 9am to 5pm (Monday to Friday/Saturday). However, I believe there are some on-street parking spots with no time limit. If you're stressed about this, you can phone the hotel way ahead of arrival and instead reserve the hotel's undercover private parking, so you definitely have a place to park (I believe this costs $20 per night). Luckily we stayed over the weekend, so this wasn't necessary for us. We liked that the hotel is a 5-minute-ish walk to the tram station as this made it easy to get around to places like Surfers Paradise so no need to Uber or drive around much, which is definitely handy. We enjoyed our stay overall!

Cafe only open for a couple of hours each morning. (Never lunch or dinner) 2 single beds made a king bed ( need a thick topper if doing that) could feel the joins in the 2 beds. Couple sharing room/king bed ( but only 3 very thin flat pillows .) Would have at least thought 4 pillows No facilities for ice for our own drinks and no freezer in small fridge to make some $20 per night to park on premises on council pay on street parking ( apparently $ 103 fine )

Great location. Within walking distance of Southport's CBD shopping centres & businesses, you can also easily access the G tram/light rail which goes to Surfers Paradise/Broadbeach & Helensvale rail station (trains to Brisbane). Without the frills (e.g. swimming pool) but with a cafe (no need to go out for breakfast etc.). Very clean & quiet with a 'no party' policy. Loved how part of the window opens, allowing that fresh Gold Coast air to come into your room. If you like a functional base yet be able to explore further this venue is a very viable option.

A bit of fresh paint on the door & walls in the foyer. Maybe new carpet but still very nicely maintained.

The room was clean and comfortable. It was a little on the small side but sufficient for our purpose as we were only using it for a short time and just for one night. Parking was available for an extra $20 charge, which we used, and it was very handy as we weren't sure if we would be able to park on the street. We came for "Pandemonium" at Broadwater Parklands and it was an easy walk to the venue.

Just one observation - the shower has such a small glass wall that water goes everywhere so be mindful when showering that your floor will definitely get wet!

Location was close to everything without the hustle and bustle of major city traffic. Room was comfy with everything we needed on hand. Shopping facilities with places to dine were within 450m of the motel.

There was only one thing that bothered me and it was really no fault of the Motel. I picked a room facing the city which just happened to face a community basket ball area included in the park. Being on a short holiday I was hoping to sleep in but am naturally an early riser. Just after sun up I was woken by the noise of people playing basketball ball and the thump of the ball hitting the back board ( no nothing but net here ). As I said I am a very light sleeper so I was probably half awake anyway. In the scheme of things I only mention this for future reference if someone books in who says they are a light sleeper.
