We had room on 3rd floor on the end closest to the sea. Rooms are always amazing and very comfortable.

When we arrived we had a great view out to sea and across the harbour. We went out for a few hours only to return to discover a huge cruise ship had arrived and blocked our view out to sea and we had to close the corner timber shutters and keep the curtains drawn because we could see straight into the ship and we were guessing they could see straight into our room. Very disappointed.

This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at, offering a unique and unforgettable experience. The location is perfect, situated right by the Hobart docks and within walking distance of everything the city has to offer. The design is exceptional, blending local history into the décor, with each room showcasing a character who influenced Tasmania in some way. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and featured a lovely balcony overlooking the waterfront. The Appelles bathroom products were a fantastic touch! The hotel offers five complimentary experiences, led by their knowledgeable staff. We joined the ‘114 Doors’ and ‘Hidden Hobart’ tours—both were brilliant. If we had more time, we’d have loved to do them all. The hotel’s storytelling extends to its building, surroundings, and even the funky collection of fossils displayed in one of the bars, adding an extra layer of charm. Breakfast was superb, with a fantastic range of buffet and à la carte options. Dinner at their restaurant was also excellent, with thoughtful vegetarian choices—thank you for that! Parking was convenient and efficient, with valet service taking care of everything seamlessly. In summary, it's a stunning hotel with impeccable design, outstanding service, and a perfect location. Highly recommended for a unique and luxurious stay in Hobart!

The service at dinner was occasionally a bit confused. The best tables by the window were allegedly reserved, but no one sat there the entire evening.

This Hotel is LUXURY PLUS !!! The staff were so polite, professional and personable. Valet parking is offered on arrival. The valet service was super efficient. The room we had was SPECTACULAR and huge !! The bathroom was bigger than our main bedroom in our home, the view, the decor, the (not so) mini bar. We had the best time, often opting to stay in the room and enjoy the luxury rather than walking the streets of Hobart. The food venues attached to the hotel were fabulous and the full Buffet/A La Carte breakfast was delicious! I fell in love with the large Alpaca Wool throw at the end of the bed and wanted to buy it. I was referred to an Art store opposite the Hotel that sold special items from the rooms in MACQ1. I bought my special blanket home with me!

The one thing that I did not like about this Hotel was that we had to leave to return home. We loved every moment spent here and look forward to returning in the future!

From the moment we arrived at MACq 01, we were impressed. The location is unbeatable – right on the waterfront with amazing views. Our room was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with a separate dressing area that made unpacking and getting ready a breeze. The bathroom was equally impressive – large, luxurious, and spotlessly clean. The hotel blends comfort with character, and every detail – from the storytelling theme to the quality finishes – has been carefully considered. A perfect base for exploring Hobart. Highly recommended – we’ll definitely be back!

The breakfast buffet is very limited. There is only ever one cheese, white bread, limited fresh fruit. It would be nice to have a wider choice non pastry, bread and muffin eaters. For this calibre restaurant there is a very limited variety. Having said this the cooked breakfast choice is much better. I was not impressed by the fact we would come back in the afternoons and not have the room made. When we remarked on this at the front desk we were told departures came first! I’d say they may be short staffed.

Perfect location within walking distance of everything. Our room looked out to the water and harbour. The resort has several bars and restaurants, all were excellent, and a short walk to all the other wharfs, Salamanca Market area, ferry to the MONA, and bus to the top of Kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Valet parking was also included in our room fee, made everything very easy.

The room could have been equipped better to occasionally bring back your own food to eat in the room - sometimes you need a break from restaurants and rich restaurant food and just want to eat something simple and fresh from the market. For example there were no knives or forks or plates appropriate for this in the room.

We liked the generous room size. The food service and quality were excellent and the staff in the Wharf Restaurant for breakfast and evening meals were very friendly and accommodating. The complimentary "114 doors" tour, city walk and IXL factory tour were a great insight into the history of Hobart and the hotel is to be commended for sponsoring such interesting activities.

We would have liked brighter lighting in the bathroom/dressing area and although very generous in size, the shower & toilet lack a little privacy. We stayed in a Hunter Street room so this may not be an issue in other room types.

Very good quality hotel with boutique decor. Great food quality both in the morning at breakfast and for an evening meal. Most staff very hard working and care about guests experience.

2 male bar staff in the whisky bar one very inexperienced and the other very negative, both were not invested in their job on the night I visited, long wait times for drinks, order taken and then he went straight on break and did nt get our second drink. Negative member of staff greater you and told you where you can’t sit and the only places we have where you can sit. Painful to watch whilst drinking our cocktails, lots of laughing and joking between themselves leaving customers thirsty. No representative of the rest of the hotel staff.

This is my 2nd time staying at MACq01, and it just gets better each time. The bed, the walk in closet, the bathroom, the view of Hobart, the room service... I honestly can't rave about it enough. Special shout out to Adrian and Harry on the front desk for being so helpful upon check in and check out. The valet staff were also incredibly friendly and accommodating. A+++!

The only thing I would mention that would help to keep the hotel feeling luxe is for the house keeping carts not to clutter the hallways for most of the day.

Great view of the marina if you have a waterfront room. Exceptionally well designed bathrooms in two of the three rooms we stayed in.

We stayed for three nights during our trip to Tasmania so had three different rooms. The second room we had was a bit odd and don’t seem to be in regular use. It had a number of defects. For example, it was not possible to turn any of the room lights off from the bed. Nor were there any bedside lamps. A member of staff came to check this and agreed that there was a problem with the room light switching and that the lack of bedside lights was odd. He later brought us a couple of bedside lights which was kind of him - but obviously this is not the sort of thing you usually have to ask for in a hotel of this standard! It was also particularly annoying because we obviously didn’t notice this problem until we got into bed
