It was a smooth 5 nights of stay for me and my wife at Narrara Backpackers. The owner and manager, Mo, was very welcoming, friendly, accommodating and helpful from the get go. The double-bed room was clean, no-frills, and of good value. No less than 1km from Hobart Central and 2km to the Piers and Salamanca Place/Market makes this a very convenient location to all sights and good food. We would strongly recommend giving Mo and Narrara Backpackers a try if you are looking for warm, cozy and friendly atmosphere for your Hobart travels and accomodation. The staff are so warm, helpful, and accommodating. Mo let me store my luggage before check-in, granted me an early check-in time, and gave me a spontaneous upgrade from a 4 bed to a 1 bed private room without any extra cost which allowed me to majorly unwind. The room was clean and super well organized. The bathrooms were always clean, well-stocked, and the hot showers were impeccable. I also got a bar of natural aloe soap included in my stay which meant I didn't have to procure body wash and store it in my overflowing luggage!

The bed could've had a blanket or two as the autumn night in Hobart was quite cool. I ended up sleeping in my puffer which was comfortable enough!

Absolutely LOVED our stay here! Mo is an exceptional host, knows the guest by name, and had genuine welcome and care over the guests. If he can accommodate you, your early/late arrivals, he will do his best, and works so hard to make the hostal a welcoming environment. The hostal is laid out in a way that you can be social if you wish or retreat to your quiet room area if you wish. Showers and bathrooms were great. We choose here because for 2 ppl, it was best value to uber to hostal, spend 2 nights to get over jet lag, and then there was a big savings to just walk to our car rental place. We stayed here on our last night too. Easy walk to all central Hobart shops, harbor, etc. Moe works so hard and it makes a memorable impression. Happy and would stay again!

Mo was such a fantastic host - he was so welcoming with recommendations for Hobart and ensuring we had everything for our stay. When our flight was not until the evening he allowed us to lock our bags away safely and just contact him whenever we wanted to collect them. The residents of the hostel were friendly and welcoming (not intimidating as can sometimes be the case!) and common areas were clean and well equipped. We would recommend this hostel to backpackers on a budget - great location too.

Apart from what people has mentioned, the owner (Moor?) knows a lot, and can always give you answers/options. He even squeeze time to show me his organic garden. He is full of energy, working hard, and always keeps smiling. A very positive personality. So as people in the hostel. Most of them are doing working holiday so, unlike travellers, they are more like good friends/housemates. People offer a job, people wait for a job, they share, they play, etc. I stayed just one night (16 Nov) but, I very much enjoyed the atmosphere.

This hostel is great! Mo is so accommodating and friendly, making everyone instantly feel welcome. He is also hilarious! And very helpful. He cleaned multiple times daily, which we saw. But of course, there are many people and it will become messy again (I saw him clean the whole kitchen floor only for a guest to drop tomato sauce on it one minute later and not pick it up etc). Treat the place like it would be your own home and pick up your things :D We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again. The guests seemed friendly and if we stayed longer I am sure we'd make friends!

We liked the hostel.

The manager Mo is excelent! Very nice, attentive, helpful. The house in general is cozy and welcoming. The room was clean and quiet. Fortunatelly I could get the bottom of the bunk, and there was only one to two more girls in the room. Showers are separated by sex and there is nice hot water. There were some available shampoo and bodywash, but I think they were kinda donation from previous guests. There was hair dryer. Toilets always clean as well. The living room is big and comfy. Kitchen is like hostel's kitchen, but clean and organised as much as it is possible. I did not do the laundry, so I cannot rate it. Mo allowed me to store my big backpack after checkout until the bus time. The location is wonderful, pretty close to the city. Actually Hobart is quite small, so everything can be done on foot.

What a wonderful home away from home!We can‘t thank Mo enough for the wonderful stay.It‘s this kind of social hostel we always loved where everyone sits together in the living room and talks.Mo has so many great recommendations and he is such a warm and wonderful person to talk to and knows all the guests by name and always is there to help.So very uncomplicated.We can‘t wait to hopefully come back to Tassie soon and have a wonderful base in Mo‘s hostel.Thank you so much!

Mo goes above and beyond for the comfort of the guest and is very welcoming. Heaters in the room are very helpful in the winter and Mo even went out of his way to put an extra little heater when I was in the common area alone and asked if I wanted it closer to me. The way he takes care of the plants in the living room is another super cute detail that adds a home like feeling to the place. The location is perfect as it was walking distance to the center as well as the Skybus to/from airport and very quiet. The common area feels like a home living room and the kitchen is well equipped although it feels a bit small when there are a few people in there simultaneously but it wasn’t always full. It is also well maintained as there was housekeeping on a daily basis.

Disliked NOTHING. Love this place and Mo is just lovely!

On my 2nd night, a man arrived at 1AM and took a bed in our all female room. He apparently had a feminine name (Andrea), so our host, Mo, accepted his booking. The guy was reluctant to leave our room, and he was very irritated at our request for him to leave. I reported the issue to Mo and he arrived immediately in the middle of the night to find a new room so that poor guy had a place to sleep for the night. Found out later there were a lot of flight delays at Hobart that evening. This is largely a failure for booking.com to not verify identity and gender before allowing people to reserve all female / male rooms. I stayed only 2 nights of the 6.
