Location was great, room size was very good, beds were comfortable, lobby area with bar was good. Appreciated the opening window so we could have fresh air.
There was a bit of noise on the Fri and Sat night due to the local Launceston hoon problem. In addition, on one of the evenings there was a lot of noise from a large Chinese group which had a number of rooms surrounding ours. They arrived back after 11pm and the kids were running up and down the hallways between rooms screeching and carrying on for 30min, even after I opened my door and asked them to be quiet. They were back at it again around 7.30am the next morning. I reported it to the front desk who must have followed up on it as we didn't have any problems the following evening. This wasn't at all the fault of the hotel, but honestly why do people lack such basic manners and respect?

The property was good, we were on the fifth floor which was great, I had requested a walk in shower as my husband and myself have back problems, so we were really pleased the hotel provided this for us. Thank you
On the Sunday morning, most of the guests had to set their own table for breakfast and told we could sit where we want, the staff were either unavailable or busy trying to keep up. Such a difference from the Saturday staff and the Monday staff. They were all organised table set and cleared dishes promptly, when one guest left they were straight over to reset table for next guests. We came up to the bar in the evening and around about six people were standing waiting to be served and there were no staff looking after the bar, it was quite a wait. I think they were busy trying to look after the restaurant, definitely not enough staff to cater when busy, All staff were very pleasant, from check in staff to cleaning staff.

Our room was located on the 5th floor overlooking the carpark. We found the location excellent, a short walk into the town centre and then onto City Park at the end of the street. Also the Launceston Saturday Harvest market was on, literally across the street. (bonus). We walked to Stillwater restaurant a couple of k's away. Definitely easy and central. The restaurant for dinner the first night was amazing. The food exceeded our expectations. Also we found the staff to be very attentive, knowledgable and friendly.
We didn't like the beds or pillow. The mattress was way too hard and thin for us. Also the pillows were awful (lucky we bought our own). Good mattress toppers would solve this for sure.

Everything, the beds are extremely comfortable, we had the pleasure of 3 different rooms due to travel arrangements and then Cyclone Alfred extended our stay. The facilities, staff and location are excellent. 5 minutes walk in any direction takes you to Saturday market, City Park and York Square which leads into shopping precinct. Grand Chancellor would be my choice if staying in Launceston again. Also only 15 minute walk to Tamar River cruise Kiosk. We took advantage of Happy hour which is 1.5 hours, we dined at night and had the buffet breakfast a couple of times. I have stayed in Hotels in many countries and Grand Chancellor rates with the best. I have no hesitation in reviewing this hotel.
I have no comment to make as I could not fault this Hotel in anyway. At one point we were given an unrenovated room, which was referring to the bathroom and still felt the facility was excellent, just some tiling that required replacement. Certainly no cause for concern.

The character and charm of the hotel itself is truly first class. Location excellent and staff were wonderful - extremely helpful with a friendly, professional and can do attitude - a credit to the hotel.
Have a look at the roof which is metal for the coach drop off in your photo! My room was immediately above that so I had no outlook (unlike the photos Booking.com exhibited!) and had to have the curtains closed and air con on the entire time! There was no view anyway so that was very disappointing. The shower was in the bath which was cracked and awkward. Booking.com needs to do better!!! Spoils an otherwise incredible hotel!

Good, clean rooms with expected amenities. Central location, close to shops, cafes and walks. Parking experience with the upgraded vehicle registration identification process works well. $10 dollar fee is arguably a rort to guests as we are paying for a room anyway. At least guests now have parks available on arrival instead of having to wait until office workers go home to free up spaces.
It's starting to get old. Carpets are the same as when I stayed at this hotel back in the 90's. Definitely time for a refresh to provide comparative facilities to more contemporary hotels in the area. Paying for bottled water in your room is really a bit rich. The little things like free water or small chocolate on the bed make for a better guest experience. Staff are friendly, however the check-in experience where you have to present your credit card twice seems clunky and unnecessary.

So lovely and clean and comfortable. The reception staff were so lovely and hospitable. It will be my home away from home always. The only recommendation I could make against the almost near perfect room, is that the window curtains could really do with an upgrade replacement. They are really crusty, and stale from the weather beaten sun and cost effective for a re-furbish. Otherwise, everything was lovely. It was a bit cheeky to expect us to pay for 2 bottles of water in the room. It made me giggle how dressed up they were. Come on, people aren’t silly, free water and maybe a decent assortment of tea and coffee with fresh milk please. Otherwise, outstanding accommodation

The room was very clean, tidy and comfortable. 1% improvements. A simple hook to hand up the hand towel near the wash basin. And mugs as well as cups for hot drinks
Half hearted efforts to clean the room even though I never requested cleaning and no sign was left out to clean room. Being charged for water I never drank, I merely moved the bottles but cleaning staff replaced them and they went on my final bill. Attempts to charge me for parking for my full stay even though I informed front staff I would be collecting a vehicle later in my stay and then informing front staff of how long I would require parking after obtaining a vehicle

1. The renovated bathroom was amazing and huge. great for the family. 2. Honest hotel and a genuine service. Called us back in Singapore to inform us that they had overcharged us on our credit cards. I cant find these honesty else where. thanks hotel grand chancellor launceston. I will return to stay in this hotel for my next visit.
1. More choices for breakfast and 2. The bathroom could have better seals to block the coldness from within the bathroom and external (very important) as its very cold while bathing. It does not cost much to have a better rubber (latex) seals for the bathroom door. 3. No attendant and porter to assist to move our luggage during our stay. Hopefully we can see a better hotel service next time we returned. till then, happy new year 2025 from the Yip family.

I was happy with the staff and hotel. There was only one thing I wasn’t happy with- there was a heavy doona on the bed with nothing cooler as an option. Being February it’s warm and it isn’t suitable to have a heavy hot doona on the bed. It was a long uncomfortable night and I slept terrible. I spent the whole night going between hot winter doona and feeling too cold with only the sheet. There should be at least light blanket in the cupboard as an alternative to heavy hit doona which was very uncomfortable.
See an above. Only heavy doona on bed which isn’t suitable.
