credit card manage problem 1. the hotel will pre charge in pending BUT it has kept this condition for a month after checking out. it still hasn't been canceled until now even I sent them message. they said it ll be canceled. 2. I canceled another booking date. it still charged me even I chose the free cancel option. I asked booking.com to talk to them but they kept saying they have refunded. BUT they can't show me the provement.

Wonderful hotel close to everything. Bring ear plugs because centrality comes with a few trade offs (traffic, pedestrians). There are so many positives about this hotel, here's my favs: • shower is utterly 9/10. Maybe even a 10. Water? Hot. Pressure? Heavy. Never ends! I had 2 showers in 16 hours. Why not! • towels. Thick. Heavy. Dries you quickly. Ample amount. No face washers, not an issue. • price, location, access. Tick, tick, tick. • bed and bedding, including pillows. Fresh and clean, smooth and soft. I had an extra large double and hoboy, it was wide. • in-room amenities and facilities: tea and fancy coffee bags with a plunger, soaps / shampoos smell lovely, tissues, toit tickets. I booked via booking dot com. There was still a holding fee. Reception is right close to the street however you need your room keypass to get to the foyer where the elevator lives. Staff were efficient. Hotel is clean and orderly overall. Due to my own idiocy, I did not get to have the breakfast. Note to self: If someone asks you to prove you are a guest of the hotel -inside the hotel- just prove it and move on, no need to go off like a pork chop. These two things, sadly, are related, to my embarrassment. Awkwardness remains even after the apologies are said and the hands are shaken.

I only have a couple of "if-onlys" - there is a desk in R209 however there is no light nor power point near it (I write when I travel), and the external noise does warrant earplugs (which I left at home). Oh, and no face washers: love a shower with a face washer. That said, there's no demerits here only what-ifs.

The location was great - not far from Southern Cross station - under 10 minutes walk. The hotel room was sizeable and roomy enough as a solo traveller. The hot breakfast and other options was hearty to eat - thank you to the cooks. The staff were super helpful - kudos. What I paid for and the value I got from the room was excellent.

Whilst the bathroom was quite large with plenty of space to move, there were no hooks or racks to hang towels or clothes and, the lighting was a bit dim. Also, the little fridge could have done with a wipe inside.

One smile down for the bed, as I like to sleep in the middle, yet was unable to do so as it was a twin pushed together, and the join was uncomfortable to sleep on. Otherwise, it was a very comfortable bed, and I had a great night's sleep. The location was perfect, right near Southern Cross Station, and was easy to find. Good-sized room with space for my luggage, could swing a cat in the bathroom.

The aircon wouldn't switch to heat mode, so it was a little cold first thing in the morning. I was unable to find the hotel compendium on the TV.

The location is just superb. Super central and inside the free tram zone, Queen Victoria Market, major shops, restaurants and malls and Flinders Street Station only a few minutes away by foot. Definitely good value for money and by far the most affordable option. Room was a bit outdated maybe but very clean and had everything you need (hair dryer, fridge, tea and coffee facilities) and the milk got topped up by the staff which was nice. Overall, good for a few days. Apparently there are some renovations done on the top floors which would make everything a bit nicer. We were also able to leave our bags there on the last day. Has a bar and provides breakfast but didn't use either.

The bed was a bit springy, maybe just a bit old but overall okay. We were on the second floor and it was quite noisy outside over night, especially on the weekend. I guess that's what you have to take into account for a central accommodation. Again, the windows were a bit outdated so if there were some improvements done to those that might solve the issue. Overall, good stay.

This hotel is really underrated it has very central location, very conformable beds, clean and has all facilities. During my stay I was wondering why some people they underrated it also the breakfast is good. Better price in Melbourne considering the location and all facilities.

The only thing is the internet connection is not stable but I think it can be fixed easily.

Great location, and an extremely comfortable bed with crispy clean linen and heaps of good pillows. The room was nice and clean and serviced regularly. Having a free breakfast was great to start the day.

The only down side to the hotel was the incredibly slow wifi, it took about 3 minutes to download maps and was not able to live stream at all. (better wifi outside the building with public access via Vic wifi)

Location was perfect. Minutes walk away from Southern Cross bus terminal. Easy to catch skybus to and from the airport. Staff are friendly!

Building was old but a lot of Melbourne buildings are old too. But compared to other buildings from the same era, Sophia has good interior design

In these days of corporate owners it was great to find in the city a family owned establishment. The bar is great. I stumbled upon it. Such an asset needs some advertising.

Construction work is necessary so it didn’t trouble me as it wasn’t noisy and they were sensitive to guests needs. Breakfast needs updating and needs to be reliable but my personally fried eggs and bacon I had one morning was good. However, given breakfast is advertised from 6 am onwards even having the door open so one could help oneself to a coffee would be a big improvement.

Great location, close to everything, some renovations taking place however wasn't impacted by noise. Only one lift shared with cleaning staff so needed to use stairs on occasions. Staff were very helpful, the motel was a budget price and completely served our purpose of a 1 night stay.

Shared lift with cleaning staff and they didn't offer much with their buffet breakfast, not much food ready so just had to eat what was available at the time. I engaged the cook however no more food came out.
