This was one of my favorite places to stay during our trip. Could not have been happier with location, comfort, staff, and accommodations. We had an easy paperless check-in and friendly checkout. The breakfast was especially delicious, and the cook made us feel like family. So many bonus surprises during our stay such as the private beach, room upgrade, quiet atmosphere, and delicious food. The host was also amazing and went out of her way to be sure we were pleased. Thank you Schloss Prielau! We will be back and have already recommended this castle to our friends.

Highly recommend staying here, it's such a unique experience to stay in a castle! We stayed in a couple 5 star hotels in Austria before coming here and the beds here were the most comfortable! Annette was incredible - I was under the weather and she was so warm and hospitable, bringing me meds and tea to get better. The castle is beautiful and they've done a great job keeping the charm and tradition yet making sure that the bathrooms are renovated and rooms are equipped with everyone you need.

Just an fyi - if you don't have a car it's a beautiful 25/30 min walk along the walk to get to the main town. Via cab it's only 5 minutes and an inexpensive cab ride.

I enjoyed every aspect of my stay. Sleeping in a 400-year-old castle that feels cozy made the experience even more special. The breakfast was amazing, and the staff were lovely, providing excellent service. I would choose this place time and time again. The fireplace in the room added to its charm, and the sauna was also very nice!

Everything was great!

The Hotel setting is amazing, just off the lake and it's a beautiful old building, full of character, but updated with all modern features. The breakfast was great - amazing Omlettes, but also vast choice of many other items to suit most people. The michelin starred Mayer's restuarant linked to the Hotel is just incredible - probably the best dinner I have ever had (it's expensive, but it's worth it). Frau Mayer and her staff are all very friendly, professional and very knowledgeable - ausgezeichnet gastfreundschaft !!

my only (very small) criticism was that the rooms were very warm, but easily solved by opening a window slightly, so really not an issue. You do need a car to stay here though (which we did). If not driving, I would probably recommend staying in the centre of Zell or Kaprun, but still visit the restaurant if you can :-)

We loved everything about our stay - the location, the room, the food, and mostly - the host! Anette made our stay very special in every way. I don't think I can find the proper words to describe our experience, I can just say that if you have the chance - you need to stay here! You won't regret it! We also tried the gourmet restaurant - another unforgettable experience, so you should also try it if possible. I hope we get the chance to come back to this lovely place!

Location of the hotel. We stayed at the fishermen cabin and the place is just great for disconnecting and enjoying the lake and Zell am see. The hotel itself has great restaurants, spa for guests and its location is just perfect. Plus the welcoming and friendly hotel staff makes for a memorable experience.

It would be good for the fishermen cabin to have wifi for future visits.

Breakfast was excellent and very good service . Great atmosphere. We recommend both the Austrian restaurant ( on the first floor of the hotel ) and especially the two star Michelin restaurant of the Mayer chef . It was the best meal we have ever eaten ,even compared to Michelin starred restaurants. Front desk service service was very kind and generous, showed us ideas of different walks and travelling ideas . Everyone took great care of the guests.

It was the most pleasurable stay at Schloss Prielau! We had a blast as a group of 9 people. Annette was always there to help, making sure we were looked after and had a great time. She couldn't have done more for us and she made our stay absolutely perfect! Restaurant at the hotel was great, Mayer's 2 stars Michelin restaurant is a WOW! Rooms are fabulous and very spacious. Beds are so so comfy, I had best nights sleep for ages! All the staff at the hotel were absolutely top class and Annette is a star! Thank you, Thank you for looking after us (not easy to please a group of 9!) and I am sure we will be back very soon!

Everything was perfect!

The striking point for us was that everything was perfect. We didn't feel that this was just luck, rather the result of a hotel philosophy. Room was outstanding in both form and function. The restaurant excelled with both meals and service. Most strongly, we got the impression that we were not just guests, rather returning family. This was the best hotel we have visited and we will surely return. Extraordinary! Thank-you!

We absolutely adore our time here! The staff members are incredibly friendly and always go above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The facilities are impeccably clean and well-maintained. It's truly a wonderful experience, and we love it here!
