Copied from my TripAdvisor review: We were very happy with our three-night stay at the Hotel Odeon. The location could not be better. It is right next to the Roman Forum, just round the corner from the City Hall (where the free walking tours start) and two minutes' walk from the Bishop's Basilica museum. The Old Town and Kapana districts are just ten minutes away. The hotel is at the end of a street that leads to the Old Town. The end part is closed to traffic by a barrier. We travelled by car and had requested car parking. When we reached the barrier we rang the hotel as instructed. The owner raised it, we took our luggage to the hotel and then drove back to the hotel's car parking spaces which were inside the barrier. The parking charge was 20 lev a day. Our room was spacious and the furniture and rugs were of good quality. There was plenty of wardrobe space with real coathangers. The lighting was good: there was no problem reading in bed. The bathroom was good. The shower had an unusual screen but it worked fine despite the gaps between the panels of the screen. The hotel was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was an adequate buffet. The breakfast room overlooks the Forum. We got to chat with some of the other guests which enhanced our stay. The owner spoke limited English but was pleasant and welcoming. We would be happy to go back.

The only minor downsides were that the safe did not work and the wifi signal was somewhat unstable. The mattress was somewhat firmer than I like but that is a matter of personal taste.

We love to travel in Europe and we've been to a different type of hotels, my favourite are always small boutique ones, but Odeon is more than amazing!! Very well done! All perfect, from the beginning, as we arrived much earlier than the check in time, but was kindly allowed to gets in the apartments and it is OMG, incredible! The size, the interior, the paints all over the place, it's a must stay place for sure. Such an unique character in every room and it is so quiet, no matter that the location is the top of the centre. Very comfortable beds, clear all over, everything what you need is there. The king and helpful staff is other reasons reason to wants to come back, always around for help. Overall it is great place for staying even for a short break. Usually you get what you pay for, in Odeon you pay less in my personal opinion:) Thank you Odeon for having us in our first trip to Plovdiv, hope we'll see you again!

We didn't like to leave the hotel

This was my favorite hotel on my 30-day vacation in Greece and Bulgaria. The room was wonderful...large, very clean with several windows overlooking the ruins below. A huge shower. Every detail in the room was well thought out and provided for. Breakfast was buffet-style with seating in a lovely restaurant setting, again with a view of the ruins. Good selection of cold foods, hot eggs cooked to order, good coffee (very important to us). The owner must be an art-lover as there were many interesting paintings through-out the hotel. I just loved this place!

On a good central location. Quiet at night. Comfy rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was as described.

Clarification about the paid parking option offered by the hotel: You have to call them each time you want to go in our out of it to open an automatic bar. They respond quickly most times, but still not super convenient way to manage this.

Hotel Odeon provided excellent value! The cost was more than reasonable; our room was clean, comfortable, quiet, spacious, and attractive; breakfast was plentiful; the wifi worked well. The location of the hotel provides good access by foot to points of interest in Plovdiv, and as a bonus, the hotel overlooks ancient ruins.

Check-in was terrible! Despite notifying Hotel Odeon of our approximate arrival time, it took 2 phone calls and a 30 minute wait for someone to show up at the reception to check us in. Despite this, there were enough positives about our stay that this didn't affect our overall satisfaction with our stay.

Staff were wonderful. So helpful. Offered us use of umbrellas when rain started unexpectedly one evening. Also sorted a kettle and cups for the room so that we could make a drink during the day. Breakfast was plentiful. Fresh cooked eggs on request. Lovely dining room overlooking Roman remains. Location is perfect. At the edge of the pedestrian area for the main town and a stones throw away from the old town. When we were leaving the staff phoned for a taxi which arrived in a few minutes and was half the price we paid for our incoming taxi ride which we got ourselves at the airport (we were clearly ripped off!!)

Quaint family run hotel in Good location to centre of city and old town. Room was traditional but spacious and comfortable. Hotel evening meal was very good. Breakfasts were good for a 'Balkan breakfast - semi buffet style. Hotel arranged parking for rental car, which was appreciated as parking is at a premium.

Can not think of anything

First of all,The staff is very nice and helpful. They did everything to make us feel welcomed. The room is spacious. The location is perfect. Call the reception before arriving, they will open the gated street for you and direct you to the parking.

Loved the vintage look of the room and the size. Staff and breakfast were great. We had to catch an early the day of departure and the owner offered to prepare an hour early. Glad to have breakfast for an early morning bus ride.

Only complaint is smell from drain in bathroom but I think this is a city issue and probably happens all over Plovdiv. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Fabulous in every way from the welcoming manager with a genuine smile to the clean crisp bedding and the large bright shower, it's a little gem. Best of all is the location, 2 minutes walk to the main street (there is an actual archaeological site under the balcony!) and 20 minutes walk to the Old Town.we will definitely use them again when we visit Plovdiv.
