The beds were spacious and so was the bathroom in my 6-bed female dorm. It was super clean and hygienic. Enough activities are organised. It’s a professional space.

They try too hard to make it a party hostel with the music playing all the time and reaching every corner of the hostel. There’s no quiet place to have a phone conversation without the music in the background. Also, they don’t allow outside food into the hostel which is inconvenient for a city like PP where every local eatery prefers takeaway. I understand the need to maintain cleanliness, there should then at least be a kitchen(like most hostels around the world have), or a place where people can sit and eat food got from outside.

A very centrally located hostel with loads on offer in terms of tours and evening activities. It is undeniably a very big party hostel with lots of loud music and happy customers. The staff were mostly pretty helpful and the room was pretty clean.

This is quite an expensive place to stay - my friend stayed at a 4* hotel round the corner for the same price. The music goes on very late (they say quiet time from 23:00 but it didn’t end until 01:00 most evenings). As I was ill whilst we were there, this was really not the vibe. Also our window looked directly onto a corridor so people could see into our room unless we had the curtains shut the whole time.

AMAZING STAFF, Great organized events and alot of social opportunities. This is a very social party hostel, so if your looking for a chill hostel this isnt the place for you. But if you want to meet a lot of people and go to a place that organizes a bunch of tours this place is AMAZING. There is a travel desk where you can organize transport to other cities and other tours. Highly recommend the killing fields & S21 tour. Also there is a whole bar and restaurant in the lobby so this hostel really provides anything you can need as a traveler- tours, accomodation, pool, food&drink- you almost dont need to leave haha

The pool didnt look to clean, bar played loud music, no elevator which isnt a problem for me but a workout every time I wanna go upstairs

The female dorm was really comfortable, with a lot of space and a huge and clean bathroom. Activities are held everyday so you can never be bored in this hostel, a plus for solo travelers. The staff were incredible, nice and friendly. Especially Soso and Kimsin that took great care of me during my stay. Everything exceeded my expectations, I would love to come again !

The hostel might be noisy if you want to relax but that's what makes it fun

The location is great, there is a nice open communal area down stairs, which is good for socialising or finding a spot for yourself. The staff are great, shout out to Tintin for his great help in booking onward buses. Yes it is a Mad Monkey so you do have many opportunities to party and drink but if you’re looking for a vibe in between full party mode and max chill, this is a good option.

Thé tours organised through the hostel are on the expensive side (30USD for S-21 and Killing Fields, when my other hostel had it for 5USD)

Great staff. The dorms are the cleanest I’ve seen and very confortable. The restaurant offers good food and drinks. They organise activites every day and every night for a good deal.

Almost impossible to go there and not to party. Not an issue at all but don’t expect a relaxing and meditative night after visiting the S21 prison and the killing Fields museums. The noise stops around midnight.

The hostel is very central, the staff is friendly and there’s always something going on. I’ve met a bunch of cool people and overall had a great time. The hostel also offers some tours to the main Sightseeing spots which I really enjoyed. Also, I thought the food and drinks were very good. They offer breakfast, all sorts of lunch and dinner options (local dishes and western food) and plenty of drinks to affordable prices.

Felt cold at night as there are no real blankets, just some thin sheets.

This was our first “hostel” experience as a 27-year-old married couple. Safe to say we were among the oldest guests there - tons of younger kids from Australia, the UK and Europe - so you can imagine the vibe is a bit more party oriented than we are at this point in our lives. If that’s what you’re looking for then this place is perfect for you, and you’ll make friends quick and have a great time. We enjoyed our stay; food was very good with a variety of options, staff was super welcoming and friendly (especially Rudy), and the location was perfect. They had tuktuk drivers on call out front and 24 hour security so we felt safe as well. Room stayed cool and shower pressure was great.

Just be aware that there are nightly events attended by kids who want to party, so it’ll be loud sometimes (sometimes until 3 am, quiet hours are more of a suggestion). If you’re a light sleeper bring earplugs. They could also use to update some of their room amenities but overall it was fine.

I recently had the pleasure of spending a week at Mad Monkey Phnom Penh and it was indeed an experience to remember. From the moment I arrived, the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere enveloped me, making it immediately clear why this hostel has such a stellar reputation amongst travellers. A standout feature was the comfortable working space which made it incredibly easy for me to focus and get my tasks done, a rare find in many hostels. Yet, despite being productive, there was no shortage of leisure and fun. The cooking class that the staff recommended was a delightful dive into Cambodian cuisine, giving me not only new skills but also some unforgettable memories. The walking tour of the city was a perfect blend of history, culture, and local insights. It's an experience I'd recommend to anyone wanting a deeper understanding of Phnom Penh beyond the usual tourist spots. Speaking of staff, their friendly and accommodating nature truly made my stay memorable. Lin's cheerful demeanour always lit up, while Rax's insightful tips about local spots enriched my stay immensely. Tony, always attentive, ensured I had everything I needed, and Keoun, with his infectious laughter, made every interaction memorable. Overall, Mad Monkey Phnom Penh isn't just a place to sleep; it's an experience. A combination of top-notch amenities, activities that immerse you in the local culture, and a team that genuinely cares about your stay. I can't recommend it enough!

Clean and social hostel with a nice pool. Bed's are comfortable enough, the frame is just a bit wobbly. We especially appreciated Thy Thy at the adventure desk who was so helpful and fun, and Tin Tin who was our guide during the wonderful sunset tour the hostel offers 😊

Somehow there was always a problem with our order at the bar, either food wasn't available anymore or the order was taken wrong. By the third time, this got on our nerves, especially considering the food isn't the cheapest.. the hostel also offers bottle refills, which was almost never available.
