The breakfast was really good with healthy food, such as chickpea, courgette, broccoli, potato, eggs, fruits, pancakes, etc. The coffee was delicious. The bed was soft, the room was very large. There was a sitting sofa. We were at six floor, which had a premium level with lots of food and drinks. The swimming pool area had hammocks, really relaxing.

We had food in the premium level and it was a small buffet. Not every time there was a card telling which meat there was cooked. It was mostly beef or a mix of beef, pork and chicken. We do not eat beef, so after our complaint and speaking to the chef, they changed the menu for us.

The best hotel in San Jose,Costa Rica .10/10. Excellent service, wonderful hearty varied breakfasts, clean spacious rooms, shower, hair dryer, coffee maker, flat screen, Wi-Fi, quiet place. A beautiful park near the hotel will replace a trip to the parks, there are so many trees, birds, squirrels. On the territory of the hotel there is a swimming pool, sauna, gym, massage and spa rooms, several restaurants and a tennis court. It is easy to get to the city center by car, you can walk to the bus stop in 5 minutes. The room is equipped with air conditioning, daily cleaning, cosmetic set in the bathroom. There is an iron, safe and mini bar with a refrigerator. A nice addition is the privilege of a snack bar on the floor. The best place where we rested. I will definitely come back

My room was very comfortable. The bed was comfortable. It was very clean and it was quiet. I had some concerns because the window faced towards a busy highway. But I didn't hear any traffic noise at all during my stay. The beautifully landscapes grounds are breathtaking. So many beautiful plants and flowers. The pool area is very nice too. It rained during my stay, so I didn't get a chance to use it.

The airport shuttle pick up service was late. The instructions on where to go for the shuttle were confusing. They have a set pick-up schedule, but they didn't adhere to it. I was supposed to be picked up at 21:30. The shuttle didn't arrive until 21:45. This was an issue because after a very long flight I was tired. There are many taxi drivers hanging around trying to get your business. And, there's no where to sit. I also didn't care for the breakfast. The food was cold and tasteless. And it was very crowded. The staff seemed overwhelmed. I had to ask for a table setting and sugar for my coffee ☕️. The self-service Expresso Machine was great.

Overall a really nice, and iconic property. Its surroundings and views give you a perfect balance between an urban location and Costa Rica natural charm. The property does not feel new, but feels clean, well maintained, and the staff is really kind. . The pool area is perhaps the best hidden feature not every gust actually takes advantage of. I would consider booking again eventually.

The price of food and beverage is a little too high for the quality you actually get, plus do you not really have many options unless you ride a car to go somewhere else outside the property. Same goes for any other extra services, such a massage, be ready to pay for high prices or to seek outside vendors for a good value option.

The room was really confortable, the pillow is amazing. Really quiet and nice rest in the nights. Breakfast and food on the Restaurant super. The staff of the Hotel are spectacular, always to help and support with any request. Nice internet service on the room and the hotel areas. Good conditions on all facilities. Nice shuttle service from airport to hotel.

Variety in the Breakfast, will be better if have more variety of fruits also on the ham and cheese stations. Typical food is good but get too much and looks all the same

Rooms and beds were very comfortable. The bartender made excellent mojitos and frozen drinks, something that was never true in three other hotels we stayed in Costa Rica! The garden and walking paths were a beautiful oasis with benches to sit on and exotic tropical blossoms throughout. There was live musical entertainment in the beautiful lobby every evening with very talented musicians. The complimentary van service from the airport to the hotel was prompt and the driver was very polite despite our 9:30 PM arrival time and the extreme amount of traffic.

Front desk was always understaffed. When we requested a mat for the slippery tub it was never delivered despite the front desk having taken the request and assuring us that they understood the request. This hotel is quite a distance from downtown and the nearby on-ramp to the highway was often as clogged as the highway itself, making a taxi ride to San Jose a long, expensive process.

The staff, the property, the facilities are wonderful. The breakfast buffet, while not as abundant as in the past, is just fine. The big weakness of the Barcelo Palacios are the restaurants— the rancho at the pool is good but won’t take a food order after 4 pm— even though the front desk keeps telling people its open until 5. the el bosque bar restsurant—- the food is terrible, really terrible— the sushi restaurant service was really inadequate, some at our table got their food? The others were served literally a half hour later—-thats no good. A hotel of this quality must do better.

I like that the property was very spacious and that you can walk all around and have space to yourself if you would want to. I liked that there were a couple off restaurants to choose from within the property and the Piano man by the bar at the end of the day was the cherry on the cake.

The only thing that I didn’t like was that I couldn’t walk anywhere from the hotel because it has the highway next to it and there is no way to get around. You either have to have your own transportation, a taxi or an Uber to get around but it was not a problem to get an Uber.

This property is lovely! It’s spacious and beautiful!! The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The beds are comfortable, the shower pressure was strong and the water hot. We are so happy we upgraded to have premier lounge access! They provided airport transportation, an impressive breakfast buffet and a quiet club lounge where we enjoyed a variety of delicious foods and beverages. I’m so happy we chose Hotel Barcelo San Jose!!

The walls are not soundproof so we heard every car, plane and bird outside. Even the people in the rooms next to us. That’s my only complaint.

The only minor issue was that the check-in process took a little longer than I’m used to, but the staff was friendly and professional throughout, which made up for the delay.
