My room was very comfortable. The bed was comfortable. It was very clean and it was quiet. I had some concerns because the window faced towards a busy highway. But I didn't hear any traffic noise at all during my stay. The beautifully landscapes grounds are breathtaking. So many beautiful plants and flowers. The pool area is very nice too. It rained during my stay, so I didn't get a chance to use it.

The airport shuttle pick up service was late. The instructions on where to go for the shuttle were confusing. They have a set pick-up schedule, but they didn't adhere to it. I was supposed to be picked up at 21:30. The shuttle didn't arrive until 21:45. This was an issue because after a very long flight I was tired. There are many taxi drivers hanging around trying to get your business. And, there's no where to sit. I also didn't care for the breakfast. The food was cold and tasteless. And it was very crowded. The staff seemed overwhelmed. I had to ask for a table setting and sugar for my coffee ☕️. The self-service Expresso Machine was great.

The only minor issue was that the check-in process took a little longer than I’m used to, but the staff was friendly and professional throughout, which made up for the delay.

It’s a great oasis in San José. Lovely gardens. Very professional check in staff. Booked two superior double rooms. Given one on floor 4 one on floor 5. Both had great views of the city and mountains. Great a/c in rooms if required. We went for half board. Breakfast excellent. Full options, including chef making omelettes to order. Evening meal simpler buffet, less selections. Swimming pool great. Pianist in lobby.

Actually loved the hotel. Lots of reviews give hotel hard time for the shuttle bus time keeping. Just be away that traffic to airport can be variable. Maybe offering a free shuttle bus hits the hotel’s overall rating. Will stay here again.

Really surprised at the value for money. A LARGE room equipped with everything one could wish for (including double sofa, armchair and table) plus a sizeable outside terrace with table and chairs. Plus included airport shuttle and a large choice for the included breakfast

This is a large hotel, no longer new and there is a somewhat fusty smell in the corridors. Feels like they could benefit from a deep clean. And removing the mirrors at each end of the corridors would remove the daunting feeling that the corridor goes on forever.

Best breakfast i eat in my whole ''travel life'' was in this hotel. You can chose from 214124 different foods. Your gonna be amazed. I was thinking how can this hotel allow people to eat this much. You also have premium room so you can eat some casual food and drink some juice and coke. Not highest quality but hey its free so that's a big plus. You can eat some cakes and those kind of things. Room is okay. Parking is Free. GYM IS AMAZING for hotel gym. You will have bench-press and heavier weights. Not like in most hotels you have weights for grandmas. So if your in San Jose THIS hotel is a must! It's not that expensive for premium room and you will have no problems.

The gardens are beautiful, room big and very comfortable and very good swimming pool and adjacent bar/restaurant. The porters/bell boys are very friendly and ready to help

The staff in reception could be more friendly and helpful, the main restaurant is not very good at dinner time, the jacuzzi is indoor in the gym with no division and is way too warm. On Sundays most is the services are closed or close very soon.

I liked the location, it is very near to the sabana park and the airport.

I think breakfast can be improved by adding more choices. On the other hand, to use towels for the pool you have to do a nonsense protocol. First, you have to ask for a ticket in the lobby, after that, go to the gym to ask for a towel in exchange for the ticket and they make you write your name, room number and sign. After you use the towel, you have to return it to the gym where they exchange it for the ticket and finally, you have to return the ticket in the lobby. If you don't do that, they charge you 20 USD for each towel.

Clean and comfortable room. Nicely decorated high value for the price paid. We booked a premium room package with access to the club lounge.

The one recommendation that I have is to have a selection of softer pillows available for patrons who need them. The pillows in the room were bulky and hard and I had a hard time falling asleep. I woke up each day with neck pain. It’s an easy fix so hopefully management will consider this recommendation.

We stayed at Barcelo as the first hotel for our Honeymoon after our flight to San Jose for 2 nights. The staff were so friendly, they left us a lovely Honeymoon surprise and loved the free snack room with food and drinks :) a huge breakfast selection which was lovely. We loved the pool area and it was just the perfect place to relax after our flight and settle into Costa Rica!

We got a bit confused finding the shuttle bus at the airport, we just missed one so ended up getting a taxi and were hugely ripped off - our own fault! but a bit more direction for shuttle pick up would be great!

I can be honest say everything was great but only one thing that i did find out the sliding door on the balcony was not lock and we could not lock it because the lock was not working properly. so I didn't feel comfortable living all are valuables in there. besides that I can say that this is a great hotel , I been here many times before and I will highly recommended to anyone who want to have a very relaxing place to stay and enjoy the friendly hostess, the amazing traditional Costa Rican breakfast one of the best I had. Other then that I can say enough how excellent it was. I think they will manage to fix the lock and everything will be 100% 5* stars i will give you for sure.
