The 2 managers, Mario and Luka, went above and beyond to make our stay a wonderful experience. Personalized service, excellent 3 course breakfast and helpful area recommendations. They also went out of their way to make sure our arrival and departure were stress free. The location of the hotel was excellent, right inside of old town. The rooms were clean and comfortable and on the days we had early excursions and couldn’t make breakfast, they packed us a fantastic box lunch to bring on our excursion. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Perfect location in Split - within minutes of the main strip of restaurants, bus/taxi rank and walking distance to view point. The hotel has its own great restaurant too with delicious breakfasts and great coffee. Makarun is run by truly excellent staff who went out of their way to accommodate for the needs of our family and gave us great recommendations for the best restaurants / beaches too. This was all much appreciated.

We didn’t mind this but there are about 3-4 flights of very steep stairs to get to the top room, where we stayed. All our bags were carried up and down by their incredible staff though.

Location, comfort of the bed, best included breakfast I've ever had. Unfortunately was ill for the first half of my stay, but staff was very understanding. Also, my luggage was stuck in Rome for half of my stay. Ivan took control and made sure I retrieved my luggage and drove to the airport to retrieve it early in the morning. Gave great recommendations and was always available.

The bathroom setup is not ideal with the toilet being inside the shower. Also, hot water is very limited, but this is the case apparently for all properties inside the palace.

Wow!!! If I could rate our stay here as infinity out of 10 I would! Incredible B&B in the heart of Split! Superb location within close proximity to Diocletian’s Palace, the Riva promenade. We initially booked for 2 nights, and we changed our plans from staying on the islands to spending another 2 nights! Mario and Luka went above and beyond for my wife and I. We have never received such tremendous service. From the moment of booking, Mario and Luka communicated punctually via Whats app to recommend how to get there from Plitvice Lakes. They arranged private parking for our hired car, and Luka was waiting for us as we arrived. Luka even assisted with following him to the nearest petrol station and helped me put petrol in the car and then followed him to the car hire drop off. He also gave us restaurant and other recommendations with a map of Split. Mario gave us a free tour of split old town! Mario and Luka have impeccable manners and professionalism in the way they communicate and treat their guests. The accommodation was amazing. We spent our first 2 nights in the Luxury 2 level room Modern design in an 18th century building, then 2 nights in the standard smaller room but that made no difference and still amazing as this B&B is that good! Spotlessly clean rooms, with extremely comfortable beds, smart TV (which we didn’t use as there is too much to see in Split!), stunning bathrooms with olive oil shampoo and shower gel and overhead shower heads. Incredible fresh 3 course breakfast served by Mario (felt like 5 course). Mario kept asking if we wanted more croissants which are baked by them with fantastic local jams. Mario even remembers the coffee you prefer and how you like your eggs the next morning (it is that attention to detail that makes you feel special, as if you are a celebrity). Their restaurant is highly recommended for dinner! Amazing seafood pasta! Loved this place! Exceeded expectations is an understatement! Thank you!!! Perfection…

This shouldn’t even be a question for this B&B. Best place to stay in Split.

This was a very special stay. From the moment we were greeted by our host Ivica and he shared information and history about Spilt over a glass of wine in the Makarun restaurant, we knew we were in for a treat. There are only a few rooms as part of the restaurant (which is very highly regarded in the town) and we felt as though we were treasured guests. The location is incredible, right in the heart of old town. The breakfast every day was delicious and the night we ate in the restaurant was one of the highlights of our European trip. From the food to the service, it was outstanding. Not cheap, but worth it! The room was lovely, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large. But it was the service from everyone that made this stay so special. I wouldn’t hesitate to reccomend it and hope we can come back one day. Thanks Ivica and team!

Nothing, it was perfect.

The staff were really nice and helpful. Mario even sat down with me and went through a map and showed me where my booked tours started from. When one of my tours got cancelled, he even helped me find another one to replace it. I really felt like they wanted to take care of me and this goes a long way when you're traveling alone in a new country. I also loved the fact that both mornings of my stay I left before breakfast and each night they packed me a huge bag of food for the next day with sandwich, fruit, drinks, yogurt, cookies and other other treats! I thought that that was a lovely touch! The room was also very nice and clean. The location is excellent to explore the Old Town. I felt very safe as a solo traveller. Communication and directions prior to arrival were excellent.

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at and will certainly try to be back. Mario, Ivan and the staff made sure everything was as we required and could not do enough for us. Ivan met us from the shuttle bus at the station with umbrellas (it had been raining hard) and arranged for our luggage to be taken to the hotel. He walked with us to the hotel pointing out places of interest. He also gave us a map showing the local places to visit which we used and enjoyed the beautiful beaches and restaurants he suggested. The breakfast was 4 courses including eggs, yoghurt, croissant, and cake with as much coffee as you want. Unfortunately we only had one lunch here which was delicious and we wished we had eaten here more often. The accommodation was excellent and could not be faulted.

Everything! The hospitality was the best we received in our 5 week trip! Luka met us at the car park, organised a pick up, gave us a wonderful comprehensive list of tips and recommendations and a welcome drink. The room was 5 star, bed luxurious, bathroom shower was so so good. Windows are double glazed and door has a sound proof panel so you don't get restaurant noise. The breakfast was outstanding and the waitress was delightful despite our early starts. We both used to work in the travel industry and have high standards, this was fantastic. Well done Luka and Mario. Better than 10/10

Luca, Marco and all of the staff went above and beyond - super friendly and accommodating. I was met from my ferry and given a guided tour on the way to the hotel and my luggage carried. The breakfast was absolutely delicious everyday, table service and a number of courses including dessert! I was fortunate to have lunch at the hotel due to Marco's kindness and it was 5 stars, the best in Croatia! The room was lovely and very comfortable, I wanted to take the pillows home they were so soft! excellent location in the Old Town, close to all sights. I was also given fantastic recommendations for restaurants, galleries, top sights etc. My taxi to the airport was also organised. I would 100% return in a heartbeat. One of the nicest places I've ever stayed.

Makarun is centrally located in the old part of town and perfect for sightseeing. It’s tricky to find so it was helpful that they were very responsive and met us at our taxi and helped with luggage. The breakfast each morning was delicious and made to order - they even put together a to-go breakfast for us to take when we did a day excursion to Plitvice. Ivan and Tea and everyone made us feel welcome. Our room was small but had everything we needed - comfortable bed, air conditioning, small refrigerator, bathroom with all toiletries.
