An unexpected hospital stay for my husband led me to Hotel Escola. It was close to the Private Hospital and reasonably priced. I could not have asked for anywhere better. The staff were outstanding and took care of me and anything that I needed. The breakfast buffet was simple but good. The dining room was big and spacious with amazing views. My room had a balcony which overlooked the ocean and surrounding countryside and had amazing sunsets. When my husband was discharged and came back to the hotel with me he was welcomed by the staff and manager. I felt that I was at home. It was an amazing place to stay during a very difficult time for me.

As said in previous reviews the decor is a little tired but it wasn't something I would say I didn't like. Some new bath towels and bed pillows would be nice .

Rooms are a bit tired but functional. The staff, the breakfast, the location, the free parking and beach towels, the everiday cleaning and the views are spectacular. Special thanks to Gonsal from reception, i hope i got the name right, but all the staff are great and helpful. Great stay.

The hotel is in a calm area, not too many tourists around. There are several bus stops nearby, so you can be in the city center in 20-25min. The beach and ocean is near to the hotel, only some minutes walk. The staff in the hotel was always friendly, helpful and kind. The room I stayed in had a view to the ocean which was very nice. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

I think the hotel is not a 4star hotel. It could be a bit renovated (the carpet had marks on it, the furnitures were old). The breakfast was nice, I loved the fruits, but usually the cheese/omlette were always the same. Not too many vegetables were offered.

- The view was amazing - The hotel was very quiet and clean - Enough space for 2 peoples - The breakfast was good - Receptionist, friendly and directed us on the different means of transport near the hotel. - Bus at 2 minutes from the hotel and aerobus at 5 minutes - The breakfast room is very clean and refined (cutlery, cloth, ...) everything is provided carefully as in a restaurant +, the view from the restaurant of the hotel is beautiful with a view on garden and ocean In short I recommend for people who want a quiet hotel

- Hotel a little far from the center if you like walking it will take almost 1h otherwise by bus at 2 min from the hotel it's very fast and ticket cost (1,95 euros) but it's what makes it a quiet hotel no noise around the hotel nor noise of traffics it's in a small street

It was fantastic value for money. The room had a balcony with a fabulous view. The room was cleaned daily, and literally every single staff member couldn't have been more helpful, welcoming or friendly. Lovely buffet breakfast. About an hours walk from Funchal, which we did a couple of times, but an easy direct bus.

The pillow on my bed was too high which made my neck ache. The balcony paintwork could do with a freshen up. No transport at all on New Year's Eve, and an hour's uphill walk!

I liked the very friendly staff.Excellent location,close to the beach and bus stop to the airport.There is a small parking lot on site.A small balcony overlooking the ocean and the room is quite large,there is a mini refrigerator,but there is not enough kettle.Breakfast is modest,tasty,but hungry you won’t stay.You can stay for a couple of nights.I liked that checkout from the hotel is before 12.00p.m.Thanks!

Once upon a time the hotel was a stable 4*, but now it is no more than 3*. The carpet in the room is old and needs to be replaced or removed altogether.There is no kettle.

Very nice, polite service. Every time you make eye contact with hotel employees- they smile. You can see that they really care about their guests' satisfaction. Daily room cleaning, clean towels every day, no problems with communication in English - all this is a big plus. Good hotel location. I recommend staying at this hotel. If I ever come to Madeira again, I will definitely stay here again :)

Unfortunately there was the same choice for breakfast every day. If someone stays here for a week, the only minus that the same version of breakfast is every day. This was the only minus that I noticed during my stay in this hotel, but I do not regret choosing it, I could always do worse, only the same products every day, mostly at breakfast, but always fresh and cleanly served.

The room was comfortable and clean. Friendly staff. Good location near the beach. Breakfast was good but always the same, no vegetables.

The breakfast was simple and good, fresh fruit every day. The room was also simple, but it was enough, we didn't have ocean view, but we still had a little balcony, which was nice. The pool was nice to cool down after hiking.

The bed was basically two matrasses pushed together, which caused a hole between mattresses every night. The hair dryer could be replaced. The room service left our room unlocked twice, but after talking to the hotel staff it didn't happen again.
