Beautiful hotel , great roof top area with a pool and bar. Comfortable beds , everything clean. Staff professional and friendly , we requested taxi to airport through the hotel and because we left before 6am staff prepared us breakfast to take with us. Great breakfast served from 7:30-10:30 , great options for everyone’s taste. Great location , close to the old town , cable car , ocean. Lot of souvenir shops and restaurants in old town. I would love to return one day.

Our room was on the road side and even with closed windows it was really noisy. Specially around early morning and 10-11pm motorbikes and cars made a lot of noise.

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, modern hotel. Good for business stays but too bland and lacking in character for a leisure stay. We had a lovely meal but a basement restaurant with no windows is not a great setting. The roof top bar was good though, it'd be nice if the restaurant was up there instead.

Really lovely hotel. Amazing location, and staff were great. Very easy check in, great breakfast included, clean and comfortable room with a fridge and large bottle of water that they refill every day. Lovely rooftop bar with nice drinks and pool that unfortunately we didnt get to use as the weather was a bit cold but looked so nice. Service was good, all staff were so pleasant. What really made it special is that during the day, a bottle of prosecco and muffins were left in the room for my birthday. I did not mention anything about my birthday or make a huge deal so was not expecting it at all but they noticed the date on my passport and made the effort. This extra touch really made the stay special. If you are staying in Funchal, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Only con is that there is no iron in the room, only an ironing service. I prefer to do my own ironing as it is faster. But this was a minor detail.

This was our second time staying at Turim Santa Maria and it was most enjoyable again. Excellent location, near old town but on a quiet tree-lined street, close proximity to all town amenities & promenade.Staff are excellent here friendly , efficient and most profesional & acccomodating.A special mention for Luigi who was most helpful & informative also Tanya.Lovely breakfast, great variety food, fresh and very well presented by staff there. Rooms were very clean, modern, good facilities and beds very comfortable.Excellent lighting, ensuite very well laid out & spacious.Hotel spacious & modern overall,lovely foyer giving the appearance of calm and relaxing.Living wall along the steps down to the dining room is a lovely feature,and this is repeated on the walls of the hotel on the roof by the swimming pool.The rooftop pool is a fabulous feature, with 360o view all around from the town, sea and hills. Shaded sun beds also available. We were granted our request for a room with balcony facing the sea, which we absolutely loved.WE would HIGHLY recommend this Hotel in Funchal.

Would definitely recommend this hotel! The location is great, you can get to all the places by foot. It is near a busy road, we left our window for the first nights, so it was really noisy. Decided then to use the air-con and you should just do that as well for a good night's sleep :D it is really quiet and doesn't make the awful air, they normally do. The rooftop is amazing, the drinks and food at the bar are great as well and the pool area is just amazing. We spent so much time on the daybeds, they are really great and you have fantastic views over the city.

Only downside: the coffee (at breakfast and in the rooftop bar) is just awful.

Very clean Great choice of breakfast Food in the evening was lovely They had nice toiletries. Sometimes you are chilling in your room and it was nice on their star channels to have some English TV.

Not enough choice of the evening meal menu if you eat there more than once. Not a too bad thing, but most of my dresses are long and the wardrobes are short. I took 5 of my own coat hangers. So at least I could hang them from the door as their coat hangers are fixed in the wardrobe, so I wouldn’t have been able to hang them inside without them being scrunched up.

Great location for town and sights. Near the cablecar but very quiet area and well soundproofed. Great size twin room but they made a double bed at my request with a topper, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Staff were polite and helpful. Lovely breakfast with fresh fruit and a great mix of items. Directly opposite s small free museum which is worth a visit. We were on floor 6 with lovely views over the avenue and the jacaranda trees were a sea of purple blooms

Coffee was dreadful. No bidet. But minor quibbles

The room was very specious, which we did not expect upon booking the property. There was plenty of space to store all our belongings and the bathroom was spacious as well. For being excellently located at Funchal center, this was a pleasant surprise. The breakfast was included in the price and served a lot of foods which slightly changed from day to day.

The property does have a swimming pool in order to make it a 4-star hotel, but it is very small and not heated. The 360° bar on the roof is nice, but don't come here simply for the swimming pool.

Our room with a seaview (on the 6th floor) exceeded our expectations. It was spacious and comfortable: we particularly liked the large balcony with a table and two chairs where we read, enjoyed a drink and could people watch. Every member of staff was warm, happy to help, and professional. Choices available at breakfast were excellent and constantly replenished. The hotel is an easy walk to a number of the sights and a wide choice of restaurants. The roof terrace is a plus: a small plunge pool in which to cool off; loungers, deckchairs and a choice of tables and chairs; a bar serving drinks and snacks with a smile!

The coffee at breakfast was grim, no matter how we tried to circumvent what came out of the machine. The very thin toilet paper is probably the thinnest we have ever had to use.

Excellent service from the hotel reception staff even before our stay, really efficient helpful responses to my enquiries; stayed in deluxe room-lovely balcony and view, great decor, clean, and quiet, optional room music was fab, great shower, comfy bed, complimentary water; delicious hot and cold breakfast buffet, with hot and cold drinks etc free drink voucher for roof top bar with great views; we ran out of time to have a dip in the pool! great location for cable, old town bars/ restaurants, market, seafront buses etc; complimentary bubbly and cakes in our room on my birthday was such a lovely surprise! Thanks to the hotel director, and to all staff at Turim Santa Maria Hotel, we really enjoyed our stay, big thumbs up, would stay again! Best regards, Joanna
