There were 2 outstanding staff members that we would like to mention. Rick and Pelayo. They were both very helpful, kind, friendly and always smiling. When we left or arrived back to the hotel, they always greeted us and wanted to know how our day was and what they could do for us. Rick even greeted us by name! They made our stay more enjoyable I especially enjoyed the pillow menu.

The room was quite dark, not enough lighting. The air conditioning vents pointed right toward the beds, and it was a bit uncomfortable to sit on the bed without being under the covers.

I was primarily there to attend an international conference. The Hotel was well able to set up for the hotel guests and also accomodate meetings and presentations. The city center was exploding with beautiful flowers, the Guggenheim was a 10 min walk and a big variety of quaint Tapas and cafes closeby. Most important were the staff. Everyone looked so well turned out. I felt very well cared for. This was my first visit to Spain and I had a few more questions than I imagined. The front desk people (Roberto, Raphael, Giuseppi, and a special mention to Rick who was endlessly patient, knowledgeable and kind. I was embarrassed to show my level of ignorance but I needed to finish some reports etc., and he was ever so helpful to me with utilizing the Business Center computer and printer. He is at least dual lingual and respectful.

I would have liked to have known about the lovely, cozy, upstairs balcony sooner. Somehow I missed it until my last two nights. It was so lovely for having a martini, reading, watching and listening to the city or a chat.

We had to write this review!! Mr. Roberto greeted us when we came and when we left in a way we truly have never been greeted before, his genuine welcome and smile made our day after our long drive to reach the hotel. His witty character and warm smile is unmatched to any other. Also a big thanks to Mr. Rick who also greeted us with a warm smile and some nice jokes. Truly exceptional! Thank you!

Everything was amazing

The staff, Rick, in partícular, was beyond helpful. The accommodations were very clean and thoughtfully put together.

Everything was pricey including 30 euros for daily parking.

The hotel has an historic look and feel and is well located in Abando district, great for shopping and eating. The gym was well equipped for a weights workout - much better than most hotel gyms. The rooms were really large and our bathroom even had a double sink.

I loved everything.

The hotel offers an exceptional guest experience, beginning with its generously spacious and beautifully decorated rooms. Each room is thoughtfully designed with a sophisticated sense of style that extends throughout the entire property. The view from the windows was nothing short of spectacular, providing a stunning panorama of the central square. Additionally, the staff was a true highlight—their consistently polite and friendly demeanor made every interaction a pleasure. The efficiency of the operation was also impressive, with both the check-in and check-out processes being remarkably fast and smooth.

The hotel's design and style are exceptionally chic and create a very luxurious atmosphere. While I truly enjoyed the overall experience, a few small details didn't quite match the high-end feel. I noticed that some of the carpets were worn, the TV wasn't a smart TV, and the hair dryer was quite weak. The bedsheet in my room was also torn, and the hair conditioner seemed to be old, leaving a residue. Addressing these smaller maintenance points would bring the overall guest experience in line with the hotel's otherwise high-quality and expensive feel.

Good location and great service. Rick provided exceptional service. Very spacious room with all the amenities.

Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, Breakfast is amazing, location couldn’t be better, room is clean and bed is comfortable.

We stayed in room 609, the room size, bathroom and room amenities, were below expectations compared to the photo gallery! Despite that, we loved it!

This is not Richard, reviewing the stay - it is his wife. This was our second stay at the Carlton, the first being superb. My husband and I arrived at the hotel, parked at the entrance to unload and check-in; however, immediately we were relieved of our luggage, our car keys were requested for parking, before being escorted to the reception area, where a welcoming smile awaited. A simple check-in and we were escorted to our room. What a room, it was splendid. A balcony to scan the city from, a bath to swim in and a most comfortable lounge area. In fact, we could have invited a dozen or more people to enjoy a party. The staff throughout, as they were the first visit, were fantastic. The location is marvellous, access to all transport options, walking distance of restaurants, shops, et cetera. A great hotel.
