The hotel is well located, right next to a metro station, 4 stations away from Plaza Catalunya (10 mins ride). It looks like in the pictures. Standard rooms are a bit small, rather crowded, but good for a 2-3 nights stay. Free wi-fi works very good.

The staff speaks very poor English and are rather slow. At breakfast there is only one cook at the omlet station which causes to form a que, break fast is Intercontinental decent but not worth 25 euros. Much in the range of 15-20 euros. The entire hotel is non smoking, no balconies. But the most disturbing thing is the staff’s poor English skills which makes is very difficult if you have a request or a problem to solve. Not even the reception staff don’t have enough speaking skills.

Our room was the perfect size, and the bed was quite comfy. The view of the Montjuïc Fountains must be amazing when they are working. Even without the fountains, the view was still incredible! The metro is just around the corner. Breakfast was amazing—fresh vegetables, fruits, fresh juice, all kinds of milk, nuts, pancakes, omelets, yogurt, etc.

In February, it was very hot inside for us, and the air conditioning was only working on heating. It was also super noisy if we tried to leave the windows open overnight. I believe the air conditioning remained on heating mode until April. Nobody cleaned our shower at all. Towels weren’t changed, which is fine. The staff didn’t explain anything to us, such as the breakfast hours or how the lifts work. Breakfast is quite expensive because of the location. However, you can’t find anything better for the same price. We tried some nearby cafés—they were a bit cheaper, but for me, the quality was incomparable.

Catalonia Barcelona Plaza was a beautiful, clean, well situated hotel. The location was easy to get to from the cruise port. Very easy to get to the airport The restaurant was very chic. The food was delicious. There is a subway station a few feet away, many busses and taxis run right in front of the property. Across the street is a museum, a coliseum type building with a mall, multiplex movie theater, as well as several restaurants on the top level. Awesome hotel!!!!!

Loved the property entirely!

The room (Suite) was really big and cosy, and the pictures were accurate. The breakfast was really great, with lots of delicious options! The staff were very friendly and responded to my requests each time. The location is extremely convenient, with the metro just outside the hotel and various bus stops across the plaza. The Iberian pork from the room service menu is a must have!!

The cleaners could and should do a better job. On several occasions, the glasses were not cleaned, the water was not replaced, and the floor was not mopped. I had to ask for this to be done. They did respond quickly each time though, I must say, and politely.

The building is beautifully decorated with a modern well kept feel inside. Every one of the hotel staff I interacted with were lovely and very prompt with any requests or assistance I needed. I booked a view room (totally worth the price difference) and really enjoyed my down time sipping tea and watching the bustle around Paca Espanya and Monjuic. The rooftop had a pool and bar which was hopping busy every time I went up, but never did not have a chance to try out either. The views of the Plaça and city were even better than my room, so watched the city celebrate Saint Joan from there. As for the room, the bed was comfortable and they provided all the pillows one person could use in a lifetime. My room had 3 different firmness of pillows, a really nice touch. AC was solid. Major bonus to return to on one particularly hot day out and about. Though for me, the most impressive was the storage wall. It was attractive and kept the room looking tidy and homy when closed, and had copious amounts of space. Even for my giant suitcases. Bonus: not having to squat down or crawl on the floor for the safe, it was at eye level. Brunch had a wide variety of quality selections for all tastes, but was a bit spendy for a modest appetite. Most mornings, I checked out local spots in the nearest block or two. Found lots food options and shops all within easy (block or two) walking distance, or further if you are up for exploring. The most convenient was Buena Migas on the corner, and part of the hotel building. Food was delicious and very affordable, and for a Cafe style shop, they had a good selection to choose from. I tred their focaccia (not usually a fan. But I couldn't get enough) and yogurt parfaits. Sandwiches, pastas, pastries, and coffee were popular with other customers, as well. Up the streets behind the hotel are many friendly bars and and small restaurants with great food. I particularly enjoyed Cheers Bistro Bar for the sidewalk seating and cheap but tasty tapas.

There were really only a couple things that were not optimal, nothing major. My key card had to be reprogrammed a couple times and then still required a bit of patience and sometimes a few attempts to work. I noticed other guests had similar problems so maybe just the system itself. Occassionally I noticed a moderately unpleasant odor coming from the toilet area, like there was no drain trap. It was mostly when returning to my room or when the lav door had been closed for a while during a hot day.. To be fair, I smelled it at the previous hotel and other places too, so also could be norm in Barcelona.

Staffvwas very nice and the location is very good. The room was upgraded and it was very big and comfortable.

It was clear they had an ingoing issue with the elevators. Everyone had to struggle with the key card readers which mostly didn't work. Due to the location, there is a bit of nouse (at least in the rooms facing the plaza), but turning on the AC masked it. There were a couple of things need to be fixed but nothing major. Overall it was also very busy but it is expected in such a large hotel in a central place. Will give it another try asking for a room not facing the plaza.

The roof top pool was very enjoyable. The location was excellent for sightseeing and the metro right outside the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice view over the plaza. The breakfast was worth getting. The staff were accommodating with storing suitcases on our last day and offering to stay in the room past the check out time (12noon) for an additional charge and allowing us to continue using the pool area for the day.

Operating the lift with the room card was not straight forward resulting in many guests holding up the lifts (us included on the first day!) trying to figure out how to operate it or getting new room cards if the existing cards didn't work. We also booked half board, but recommend you do not do this. It is not worth it, as the menu consisted of three different options for starter, main and desert and when the food arrived it was sub standard. Not equivalent to a restaurant, more like pub food. After 2 days we decided to eat out, thats how bad it was.

The breakfast is exceptional. Comfortable rooms.

The bathroom was a major disappointment — all the pipes seemed clogged, so whenever we washed our faces or hands, the sink would fill up and the water wouldn’t drain for a long time. This is not what I would expect from a hotel of this standard. Also the pool was thump and over crowded. Finally the reception employee requested to pay the city taxes and breakfast when we checked out without checking the system that we had already paid all these costs at our arrival. She finally found out after showing the booking.

I stayed at Hotel Catalonia in Barcelona for 3 days. The location is fantastic, with the metro right at the doorstep and several bus stops within a 5-minute walk. The area around the hotel is convenient, with a mall (Arenas) and several restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby, making it easy to find everything you need without leaving the area. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. We arrived at 1 PM, even though check-in was at 3 PM, and our room was ready, so they allowed us to check in early. Although I didn't try the breakfast, I had dinner and visited the bar on two occasions. The meals and drinks were very good. It's also a great perk that they offer 24-hour room service. The room had body soap, shampoo, a dental kit, a shower cap, and complimentary water, but it would be nice if they included Kleenex and body lotion in the amenities. There's also a minibar in the room. The views from our room and the terrace were magnificent!

I wish I had nothing negative to mention, but there are a few details that need attention: The bathroom design was inconvenient as the toilet area wasn't separated from the rest of the bathroom. The bathroom extractor fan didn't work. The shower had good water pressure and heated up quickly ( 4th floor room ), but the drainage was slow, causing it to flood. Additionally, I found towels and a bathrobe that seemed unclean, with visible stains. The elevators were insufficient for the number of guests, and the card mechanism for elevator access to your room floor was problematic.

Nice hotel with very nice restaurant/bar/breakfast area.

In winter the airconditioning turns into heating only with no option to bring down the room temperature. Room was constantly at 25°C, went up to 33°C with aircon/heating.
