The room, the pool, express breakfast, the staff, especially Gwen

No kettle, coffee, mugs in room. Only paper cups. Should have been glass. For a 4 star hotel, there should have been nicer amenities in room. Info was confusing re express breakfast. In room info, it said it was in the bar. But it was in breakfast room.

The hotel is very well situated for getting about the centre of the city and is in a quiet street. There are dozens of restaurants nearby, within a five minute walk, and we were impressed with the ones we used. Our room was small, but clean and comfortably furnished, overlooking the street at the front. The staff were always friendly and helpful, speaking English, and we liked the rather old fashioned custom of having to hand our key in when we went out. The room was exceptionally well serviced each day. We appreciated the room's air conditioning, free wi-fi and tv. There is a useful supermarket opposite, maze-like but well stocked. Surprisingly, the hotel has a grotto-like pool, underused but available daily and a bonus for some.

Breakfast was available but we thought expensive at 20€pp so we just had a 'continental' croissant (bought opposite) with coffee at a popular very French open-air bar on the corner. Our room had no fridge and no refreshment facilities (though maybe an 'upgraded' larger room would?). The shower and separate (unusual!) toilet-room were very cramped and would not suite a larger person, though this was not a problem for us.

The hotel could do more homework on recommending best value parking. We chose Parking du Gros Caillou which is cheaper than those closer to the hotel and gave easy access and exit for the centre. but a 20 min walk on a slope. Prices indicated on Websites were often not up to date. Still paid euro 38 for 26hrs If I was returning to Lyon by car I would do more homework see if a hotel with parking provision could work. Without a car I would recommend the Grand Hotel

Absolutely loved it. V quiet room with good dark curtains . We were in 411, do note that the lift is tiny and our level was split so there were some stairs but a strong young lad was available to help with the bags. All the front desk staff spoke excellent English and were delightful. The supermarket exit is directly opposite the hotel doors so you only need to go about 20 metres around the corner to get in. Plenty of food options around. The relaxation pools were very enjoyable, heated enough to not be chilly but still refreshing and the bathrobes work really well to help dry you off, then we dried our bathers on the heated towel rail in the bathroom.

Had to ask for a kettle, and byo tea,coffee, mug etc but not a big deal.

The room was fine although a little basic for a junior suite. the biggest issue with the hotel is the pool area - the jacuzzi is actually pretty cold and it is only open in the afternoon and evening as it is literally next to the breakfast area with no where to change or even hang dressing gowns. It is a shame!

Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Handicap bench was in the bathroom for the tub without asking. That was important to us.

Steps in and out of the elevator were inconvenient for my handicap wife, but there is nothing you can do about that. There were two of us in the room, but only one bath towel. We would’ve asked for more, but we were only there for two days.

I had a truly wonderful stay at the Hotel des Terreaux. I am extremely satisfied with this choice. The location was perfect, right in the city center, close to most attractions, as well as good coffee shops and several supermarkets. The staff were very friendly and helpful, always ready to assist me with anything I needed. Another great advantage of this hotel is the swimming pool. It was warm enough to warm up after a cold long walk outside. A really great way to unwind after a day of exploring the city. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a good heating system, free drinking water, and all the toiletries provided. Overall, the hotel is very clean and well-maintained. I loved the free candies at the reception desk:) I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lyon.

Singe-use cups in the bathroom was an upsetting thing. There were no reusable cups and spoons in the room, so I had to take them from the hotel restaurant.

The pool was awesome. Location is great. The room was a generous size and decorated lovely. Bathroom was very clean and facilities in general were a high standard.

Some of the reception staff were awesome. Some staff were cold and indifferent.

Amazing hotel. We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The location was perfect—right in the center of town, yet still quiet and pleasant. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and spoke excellent English. It was also a very fair price for such a perfect place. Highly recommended!

There weren't many plugs in the room, but that wasn't an issue.

Air con, pool(s), comfy bed, perfect location, everything you could need from a hotel. If you need anything, ask and the staff will go and get it with a smile (especially kettles. Have seen a few reviews saying no kettle provided. This is France, and the French don't understand tea. This hotel happily does understand that British people like tea, and so has the required facilities, you just have to ask).

I didn't like my other hotel, hence why I booked this one.
