Friendly staff always had a greeting for you and keen to help you. Rooms were spotless and quiet. Couldn't hear neighbours or much sound from outside except the odd siren. Very spacious for Tokyo area. Food was of excellent quality every day with breakfast offering a cooked dish and buffet. Location was handy for train, metro and buses to get around and half hour walk to Asakusa which was a busling area with lots to see and do. Very much recommend this hotel

Although booked for bed znd breakfast, we had an early trip, meaning we had to leave before breakfast opened. They dont do takeout breakfast bags but we were allowed to transfer to use against dinner (but not at the full breakfast cost). So, we ate in the restaurant one evening and chose the set taster menu. The main course offered a choice of pork or beef (so we chose one each) but didn't make clear that the beef was more expensive turned out (£12 more expensive ) and with taxes and service charge, it ended up a very costly meal.

Loved the location which was near a train station, lots of halal restaurant options and just a very central (yet not too crazy) area. The property is clean and the rooms are modern albeit small (but that’s Tokyo for you).

For whatever reason this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at and it wasn’t the most luxurious. We didn’t even have breakfast. If you’re a group of 3 (like we were) you might want to look elsewhere. There’s little to no privacy from the bathroom to the bedroom. You’ll be struggling to change clothes.. it’s just too tight and no privacy.

The hotel was quiet, serene and beautiful and really felt like a sanctuary from the intensity of everything that is downtown Tokyo. The beds were exceptionally comfortable and we loved all the touches like the eco-friendly and artisanal products, beautiful toiletries, tea. Breakfast was delicious and interesting. Our rooms felt surprisingly spacious. The location is ideal - on a quiet street, but so close to Ameyoko and the restaurants, bars and shops around Ueno, the station with multiple train lines, and Ueno park with its museums and galleries.

We had an excellent stay at NOHGA HOTEL UENO TOKYO! The location was incredibly convenient, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. The hotel's look and feel were modern and inviting, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast was fantastic, with a variety of delicious options to suit every taste. The cleanliness throughout the property was impeccable, which we truly appreciated. Highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

While the hotel had its positives, we were disappointed with the staff’s approach to service. As a family, we felt somewhat overlooked, as staff seemed to focus more on single travelers or couples. During check-in, we were left waiting while others who arrived after us were attended to first, which was frustrating. While the property itself was wonderful, the lack of attentiveness toward families impacted our overall experience.

It's my third time staying here, so clearly I am a fan of this hotel. I've always had a great stay. Rooms are well equipped and very very clean, love it. Not a huge room but not too small either. This time around i didn't have much natural light into my room....but I was out most of the day so it's fine. Staff are exceptional. The full price is probably a little steep bu I have always managed to get a discount, which does make it worth it. Not many hotels this nice in the area....feels pretty upmarket. Only a short stroll from Ueno station too, so great access.

Two things make a hotel- the people who run it and the location. The people were top notch. Friendly and worked well together providing a lovely and welcoming atmosphere. Location wonderful. Quiet yet close to train, lovely park, waking distance of amazing sushi, bar nightlife, shopping, electronics district. Breakfast outstanding with amazing friendly service with both service and food some of best we’ve ever had at a hotel. All staff were helpful and spoke very good English. We had some unusual requests and they helped by calling venues and ordering delivery for our teens. Also helpful with luggage forwarding. We had 2 rooms for our party- one suite with a view of the skytree and another corner room. Both quiet, comfortable and clean.

Really good location - easy access to Ueno station (approx 5 min walk), which is a great base to explore Tokyo - close to all the Ueno shops and restaurants but across the road - alot quieter on this side but just 5 mins to the busy part. - 7-11 right outside the hotel - easy access to late night snacks or extra water/drinks or anything you might have forgotten to pack. 2. The staff were really friendly. Always happy to help. 3. Comfy room. Bed was a little on the harder side but still very comfortable

+ A very elegant boutique hotel in a quiet part of Ueno. + Being a boutique (i.e. small) hotel the service is immediate and impeccable. + Excellent location, 5-10 minute walk to the action in Ueno and the main train station. + Top quality coffee in the bistro. + It was nice to sit and people-watch in the bistro as many well dressed, stylish Japanese people go there. + One night there was free jazz in the bistro. + High attention to detail in the room from the decor, layout to the facilities. + Highest quality toilet that opens and closes automatically. + Shower pressure can be adjusted to very high, like having a massage. You can also adjust the lighting in the shower (!). + High quality toiletries e.g. razor, hair conditioner that made our hair feel very silky.

We were lucky to stay there in the low season so could afford the room rate but otherwise it is quite expensive. The bistro reflected this with high prices. But if you can afford to spoil yourself, this is the place!

Location = perfect and just a few minutes from the hyper convenient Ueno station for metro and rail. Rooms = super high tech and comfortable! Such a luxurious experience. Breakfast = fresh salad and lovely fruit, mimosas, tasty croissants and breads, and a great main dish to add. Not quite as expansive as the Kyoto location. Staff = hospitality personified; they quickly gave our room an extra clean when it wasn’t perfect when we moved in, and gave us drink tickets as an apology — they are all so nice! Amenities = an oasis in the city! Gym has dumbbells from 5-80 pounds, a rowing machine and treadmill. Laundry machines are great for long trips! The best hotel that is affordable for many travelers.

It would be nice if the bathroom light switch was inside with the toilet, but that’s basically all I can think of and this light/toilet system is all over Japan!

Before coming to tokyo, I was thinking of staying near shinjuku or shibuya for convenience. But after looking at different sites, everyone kept saying that Ueno was the way to go and they were right! This place is located very close to Ueno station. Pretty much anywhere you want to go to tokyo, you can go there by going to the ueno station bc there are tons of metro lines going through there. The hotel staff was very friendly. Forgot your toiletries? The hotel has some for you near the front desk. Dont want to use the hotel toiletries? There are 7/11 pretty much on every block that you can go to for those and other snacks. Want to go out and eat some late night snacks? There is a HUGE market a few minutes away by walking and you can pick and choose from any local stalls. Too lazy and prefer a place a few steps away? There are tons of other restaurants outside of the hotel as well. Want to get tax free cosmetic/skincare gifts for your fam/friends? Yup, theyre located everywhere near the hotel.

There are 2 washers and 2 dryers. We used the washers, went downstairs, just to find out the guests before us decide to add 1 extra hr to the drying time. Luckily, theres a 24 hr laundromat 6 minutes away from the hotel by walking. We went there and dried our clothes for 200 yen. Cheap as can be. And way quicker on drying time too.
