Great location near Ueno station, close to Asakusa, and just a walk away from Ueno park and the National museum. Ueno station offers many shops, underground, local trains, and shinkansen. One can get there easily after landing at Haneda (one change at Hamamatsucho connected by Monorail to Haneda). The staff is very friendly and helpful, one feels welcomed there. Many cafes, restaurants, and eateries nearby. Very clean and comfortable (a washing machine, a kettle, a microwave oven, a shower, and a bath are all available in the apartment). This hotel offers help with sending your luggage to the following place on you route, so highly recommended if you travel around Japan.

The room was very comfortable, and fairly spacious, especially when we folded up the sofa bed. It wasn't like a fancy hotel as much as a clean mini-apartment. We didn't use the stove (since little noodle shops and mini-markets made eating out so easy) but it was convenient having a fridge and being able to make breakfast and coffee. The bathroom (separate rooms for bath and for the toilet) were clean, new, and worked well. To be honest, the high-tech toilet was fantastic, and we'll have a hard time living without one back here in the US.
Wi-fi was a little choppy. We liked that area fine, but Ueno is not right at the heart of most of the tourist attractions, so we had some long subway rides.

As a family of 5 for us it's always difficult to find a room spacious enough and the room at Hotel Aima was perfect. Location, I would chose it again and again, since Ueno station is at a few minutes walking distance and from there you can take public transports to move around all Tokyo. The neighborhood is lively, full of restaurants and cafes. The hotel is not on a main road so very quiet. The room has all the comforts, including little kitchen with microwave, water boiler for coffee or tea.
I would have liked to have the possibility to have breakfast at the hotel, but there is not facility and for the high price of the room, I find this is missing. There is no staff welcoming you at the front desk, but it has to be called through a bell. To be said is that they come immediately when called and they are nice, but the sensation is not that welcoming and warm since nobody is present when you arrive at the hotel.

One of the few good choices in my opinion on the eastern side of Tokyo for longer stays. Relatively new hotel. Sizeable room (by Tokyo standards) and big beds to accommodate more than two. Apartment facilities such as cooking stoves, washing machine (comes with washing detergent), and clothes dryer (use the one in the bathroom - everything you wash will be dry overnight). There is an English manual in the room to teach you how to use the appliances. 5 minutes walk to food and shopping street. 5 minutes walk via sky bridge to Ueno Station, which is a major transportation hub for Shinkansen and local trains (2 stops to Akihabara, 3 stops to Asakusa, 7 stops to Ginza). 5 minutes walk to the Keisei-Ueno Station, which is connected directly to the Narita Airport via the Skyliner.
It is an apartment hotel, so don’t expect the usual hotel service. You will be requested to fill up an online form prior to your arrival (instead of having the hotel reception to do it for you). Room cleaning not available everyday and you will need to handle (and separate) your own trash. They have a 24-hour reception so you can request for towels or luggage deposit.

- The rooms are clean and well equipped with kitchen appliances, utensils, washing machine, humidifier, toiletries, towels etc... - The front desk people especially the nice lady who checked us in is very accommodating, helpful and friendly. Same with the young man who is on duty in the afternoon. - The location is very accessible to Ueno station which makes it a good base for travelling around Downtown Tokyo (Shibuya, Shinjuku, Omote-sando, Roppongi and Ginza area) plus very near the Kesei Skyliner station going to and from the Narita Airport. - very near the shopping areas in Ueno and Ameyoko food and shopping street.
Nothing major except for the small room size which is common in Tokyo. Overall, Hotel Aima is a very excellent place to stay especially for families with young kids like us.

The location was very convenient. Ueno train station 5-10 min away. And express airport train Skyliner 10 min away. The apartment had a washing machine, an integrated bathroom ventilation with clothing drying function, and a small stove and some basic kitchenware.
I missed a kitchen towel. There is no workspace, and the dish drain does not have a mat or a tray under, so the water drips down on the floor. We had a room with 3 Double beds, which was great for our family, but it meant that there was no space to move around in the room. We actually had to rearrange the beds to get more floor space.

Our stay at Hotel Aima was a mix of positives and challenges. The biggest issue was the size of the room, which we do expect in Japan but it was extremely cramped and definitely a struggle for our family of five. It would be much better suited to a smaller group or solo travelers. Only noting this for any future large family groups. That said, the beds were super comfortable, the room was spotlessly clean, and the added bonus of a washing machine and drying room was incredibly helpful during our stay. The staff were absolutely lovely and very welcoming and helpful throughout. The location was fantastic, just a short walk to Ueno Station, making it very convenient for getting around Tokyo. There were plenty of convenience stores and great local restaurants nearby too. While the room size was a challenge, the comfort, cleanliness, and location made it a good stay overall

Staff were super friendly and super helpful when it came to getting more amenities, or booking an airport transfer. The family room was spacious enough, impressive for a hotel in tokyo. The location was pretty good a few meters away from the train station. Many food and drink spots nearby.
To get to the hotel from the train station involved a few flights of stairs, not too convenient for large luggage (optionally you could walk a little further down the road to cross the street using zebra crossing)

Hotel gave us some free cup noodle, those are really nice noodle, especially the curry flavor one. Very good location, there is a small grocery store 1 minute walk from the hotel. so you can buy some food and cook in the hotel. very close to the sky liner which take you to the airport, 2000 yen per person, 50 minutes. night life is great here, lots of food options at night, thousands of locals come eat at probably 200-300 restaurants nearby on the street mostly. I love the atmosphere.

The hotel rooms are set up as mini apartments, so we had everything we needed to make meals (though we didn't since we just stayed one night) and do laundry. Great location, easy walk to Ueno Park, Ueno Station and surrounding shopping area. Compared to other hotels we stayed in, the room was very quiet; couldn't hear any traffic or outside noise and had great blackout curtains. We arrived early before our check in time and the hotel was able to hold our luggage while we explored. Also appreciated the free instant ramen!
The room, like many in Japan, was small but it worked well for our family of 3.
