Browns Downtown in Lisbon perfectly balances elegance with urban flair, creating a stylish and welcoming retreat in the heart of the city. The sophisticated design of the hotel, with chic decor and modern touches, provides an ideal backdrop for a memorable stay. The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive, always eager to offer helpful recommendations and assistance, making guests feel genuinely valued. The hotel's prime location serves as the perfect base for exploring Lisbon, with many of the city’s top attractions, dining spots, and shopping areas just a short walk away. Thoughtful details, like the delightful Portuguese custard tart waiting in the room, add a touch of local charm. The rooms are impeccably clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Breakfast at the sister hotel is a highlight, featuring a delicious and varied spread that makes for a perfect start to the day.

While Browns Downtown in Lisbon impressed with its stylish design and friendly service, there were a few drawbacks during our stay. The hotel felt somewhat unfinished, as parts of the reception area were under renovation, with dust sheets covering sections and no toilet facilities available in reception. This gave the arrival experience a slightly incomplete feel. Although the short walk to the sister hotel for breakfast wasn’t a major inconvenience, it was still an unusual arrangement that may not suit every guest. Additionally, our room, which lacked an external view, felt a bit claustrophobic, making it difficult to gauge the weather outside. If I were to visit again, I would definitely opt for an exterior-facing room to avoid this issue and enjoy a more spacious, open atmosphere.

Location was great for the old town and restaurants. Room was well equipped. Staff were great.

It would be nice to have a bar but the other Brown’s hotel was close. Proper milk for tea .

The location is excellent - its in the middle of the city center and well connected. The staff was very friendly and helpful and was always ready to answer our questions and concerns. The room was very clean and comfortable - the bed was super comfortable and the AC was very good for those hot summer nights. They had a small little gift for us at the beginning of our stay which was very sweet.

Unfortunately there were constructions happening at the building opposite of the hotel that starts at 7 am which was a bit annoying and you can hear others in the hallway. Everything else was excellent, we really enjoyed our stay there.

The charming style of the decor, the central location (the metro is across the street and all the most beautiful places are minutes away), the super kind staff, the nespresso machine in the room, the lounge available to work. They welcome you with an aperitivo and two pasteis de nata. It was truly a fabulous stay!

The only thing was the lack of a breakfast facility inside the hotel. I had to go out early in the morning or buy something the night before. Since I was there for work, I didn’t have much time in the morning to also go out somewhere else for breakfast, it was a bit uncomfortable—also expensive (18 euros) if you have breakfast at the browns central as they suggest.

The location could not have been better. Its few 100 meters away from the Tagus river bank. bustling area with lot of food & shopping options. Praça do Comércio - is right there. venture out once to see what's around. you wont be disappointed. The team went above and beyond - to keep the complimentary coffee bar stacked with Pastie de nata - they also kept a lovely Portugese red wine bottle for me to enjoy. Their attention to details is quite commendable. Often while staying in hotels we get overly dependent on the room TV which mostly disappoints. But here they kept a Marshall speaker. talk about thoughtfulness. Room & bath was tight but for a solo traveller it had everything and more what I needed. if you want things easily reachable - and do not want a quiet place - do give this a try.

The 2 days i was there, the front desk team kept rotating very often. most of them were very polite except for the person who was on duty when i was leaving. he was a bit too full of himself. did not even bother to lend me a hand with the luggages even when he saw a lady travelling alone. can ignore this part - rest everything else is great.

I had such a great stay at Brown’s Hotel in downtown Lisbon. The lobby is stunning – elegant without feeling stuffy – and it instantly makes you feel like you’ve picked the right place. The real highlight, though, was the staff. Everyone was warm, professional, and genuinely attentive to what guests need. Bruno, in particular, was very helpful – he managed all my last-minute extensions so smoothly at the best available rate and made sure everything worked out in the most convenient way possible. It’s rare to find a hotel that’s both beautiful and run by people who clearly care. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Lisbon.

Nothing to complain about

Brilliant location. Friendly English speaking staff. Clean sheets every day! We had booked a small double, so our expectations weren't high. But it provided everything you could possibly need. Lovely big bed. Very quiet. Great toiletries. Fridge with complimentary water and wine. Iron and board, hairdryer. Coffee machine. Great TV. Safe. Staffed 24/7. 2 sister hotels along the same street where you could get breakfast/dinner and free welcome cocktail. Would highly recommend.

Nothing, we knew it was a room only hotel when we booked. It was very compact, but we had booked a small double. The facilities were excellent.

Nice comfortable room. Beautiful hotel. Excellent breakfast. Other Browns Boutique also wonderful drinks and food.

Staff was nice and polite, but not very competent. We had questions about train and they gave poor/wrong advice. We needed EU$ during power outage so we could eat, and nobody on staff could accommodate us 😢 to exchange a small amount of USD$ for EU$. The power was out for 12+ hours leading into evening/night and they had no emergency lighting to find your way through dark hallways/stairs or to see to unlock room door. They SHOULD have had battery operated lights or flashlights 🔦 for guest use. They were VERY UNPREPARED for any unusual circumstances.

The hotel had such a lovely vibe - luxurious but welcoming. A perfect location right in the heart of Lisbon! Staff were friendly and accomodating. Really enjoyed my stay and would recommend any friends going to Lisbon to stay here and would love to come back for another stay in the future!

The only negative was a slight smell in the bathroom. When I checked out I let the staff member know and she said as buildings in Lisbon are old the plumbing is also old so this can be an issue. They have something they can put in the pipes to mask the smell so would recommend asking if you have this issue. Overall it didn’t impact my stay, still a great place to be.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is perfect for a city break, with everything within easy reach. It’s excellent value for money, and we’re pleasantly surprised by the little extra touches in the room that made it feel more special. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, & happy to help with tips on what to see and do in the area.

The only negative was that the room didn’t have a view, but we knew that at the time of booking as we chose the cheapest option, so it wasn’t an issue.
