I absolutely adored my stay. I was very nervous as it was my first time staying on my own for a day as my son wasn't coming in until late that night. All the staff were amazing 👏 but I cannot praise Andre enough. He went above and beyond to make me feel safe and secure and this is so important for any women. He is a huge asset to the hotel..I certainly will be telling my friends and colleagues about my fantastic experience at the hotel..It was my first time travelling to Portugal but certainly not my last. I look forward to many stays at The Don Jose Beach Hotel. ⛱️ I also met some fabulous people from Canada, England, Scotland and Ireland. They all had the same positive and happy experience..

I would have loved a softer pillow

Super hotel in best location possible in this stretch along prom , went end of February now April 2nd and I’m already back but for a longer stay , I am very fussy /not easy to please (my wife says this not me ) but this is right up there with best I’ve stayed in over 25 years of coming to algarve a couple of times a year . Sea view room I would say is definitely worth paying the extra for though because of its location ie a stones through from beach (see pictures attached )

Too much good food (went home nearly a stone heavier in a week )

As it was a special occasion management upgraded our room for free and went above and beyond to make it special. It was a birthday and they had several affordable birthday packages. The manager who welcomed us was lovely and attentive. The hotel itself is quite modern and in a great location to base yourself for exploring the Algarve. Right by the beach with some cute sea view restaurants nearby. Breakfast was varied and consistently good quality. Some more vegan options would have been good for my husband but other than that food was always fresh and service was good. Dinner was excellent each time! Different mains every night. Again the mains could have been more vegan friendly but as a meat eater this was fine for me. Service especially from the manager at reception and Andre in the restaurant was amazing. The bar and lounge area definitely gave the hotel a more luxury feel than would have been expected for such a reasonable price.

Gym was shut all week and I had booked this hotel with the goal of keeping up with workouts. I do feel this should have been made clear either during booking or at least prior to my arrival. Spa facilities were also not available and this wasn’t made clear to me. These are the only negatives but does not take away from how great the stay was.

Breakfast was lovely. A great mix of hot and cold foods. Fresh fruit, yoghurts and pastries. The hot food was sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, beans, and some pancakes. The room was well appointed with a lovely sea view, but the bed was uncomfortably hard for us. We requested a softer mattress if possible, but this wasn't provided. We did ask at reception, but nothing was done. The location is superb. Quarteira is a beautiful little town on the waterfront and the Dom Jose backs on to the beach. Lovely.

The beds. They're rock-hard and we both woke up with sore ribs most days and had broken sleeps. We then ended up napping at the pool or the beach in the day time. We did ask for softer mattresses prior to booking and again once we'd arrived, but they never managed to provide any, which is a huge shame.

Very good location on beachfront & boardwalk. Tasteful refurbishment of hotel rooms, lounge & restaurant enhances beachy vacation ambiance. Private pool. Central location with many local bars, mini markets & restaurants nearby all within easy walking distance. Fabulous breakfast and dinner buffet available to purchase. Snacks also available in lounge and patio bar. Excellent musical entertainment in lounge on Tuesday & Saturday nights. Excellent friendly and helpful staff with a special acknowledgement for Nelio and his extra care in looking after us in the lounge & patio areas.

Parking is a little challenging but is possible by driving around in the local area when not available at hotel.

Breakfast was very good. The room was not very comfortable, and the hotel was generally old. It was apparent that they tried to make it suitable for guests, but it wasn't perfect. To be fair, my opinion is influenced by my previous stays in mostly 4- and 5-star hotels, while this one is a 3-star hotel. This means the same level of quality should not be expected. Nevertheless, the staff were very welcoming, especially those at the restaurant. Our room did not have slippers, so you need to bring your own. Unfortunately, the gym was not accessible, and the pool was small and, of course, too cold to use in December.

Facilities.

the convenience and ambiance can't be matched in te same location

The reception staff were cold & unfriendly especially when the water was turned off - this hotel area (front of house) needs to be addressed. Other guests also commented - we thought the service was more like a doctor's surgery than a hotel. In times of difficulty e.g when the guest's rooms have no water staff should be kind and reassuring not aloof and dismissive, this is the reason for the low score on staff above - in fact the staff in all the other areas of the hotel were amazing,

The checkin was smooth, we had some struggle to find the entrance ( apple maps does not identify it) where luggages could be unloaded at arrival, parking was fine, just you need to be patient and turn one circle around the hotel. Night promenade vibe was fantastic, take your time! Room, beds and utensils were perfect.

You should inform your guests at arrival of your full services, because we were happy to know that there is a breakfast pack option from earlier reviews omly. We also had a wierd Experience when my 16 yr old daughter was in the room alone during daytime and an unknown person was able to open the door to the room. The guy (was a guest and mixed his roomno) left after a short discussion but we still could not figure out how he could get in, it was on our last day so we did not bother the reception. I kmow we should have. At checkout we were not provided automatically by the detailed list of extra amount to pay (like bar drinks), just an amount. It would be more professional to provide it along with the checkout procedure.

Cleanliness, beach front location, outside bar/covered area that was also a good snack bar, breakfast and lovely staff. Sometimes it took a little longer to get a drink, but staff were always very pleasant Modern but small bedroom. View from sea view balcony. Guests mixture of nationalities, which is refreshing. I certainly don’t understand the hotel star* rating system Dom Jose is a gem, we shall return

No faults at all with the property, suited us well as we love the beach. Lovely pool but a very small area around. We thought that area of Quarteira could do with a couple more better varied restaurants apart from Italian, but this is only our opinion.

The hotel is right next to the beach . Breakfast and dinner were amazing...fresh fish, salad, detox juices, freshly baked cookies and so much more. The staff were equally as great super friendly

Nothing to do with the hotel..but the bars surrounding the hotel were pretty lame...head to the marina for more choice and fun!
