Amazing location very close to the railway station (the reason we chose it, early train to the airport), but shielded from it by the amazing cathedral. Although we arrived early we couldn't access our room till the 3pm deadline (as expected, though we always live in hope!), but they looked after our luggage whilst we explored the city. The staff were very helpful, putting the sauna on for us with only 40 minutes of its opening time left and showing us how to access it without using the lift - my wife is claustrophobic - which wasn't a clear option. Super comfortable room, not huge but we were only staying one night. Didn't have breakfast as we were leaving early and it seemed pricey.

The location was incredible for the main reason of my visit to Cologne which was to attend concerts - the hotel is right next to the Kölner Philharmonie. The hotel itself was one of the best hotels I stayed at: well-designed, giving out a pleasant vibe, with Nespresso machine and fridge (important when frequently visiting the nearby Cafe Reichard). I was also given a kettle which was very helpful. The staff was beyond helpful: when I needed ironing equipment quite late I was able to get it, I left my luggage after check out to explore Cologne further without heavy bags. I was also able to check in early, had a captivating view of the cathedral from my room which is also very close to the hotel and was given a chocolate upon checking out which further sweetened the already wonderful, restful stay, allowing to re-charge ones batteries. I will definitely be coming back to this hotel with a smile.

Mondial in Cologne is not only in a perfect location with modern, comfortable rooms — it’s the amazing team that really makes the difference. From check-in to check-out, everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can truly feel that they care about their guests. I had forgotten my passport in the safe, and they handled everything quickly, calmly, and with such kindness. This kind of service is rare — and it’s what will definitely bring me back. I was very disappointed in the quality of the meal I had in the restaurant one evening. I wanted something light so I ordered the beetroot and spinach gnocchi. It was almost inedible it was so salty- I ate the spinach but left most of the dish. When I said something to the waiter I was told that the kitchen had closed for the evening. There was no offer of a partial refund or another dish. I mentioned it to the front of house staff also and nothing was done. I would have expected some sort of acknowledgment and a resolution to this issue.

This is a huge hotel. I think they upgraded me to a business room with a desk. The bed was firm with springs, good for the back. They were able to find a wonderful bathtub for me. Most rooms only have a shower. My room was on an interior courtyard, so it was quiet, as I requested. It is located right across from the Philharmonic and the Museum Ludwig. It is a short walk to the central railway station, but Google maps will not direct you there. It is possible to avoid going up any steps to the Cathedral and get to the hotel with a wheelie bag.

I am not a fan of a night light going on automatically when you get up to go to the bathroom, but that's a minor quibble. I think the hotel should send out directions so you don't go the long way round using Google maps.

we have stayed at the hotel several times as it is perfect when traveling to and from the UK by the Eurostar. It is always clean and pleasant when we visit, the area is busy with lots of restaurants and cafe's to eat and have a drink at. We also visited the Ludwig Art Museum which is brilliant and the hotel faces the side of the beautiful Cologne Cathedral.

We are older travellers and do not eat a huge amount - the one price for breakfast has put us off eating there as it could not be value for money for us as we would probably share the quantity offered in one breakfast.

The hotel is just 2 minutes' walk from the station, very close to the cathedral and bars, cafes and restaurants and yet is very quiet and leafy. The staff were exceptional - helpful, friendly and smiling! The room was cool despite the intense heat outside, and the bed was extremely comfortable. There was a kettle and refreshments in the room, the towels were large and soft and everything was spotlessly clean. We really could not fault it! We only stayed one night but will definitely return.

We were travelling across Europe and this was our best experience so far. The location, the service, the cleanliness and everything else was beyond our expectations. The bedding, mattresses and linen were so comfortable and the amenities in the room and bathroom were quite good and of high quality. So much recommended! We will definitely be back. The only moment I can mention is that booking directly with them can be way expensive, than booking online

Perfect location next to the cathedral, across the street from the Museum Ludwig, and 6 minute walk from the train station. Steam room and sauna. There were two free glass water bottles that required an opener (but there was no opener in the room).

There were no towel hooks in the bathroom in the standard queen/king room. That would be so simple to remedy. Also, the sliding bathroom door would not stay closed in room 142. €62 for two person buffet breakfast.

The standard double bedroom was compact but very comfortable and well designed. The bed was very good and we slept well. Good shower room and well thought out space. The location in the city is superb, close to station, cathedral, old town, Museum Ludwig which were all on our list to visit.

We actually went for a breakfast free stay. The breakfast would have cost us 30 euros which seemed expensive. We did not have it so I cannot comment on the quality. Very good breakfasts can be had nearby at the Museum Ludwig restaurant and Cafe Reichard at about half the price.
