Hotel was a great location, only a few minutes from the airport. Plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Swimming pool on the roof was a bonus although you need to get there early for a sunbed! Roof top bar was also lovely to watch the sun set. Buffet breakfast had plenty of selection. The hotel even provided takeaway cups if you wanted to take your coffee with you!

No fault of the hotel but we had a room looking out onto one of the side streets. Heraklion was busy and it was very noisy through the night!

The location is perfect! The service and personell were friendly and helpfull . Great food! Loved the possibility for booking massage in the room. Very good experience.

The gym were poorely equiped. The rooms are not sound isolated. There were noise from the halleay and the room upstairs. I lost a dress from the balcony because there are no place to dry the clothes. Unfortunately the staff had no access to the roof my dress fell down on., and I had to leave without my dress. This could have been avoided if there were somewhere on the balcony to dry off the clothes.

We had a wonderful stay at the Astoria Capsis Hotel in Heraklion. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. They even surprised us with a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which had just been newly renovated—an unexpected touch that made our stay even more memorable. The hotel’s location is perfect—right in the city centre—making it easy to explore Heraklion on foot and access everything we needed during our trip. One of the highlights for us was how pet-friendly the hotel is. Our furry family member was not only welcomed but even received special amenities from the staff, which we really appreciated. The overall warmth and hospitality of the team left a lasting impression on us. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the breakfast selection. It would be lovely to see more traditional Cretan options included. Overall, our experience was truly enjoyable, and we’d definitely recommend the hotel—especially for anyone traveling with pets or looking for a warm, personalized stay in the heart of Heraklion.

The rooms were newly renovated, the balcony gave sunset views and the beds were comfortable. The rooftop pool is the reason I chose this hotel and it did not disappoint. There’s plenty of room up there so you don’t have to hurry to get a lounge chair and it’s peaceful and quiet despite being dead center in the city. The breakfast was also wonderful and the staff were friendly! I loved my stay here as a solo traveler and can’t wait to come back.

The gym is tiny and in the basement. Not the type of place you want to workout.

Wonderful staff, very friendly and helpful with any request. Spotlessly clean room, apparently recently fully refurbished. Excellent shower. Fast and reliable wifi both in room and public areas. Location, right in the centre of the city and adjacent to the famous Archaeological Museum, just can't be beat.

Very small room. Narrow beds (but probably couldn't fit anything wider due to room size) and pillows not very substantial. Soundproofing could be better. Balcony was absolutely tiny - could only sit sideways.

Location is fantastic, bus stops right outside or opposite the hotel. The centre is just around the corner for shopping and restaurants. Sunrise from the front facing rooms are beautiful. Rooftop area is fantastic giving a more relaxed dimension to the hotel. Breakfast is excellent. A large airy room looking out over the square with plenty of seating. Everything offered from Greek to international, fresh fruit buffet and cooked breakfast. Hotel is very clean and the room service done daily. Reception staff smiley and friendly and welcoming. If we come back, we will definitely rebook here.

Nothing - it was perfect

The room was spacious. Bathroom was also large and the room I stayed in had a shower over the bath. The roof top pool was a bonus and there were loads of sunbeds with a bar. The hotel is located at the top of the old town walking street, across the street from the taxi rank. The airport bus drops off at the door as does the local bus to Knossos and the hop off bus. There is paid parking if you have a car. There is a great breakfast room with a good breakfast as well as a Cafe with opens to the street at the rear where you can get a coffee/drink or a meal.

There we no grab rails in the bath/shower. To get into the bath/shower was a very large step up. Might not be a room suited to guests with mobility issues. Balcony was long a very narrow and the room we had did not have a view (it looked onto the apartments opposite). You can walk to the Venetian Harbour and there are lots of great shops and restaurants in the old town streets.

We had a really enjoyable stay! The receptionist was friendly and efficient. The room was really clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The location is really convenient as it is within walking distance from the ferry port, and it is also right across the street from the archeological museum (a must-see!). There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel, which makes it very convenient to visit the Knossos Palace. We were very happy with this choice and would absolutely stay here again!

The Internet in our room was a little bit weak, but it wasn't a big deal.

We loved staying at Capsis Astoria the first time we came to Crete 2 years ago. This time really blew us away. They remodeled the hotel and the rooms are beautiful. The staff is so accommodating. The rooftop pool and bar is a great place to hang out day or night. You are a very short walk to the town square where you will find many restaurants and shops. The Hotel breakfast is a buffet with plenty of great choices.
