We had a wonderful stay at the Astoria Capsis Hotel in Heraklion. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. They even surprised us with a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which had just been newly renovated—an unexpected touch that made our stay even more memorable. The hotel’s location is perfect—right in the city centre—making it easy to explore Heraklion on foot and access everything we needed during our trip. One of the highlights for us was how pet-friendly the hotel is. Our furry family member was not only welcomed but even received special amenities from the staff, which we really appreciated. The overall warmth and hospitality of the team left a lasting impression on us. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the breakfast selection. It would be lovely to see more traditional Cretan options included. Overall, our experience was truly enjoyable, and we’d definitely recommend the hotel—especially for anyone traveling with pets or looking for a warm, personalized stay in the heart of Heraklion.

Wonderful staff, very friendly and helpful with any request. Spotlessly clean room, apparently recently fully refurbished. Excellent shower. Fast and reliable wifi both in room and public areas. Location, right in the centre of the city and adjacent to the famous Archaeological Museum, just can't be beat.

Very small room. Narrow beds (but probably couldn't fit anything wider due to room size) and pillows not very substantial. Soundproofing could be better. Balcony was absolutely tiny - could only sit sideways.

Location is fantastic, bus stops right outside or opposite the hotel. The centre is just around the corner for shopping and restaurants. Sunrise from the front facing rooms are beautiful. Rooftop area is fantastic giving a more relaxed dimension to the hotel. Breakfast is excellent. A large airy room looking out over the square with plenty of seating. Everything offered from Greek to international, fresh fruit buffet and cooked breakfast. Hotel is very clean and the room service done daily. Reception staff smiley and friendly and welcoming. If we come back, we will definitely rebook here.

Nothing - it was perfect

The room was spacious. Bathroom was also large and the room I stayed in had a shower over the bath. The roof top pool was a bonus and there were loads of sunbeds with a bar. The hotel is located at the top of the old town walking street, across the street from the taxi rank. The airport bus drops off at the door as does the local bus to Knossos and the hop off bus. There is paid parking if you have a car. There is a great breakfast room with a good breakfast as well as a Cafe with opens to the street at the rear where you can get a coffee/drink or a meal.

There we no grab rails in the bath/shower. To get into the bath/shower was a very large step up. Might not be a room suited to guests with mobility issues. Balcony was long a very narrow and the room we had did not have a view (it looked onto the apartments opposite). You can walk to the Venetian Harbour and there are lots of great shops and restaurants in the old town streets.

We had a really enjoyable stay! The receptionist was friendly and efficient. The room was really clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The location is really convenient as it is within walking distance from the ferry port, and it is also right across the street from the archeological museum (a must-see!). There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel, which makes it very convenient to visit the Knossos Palace. We were very happy with this choice and would absolutely stay here again!

The Internet in our room was a little bit weak, but it wasn't a big deal.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. It has easy access to transport and all the lovely shopping streets and restaurants. There is a super rooftop swimming pool area which has 360 degree view of the city. It has a bar and food service this area which was good. Swimming towels were provided for the pool loungers.

The bathroom could hardly fit one person. In our room the shower in the small bath was old fashioned and difficult for elderly people to get into and out. It was well appointed with handwash and shower gel.

Lovely, friendly welcome when we arrived, even though it was later in the evening. Nice, clean room even if a bit on the cosy side for a family. However the rooftop pool and bar more than made up for that. Fantastic facilities. And the included breakfast buffet was so convenient, we were able to get up, eat and be on our way very efficiently in the mornings. Location is great, right near the museum and the bus line.

Rooms are small and tight but very clean and comfortable for a short stay.

- Location is excellent, at the very heart of the downtown, all important bus lines (e.g. airport, Knosos, Ammoudara beach) are in the immediate vicinity of the hotel - breakfast great, various food was served (everyone could find something: meat lovers, vegies, children, lots of fruits...) although the menu could be expanded and repeated weekly - room was quite OK, just as expected, it was great value for the money - hotel staff: excellent, professional, always at service, willing to help for any questions

Traffic noise around the hotel at nights. However, this is the question for the City government, not for the Hotel.

I appreciate the professionalism and awesome, friendly and helpful behavior of a receptionist named Mr. Antonis. Mr. Antonis always did his best to accomodate our needs and he is one of the best staff members we have ever met, and we travel a lot. We are grateful for the effort the hotel made to ensure the guests feel welcome - for example the beautiful piano music played live in the lobby.

Good size room with great air condition, and comfertable balcony. Great pool but on roof.

Small bath tub should be replaced with shower. Would be more usable. Tile floor in room decrease sound isolation. Carpets do buffer sounds from stores above. Furniture should be adjusted to new floor (chair makes significant noise when moved, bed makes noise when turn in it). Trand is good from cleaness point of view, but not from user comfort part.
