The proprietors were very kind and friendly. The room was cool and very spacious and comfortable. I loved the desk chair. (Where can I get one of those for my house?!) The building was very elegant and charming. I would have happily stayed there for much longer than my one night.

It was pretty loud sometimes. The four guys who were staying next to me were very boisterous (both in their room and out in the courtyard) and their bathroom fan made for some weird white noise in my room. I just wonder if there might be some more soundproofing to be done for times like those.

The family who run the hotel are just lovely people who go above and beyond for their guests, and the property itself is a wonderfully maintained old-world home. Our suite was spacious and very cozy, with great climate control. The location is fantastic, with wonderful museums, eateries, and shops within easy walking distance. Great little balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard garden. Amazing to have two full bathrooms in a suite, quite a luxury! It was such a perfect home base in Iraklio. Absolutely would stay there again.

The tiniest thing I wish the suite had was more of a place to sit comfortably rather than on the beds but that's such a minor thing. Really nothing negative about the place at all.

My husband and I were looking for a "historic" feeling, boutique hotel. Porta Medina is a stunning old home converted to a lovely place in the center of the historic district. We had a balcony for morning coffee (a perfect cafe was steps away), and the courtyard was a beautiful place to eat our lunch and enjoy the shade during the hot summer weather. The owners and staff provided a welcoming and professional atmosphere and were very eager to share the history of the building when asked. The room was spacious and the bathroom was very modern and clean. Would stay again!

I had an exceptional experience at this hotel! The room was absolutely amazing – spacious and very comfortable. It had everything I needed for a perfect stay. The staff were outstanding, always friendly and attentive, making sure that every detail was taken care of. Their professionalism and warm hospitality made me feel truly welcome. The location is also ideal, with easy access to the downtown. Highly recommend!

The hotel is in a great location, right in the centre of everything. The hosts were super friendly and helpful and the room was very beautiful, well appointed and with the most comfortable bed I have slept in in ages

I was there over a weekend and some might find the noise from local bars a bit much. It didn't bother me. It was nice to see how lively the town is

The building itself has witnessed so much history, and the interior design beautifully reflects this. The fusion of Venetian and Ottoman styles in the furnishings creates an interesting ambiance. The common areas were truly a sight to behold. The intricate flooring and exquisite furniture transported me to another time. It's evident that a lot of thought and care has gone into maintaining the charm of the space. The blend of culture, history, and comfort makes it a gem in the heart of Iraklion.

I believe that my room, which accommodated four people, should be better designed. One part of the room was spacious, bright, and had a window and a balcony, while the second area of the same room was completely dark and small.

Absolutely in love with this place. We stayed just until the midnight as we had to leave to the airport, but we had the best evening here! The place is so beautiful and authentic. The room is lovely, with a comfy bed, AC, TV, coffee machine, fridge, water, etc. The man at the reception was so friendly and welcoming, he also booked us a taxi so we didn’t have to worry about it. Also the location is perfect, right in the center. I would love to come back here!

A fantastic place to stay. A warm welcome from Thomas and Maria. This is a family business run by the grand children of original owners. Rooms are spacious and well equipped and historically and sensitively! We loved the outdoor space and enjoyed our coffee and wine in the courtyard. Bed was most comfortable and all good.

Not a thing!

This property was beautiful and the staff were super friendly. The rooms had a vintage feel that my friends and I absolutely loved. The stained glass windows and the balcony were gorgeous. Also within walking distance from multiple shops, restaurants, and the Archaeological Museum.

In the old town so easy to walk to the port...the old port and through town. I only stayed one night but the hosts are super friendly and helpful. My room was spacious with a comfy bed and verandah and ensuite. Lovely stay in an old hotel that has been tastefully renovated.
