The proprietors were very kind and friendly. The room was cool and very spacious and comfortable. I loved the desk chair. (Where can I get one of those for my house?!) The building was very elegant and charming. I would have happily stayed there for much longer than my one night.

It was pretty loud sometimes. The four guys who were staying next to me were very boisterous (both in their room and out in the courtyard) and their bathroom fan made for some weird white noise in my room. I just wonder if there might be some more soundproofing to be done for times like those.

Beautiful old Heraklion house converted into a hotel, in a very convenient location. Thomas and Maria were very welcoming, responsive and helpful. The restaurant they recommended was exceptional, and we really appreciated how Maria got our bus tickets printed at short notice. Our room had a nice balcony overlooking a lush garden where we could relax after a day exploring the city and local sights.

Most of Heraklion port area is subject to airport noise, but this stops at night. There seems to be a local fashion of riding motorcycles with really loud music blaring. Thankfully, this also stops at night.

Maria and Thomas are wonderful, kind people. They were so helpful with how to check-in, find breakfast places very close by to eat early and I even got a dancing lesson for the Hasapiko before having to leave the hotel. Despite concerns that being in the city near bars and night spots it could get loud, we had no problems falling asleep and found our room to be quiet. The hotel has beautiful woodwork, an original hamam, and is also decorated with the paintings of Maria's talented brother. This is a wonderful place, run by wonderful owners. You are in good hands and will enjoy your stay in Heraklion here.

The family who run the hotel are just lovely people who go above and beyond for their guests, and the property itself is a wonderfully maintained old-world home. Our suite was spacious and very cozy, with great climate control. The location is fantastic, with wonderful museums, eateries, and shops within easy walking distance. Great little balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard garden. Amazing to have two full bathrooms in a suite, quite a luxury! It was such a perfect home base in Iraklio. Absolutely would stay there again.

The tiniest thing I wish the suite had was more of a place to sit comfortably rather than on the beds but that's such a minor thing. Really nothing negative about the place at all.

My husband and I were looking for a "historic" feeling, boutique hotel. Porta Medina is a stunning old home converted to a lovely place in the center of the historic district. We had a balcony for morning coffee (a perfect cafe was steps away), and the courtyard was a beautiful place to eat our lunch and enjoy the shade during the hot summer weather. The owners and staff provided a welcoming and professional atmosphere and were very eager to share the history of the building when asked. The room was spacious and the bathroom was very modern and clean. Would stay again!

For our purposes, Porta Medina provided exactly what we needed!

What a lovely spot, tucked away on a side street in Heraklion! Thomas warmly welcomed us as we entered the courtyard then showed us to our lovely room. Done to perfection! Clean, comfortable, cool. We loved Thomas’ art on the walls and im our room. Maria scheduled a taxi for us in the morning. I didn’t catch her name, but the cleaning woman was a lifesaver in calling Maria to help us. It was one of the best places I’ve ever stayed!

I had an exceptional experience at this hotel! The room was absolutely amazing – spacious and very comfortable. It had everything I needed for a perfect stay. The staff were outstanding, always friendly and attentive, making sure that every detail was taken care of. Their professionalism and warm hospitality made me feel truly welcome. The location is also ideal, with easy access to the downtown. Highly recommend!

The hotel is in a great location, right in the centre of everything. The hosts were super friendly and helpful and the room was very beautiful, well appointed and with the most comfortable bed I have slept in in ages

I was there over a weekend and some might find the noise from local bars a bit much. It didn't bother me. It was nice to see how lively the town is

The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, ensuring that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable. What truly sets this hotel apart is its rich history and unique decor. The building itself has witnessed so much history, and the interior design beautifully reflects this. The fusion of Venetian and Ottoman styles in the furnishings creates an interesting ambiance. The common areas were truly a sight to behold. The intricate flooring and exquisite furniture transported me to another time. It's evident that a lot of thought and care has gone into maintaining the charm of the space. The blend of culture, history, and comfort makes it a gem in the heart of Iraklion.

I believe that my room, which accommodated four people, should be better designed. One part of the room was spacious, bright, and had a window and a balcony, while the second area of the same room was completely dark and small.

Everything was perfect, the room is spacious and very well equipped, air conditioning, coffee and tea machine, extremely comfortable bedding. The location is perfect , 2 minutes walk from the city center, 10 minutes walk from the port for ferries, 5 minutes walk from the bus stop to the airport. The kindness of the hosts remains the highlight of our stay.
