Hotel Bologna is in a fairly quiet neighbourhood on the south bank and a few minutes walk to the Arno river. It is situated at a convenient distance from the main shopping street, supermarkets and Pisa Centrale railway station where you arrive with the PISAMOVER in less than 10 minutes from the airport. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is about 15-20 minutes on foot. The bedroom and ensuite bathroom on the 2nd floor at the back of the hotel is generously sized and the single bed is more than a single bed. A balcony in the bedroom faced a part car park/part garden. There is a mini fridge which has free bottles of water and topped up daily when you take them out for the day. The breakfast buffet is really varied and has a lot of sweet and savoury options. A very healthy highlight is a trolley with sliced/cubed fruits. I found every hotel staff member I met from check-in to check out and each morning and evening to be friendly and polite. I would highly recommend a stay here.

The temperature in the bedroom was a little uncomfortable (too warm) on arrival but this was adjusted by opening the balcony door and allowing air to circulate. There is a step up between the bedroom and the ensuite which means the room is not fully wheelchair accessible. Beware when going to the toilet at night. The breakfast room felt a bit crowded at peak time (09hrs-10hrs) so if you want to avoid queues at the coffee machine and at other self-serving areas eat early or wait later.

Being tall people and husband very muscly, we found the room around the toilets are was very restricted.

Friendly and welcoming, nice restaurant and bar , great for a relaxing meal without having to go out . We stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of our weeks holiday, and one night at the end. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Shower room on the first visit was great, newly refurbished and able to have a night relaxing shower. Only complaint is- Return visit bathroom wasn’t so good (different room) outdated bath with a shower tap ( like we had in our first home in the 1970s! )No shower curtain and couldn’t get enough water into the bath. If we’d had this bathroom in the first night we probably wouldn’t have returned.

The athmosphere of the hotel was good, the public places suited well with ambiance of the ancient town of Pisa. The location of the hote was good. It was not far from the railwaystation by foot and the town, and by taxi to the airport. The room was nicely decorated, the bathroom was well equipped, there even was a little shelf to put the things necessary in the bathroom, there were enough things to hang the towels, the shower worked well and the outlook was pleasent. The personnel was very amicable and professional. Although I had to leave very early, at 5.30 h, I got a bag of well equipped breakfast which I hadn't even ordered.

Excellent hot and cold, sweet and savoury selection at breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location - walkable (15mins) from railway station & Pisamover airport shuttle. 20 minutes walk to Pisa Tower. Some local restaurants, many more situated in central streets. Hotel bus service to airport or station available.

Corner shower cubicle a bit small in bathroom, otherwise well fitted out with hooks and shelves, etc. Room simple but clean and spacious with minibar and kettle. Quite a lot of night time noise within the hotel on uncarpeted floors.

All as expected. It’s an older style hotel with a lovely feel. Our room had a double/single bed. Spacious & comfortable. Mini bar contained free water. No milk/creamer with the kettle tray but we picked up jugs of milk from reception. Spare pillows in the room/plenty of hangers/safe/bathroom toiletries/slippers/good shower. The room was very warm. No idea how they’re heating it. Parts of the walls were hot to touch. Shutters on the window which we didn’t bother opening - no idea of the view, if any. Breakfast was held over a good period of time to suit all and was varied & tasty. We also had food in the bar as we arrived quite late and the chicken/beef burgers were good. The hotel is situated on a road adjacent to the main shopping street and close to the river bridges to walk over to the tower. Took us about 15-20 minutes strolling, stopping for photos, etc. We used their shuttle to return to the airport (€15) -v- walking to the station (not too far really) and spending €13 on the Pisa Mover from there. We paid €14 for a taxi from the airport upon arrival. Each of the reception staff we met with were friendly & helpful.

We were happy with our choice.

A 4 night stay as a base hotel for visiting Pisa, Florence and Lucca. Great location for access to Pisa Centrale station /Pisa Mover- about 40 mins door to door including walk to station and use of the Pisa mover ( 2 stops) to get to airport check in. Spacious room ( upgraded from a single to double). Very clean and great breakfast selection. Kettle in room and use of mini bar space very welcome for hot drinks etc. Situated on a peaceful 1 way traffic road. Supermarket around 5 minutes walk away.

Breakfast area very congested around peak time 8-9am so there may not be a table. Adjust your times accordingly. Some noise early- till late of suitcases being wheeled across wood/stone floors but a minor detail.

The location is really good. The room was cosy and clean and I had a private bathroom. The breakfast had everything that you may want. I also appreciated that they served it until 11 and I could sleep in. The personnel were really kind and let me have a late check-out.

The furniture is a bit old and outdated. The bed was on wheels. The hairdryer barley worked. It took me 30 minutes to dry my hair (medium length). At first I thought they were moving the furniture in the upstairs room, there was so much noise. On further thought, I think the noise came from the doors being closed and opened. But I was ok, I could sleep at night without any inconveniences.

The location was good. The breakfast was basic. My husband asked for a poached egg and was told that there would be an extra charge. This has never happened to us before from all our other previous experiences in hotels.

We went for an evening meal in the hotel on Saturday night the day we arrived. We were exhausted and it was easier to eat in the hotel restaurant. That was a BIG mistake. The soup was very salty in my opinion and my hubby (an ex-army chef for 35 years plus) had ordered a burger. When it came it was inedible- burger black burger on the bottom but looked perfect on top in stale warm bun. Hubby was offered a replacement but politely declined.

Very warm welcome from young gentleman, Daniel, on reception. Couldn't be more helpful, left our luggage as we arrived before check in and he gave us directions and recommendations of best areas to visit for lunch/dinner. As a group of 8 friends, he arranged so that our 4 rooms were all close to each other. Rooms were of a good size, clean and perfect for our 3night stay. Good selection of breakfast choices too. Bar staff friendly too. Hotel is in great location and only 15 minutes walk to train station for easy trips to Florence and Lucca. Also it's only 15 to 20 minutes walk to the Leaning Tower. Shops and restaurants etc all within short walking distance. Would stay at this hotel again.

The coffee at breakfast wasn't to everyone's taste but everything else we enjoyed.
