Absolutely the best boutique, private hotel to stay at near the coliseum in Rome. Small & elegantly appointed, friendly customer service that goes above & beyond expectations. A hidden gem in that area. The owner & staff handle all guests needs personally, including Enzo walking 2 blocks with us to help us find the pizza & gelato shops he recommended as the best locally! Stayed there 22 years ago and again this year and still so lovely and under the same private ownership. The roof top terrace on a starry night with a bottle of wine & view of the coliseum is very memorable. Hope to go back soon.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely exceptional and exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful staff who went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. The location is fantastic—convenient and ideal for exploring the area. The overall decor of the hotel was stylish and thoughtfully designed, creating a modern yet cozy atmosphere. One of the most pleasant surprises was how much nicer the hotel and rooms were in person compared to the photos online; the images truly don’t do it justice. Our room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully maintained. The bathroom was equally clean and well-appointed, offering a luxurious and comfortable experience. The beds were incredibly comfortable—we slept wonderfully every night, which made a big difference in the quality of our stay. Breakfast each morning was a delight, with a wide variety of fresh, delicious options that met all our needs. Everything we could have asked for was provided, and more. Overall, this stay was perfect. Every detail, from the ambiance to the service, contributed to an outstanding experience. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a high-quality, relaxing, and enjoyable.

A lovely boutique hotel in an excellent location in central Rome near the Colosseum. Rooms are well appointed and the continental breakfast is excellent. Roberto is a very kind, friendly and helpful host and went out of his way to make our stay happy and comfortable. Will definitely return when next in Rome.

Liked everything and have suggested to Roberto that Kleenex boxes be placed in the rooms.

We loved the traditional Italian decor. The smell in the lobby was lovely. The rooms were excellent and the most important aspect for us was the hosts, so lovely and hospitable we really felt relaxed. The location is amazing and all the restaurants around were brilliant. Highly recommend. A word of warning for those with mobility issues you would require a ground floor room as there is no lift and lots of stairs.

Hot drinks making facilities in the bedroom would have been desirable.

This is a very special hotel. The interior is truly stunning, tasteful & very beautiful. There is a roof top terrace with an awning, loungers, play area, shower & so many plants & foliage. It’s just very very pretty & special. The local restaurants are excellent & the area is quiet at night & very safe

Hard to think of anything - loads of stairs so you need to be able for that (no lift).

Celio is ideally located near the colosseum and many restaurants. You can walk to the colosseum from the hotel itself. I loved the rooms and the decor, the hotel has several paintings which are a sight to view. I was so intrigued by the paintings on the walls. The rooms are comfortable enough. The staff is just exceptional, they were always super hospitable and helpful with any requests or recommendations I requested. The breakfast was great as well. Highly recommend it if you’re visit the colosseum or other sights for your Rome visit.

The breakfast was great by Italian standards. A boiled egg, cheese, bread roll, strawberries, yoghurt and cornetto with tea, coffee and orange juice. The location is excellent with the metro about a 15 minute walk away and the Colosseum at the end of the street. Great selection of bars and trattoria close by. A safe area. the roof top bar down the road had live music on Saturday night.

Our room was so tiny. We were there for 4 nights and it was a complete pain with 2 peanut a couple of suitcases. The bed was a double ie not a queen and pushed up against the wall. The size of the room is not the same as the photo.

The location near the colosseum was perfect. And by restaurants and the gay bars. I liked the roof deck too although it was about 100 degrees when I was there and being outside was uncomfortable during the day. The shower was good and bed was comfortable. Great AC as well, which was critical during this trip. Breakfast was one boiled egg and some bread/croissant with juice and coffee in the basement.

The property requires you to call and wake someone up when you are coming in after a certain hour. Maybe after midnight. Your key doesn’t give you access. It’s for safety but i felt like it was an imposition to wake someone a number of times.

The location could not be better. You can see the colosseum just at the end of the road, from the hotel, only a few hundred meters away. lOVED the quaint traditional Italian interior. The staff were so helpful and kind. They let us leave our luggage after checkout for a while and even let me use the bathroom in one of the rooms after we had already checked out.

I would have loved a slightly bigger bed as we chose the twin option for me and my mum. But with small rooms there would not have been space for 2 doubles. The shower was a bit small and dated but very clean and good water pressure/ easy to use. It got a little hot in the room over night but nothing too uncomfortable.

When you step out of the hotel you can see the Colosseum two blocks down the street and it is a great location. It was July and the AC worked very nicely. There are no AC controls in the room, but we were quite satisfied with the temperature. The breakfast was quite satisfactory...a boiled egg, various type of bread, butter, and jam, fruit, coffee, and juice. The breakfast is brought to your table, it is not a buffet. The staff is helpful and friendly. We stayed there for 4 nights.

The hotel was perfect for our needs. We didn't plan to spend much time in the hotel on our first trip to Rome. We had the least expensive room and it was no surprise that the queen bed, desk, and nightstands filled it up. The bathroom was about the size of a lower deck cruise ship bathroom. If you plan to spend more time in the hotel, I suggest you upgrade the room/bathroom.
