Hotel Ateneo is a wonderful little hotel. The staff is warm and friendly and very helpful. The hotel is clean and tidy. They had a very nice little breakfast offering, which I find very important when going to Venice, there are not a lot of options for breakfast that are open before 10/11am. Its location is perfect. It's close to a lot of tourist destinations, but not too close. Most importantly, its an easy walk down to the main canal and the water bus system.

We liked everything about this hotel. If I had to give a criticism, I'd say the room was a little small, but that is certainly not unexpected when staying in Venice. The bathroom was a bit crampted, but it definately has all the amenities you'd expect in a higher priced hotel. Overall, I have nothing to complain about here.

The hotel is in great location. Little tucked away in a very quiet area but very close to main square. It felt very safe even at night as streets were well lit. Room was decent size, as far as I could compare other hotels similar price range rooms were smaller or same- I quess in Venice space is limited and small rooms expected really. Decor was very traditional- Murano glass everywhere. We were lucky and had small view of canal from room with condolas passing all day. Breakfast was small but enough- dont expect much hot food (eggs and bacon only). Plenty coffee and cold cuts available, cereal and youghurt, jam, selection of juices. There is a cute little courtyard at front. Fron desk staff speaks good english. Hotel also sends out a very helpful guide how to get there from airport.

Breakfast room is small, please do not sit there and just browse your phone or map, you can do that in foyer or in your room. It got busy towards the end of service (finish at 10) and some people had to wait for a table.

Excellent location just 5 mins walk from St Mark's sqaure and about 8 mins walk from the water bus stop from the airport. Ideal to visit all of Venice. Our room was very quiet. All the staff are excellent, very friendly, nothing was too much bother. A special mention for Sara in the breakfast room, always smiling and ready to provide you with anything you needed. Safe was very useful with enough room for a tablet. Would definitely return

The bathroom was a little dated but functional. It is quite a step into the bathtub if you have any moblity problems. Some larger cups/mugs would be appreciated for morning tea.

The hotel is located on a charming narrow street in the heart of Venice. Before our arrival, we received detailed instructions on how to reach the place. Although the room was not large, it was comfortable and stylishly designed. Both the room and the bathroom were clean. We travelled in winter, and the room was always warm. The breakfast was 10/10, offering a wide selection of items, including cereals, fruits, cakes, toast, scrambled eggs, and more, along with excellent coffee. And, above all, the staff was always nice, friendly and smiling. It was a delightful stay!

The hairdryer in the bathroom should be replaced with a new one. But we had our own with us, so it was not a big problem:)

Breakfasts were brilliant, very well provided for with nice tables in two lovely rooms and the two staff were really nice, made us feel very welcome. The room was great and the place is very comfortable and stylish and relaxed. We loved it!! The bed was comfortable and luxurious. With the shutters closed and the curtains it was totally quiet, even during the thunder and lightning. Best of all, it has a fridge (very important for cold water), useful safe, kettle, lots of plugs. But we loved the whole package, the quaintness of it, the traditional charm, the decorative features such as the chandeliers, headboard, wall fabrics. At the end of the corridor there were glass doors leading out to a balcony overlooking the junction of two canals. By far the best thing was the staff. They were wonderful, lovely people. We will definitely go back to the Ateneo, thanks!!!

Not one thing to improve, please don't change a thing!!

The hotel is nice, well located, and old school. Staff were very nice and accommodating, and extremely helpful on the day we left. The airport taxi could not come up to the hotel’s dock because of high tide. The lady at the reception desk was on top of things, coordinating with her colleagues to get us to a location where the taxi could pick us up. In the end, one gentleman from their staff carried our luggage to the Grand Canal, where the hotel had booked a taxi for us. That was very impressive, and he wouldn’t even accept our tip.

The cleaning staff were loud in the morning. So we couldn’t really sleep in.

the first night at the hotel was unbearable. Tiny room with an unbearable smell of cigarettes - I was about to change hotels and lose the money for the stay I had already paid for. We know that the previous guest was to blame but the hotel should have realized before putting us in the room - they came with anti-odor spray but it didn't help.the next day they changed our room and everything changed - Angela and Artemio were very kind and understood our situation perfectly. They gave us a bigger and better room and most importantly, without the smell of cigarettes.

This delightful hotel is situated very close to St. Mark's square so one would expect bustle and mayhem; however, because it is down a cul-de-sac, there is no significant pedestrian traffic, making it a quiet and serene hideaway. It is effectively air conditioned throughout, has been recently refurbished to a high standard yet has a true Venetian feel and quaintness. We had frequent changes of linen which was welcome as it was very hot during our stay and the housekeeping kept our rooms spotless. It is not cheap accommodation ( where is in Venice ) but represents excellent value for money. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and fresh based on a continental style but with hot bacon and scrambled eggs available also. As for the staff, they were the icing on the cake. What a calm, friendly, efficient, helpful and loveable bunch they were from front desk (24Hr.) to catering and housekeeping. We are very likely to return. A huge, great big "grazie mille a tutti".

We try to be fair in our reviews but can find no fault whatsoever. Bravo!

Beautiful room, 103. Fabric wallpaper, Murano glass chandeliers, antique furniture, VERY comfortable beds, excellent water pressure in shower, excellent breakfast (mmmmmm. Cappuccino). Quiet location away from all noise. Restful sleep. Loved our stay and highly recommend!!!

No elevator so you must carry your luggage (1st floor is actually 2nd floor by American standards).

The location is great, very close to the opera house La Fenice and easy walk to St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. The staff were very nice and helpful with suggestions. Our room was large and had an amazing view of the canals with gondola traffic going by during the day. Very quiet at night.
