We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. We did not expect this from a one star establishment. We received a friendly welcome from Amy in reception and showed to our room. The room and bathroom was large, clean and cool with a lovely view of the garden. The hotel is very close to the Santa Lucia train station which makes it easy when you have large heave suitcases to schlep around. As an added bonus, there was a lovely family owned bar/restaurant, Osteria al Cicheto, right next to the hotel. I can highly recommend this hotel.

I can honestly not think of any negative comments

This hotel has to been one of the best budget options in Venice. I stayed for night, because I was arriving late at Stazione Snata Lucia by train and was leaving early the next morning. I had a wonderful spacious room, which was very clean. The night portier stayed up and waited for me and which is even more important he was present the whole night. This is a big plus for a single woman trvaeller like me and provided me with a feeling of safety. He was very kind as well. I can only recommend this place if oyu are on a budget.

In terms of value-for-price everything was perfect

A quiet, small hotel close to the railway station. Very welcoming staff, clean room with good shower. Very peaceful, located in a side alley with lots of greenery around, backs onto a park. Breakfast is served to you rather than as a buffet style, so a bit more limited but perfectly ok. Location in Cannaregio is excellent for the railway and bus stations and it's only a three minute walk to the Grand Canal for the vaporetto to St. Mark's or out to Murano.

Room is functional and it would have been helpful to have a small fridge as was the case at other hotels we stayed at in Venice.

This hotel is in a surprisingly quiet location, considering that it is less than a 10 minute walk from the railway station. You leave the noise and busyness of the main drag as you turn up the alley that leads to the hotel. The hotel itself is owned and run by a lovely couple, who are helpful and efficient. In terms of comfort, I suppose you could say it is no-frills, but I've stayed in posher, pricier places where less thought has been given to the needs of the modern traveller. For, example, there is a USB port in the room (the only hotel out of 4 in Italy in which I stayed of which this was true.) An excellent breakfast with plenty of choice in a small but delightful area screened from the alley by a leafy hedge.

Nothing. I suppose the dining areas, in and out, might feel a bit cramped in high season.

Excellent location close to the train/bus station. The room is huge, cleaned every day and your towels are also changed if used. The toilets are shared but very clean and almost free all the time. The staff was super helpful, kind, and always available in the reception. One thing we didn't like was that the heating was common to all the hotel and couldn't be turned off from the room, which was very hot at night. This was not a problem as we could open the windows and have fresh air coming in.

Location was ideal for those arriving by train - five minutes’ walk from the station. The hotel occupies the ground floor of a building, surrounded by a small garden, in a quiet alley leading off a busy street. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, providing a packed breakfast for an early start on our last day. The hotel is comfortable and well-maintained, but not luxurious. The price was not excessive for Venice, especially in the week before Easter, and included a good breakfast.

I was very pleasantly surprised, great value for money. I was looking for something accommodating and not expensive, and it was more than I expected. Great location, close to train station and bus station. Clean room, comfortable beds, towels, soap etc. Hair dryer, water kettle. Staff members were very polite. I stayed in a room with shared bathroom, was clean and always found it free. It was good for me, also there is sink in the room too. Loved that there were blinds on the windows so I could sleep better. I did not have any issues with noise, but I always have wax ear plugs with me for any case. All in all, was impressed, I recommend it and will happily return.

No nonsense Albergo managed in the most genuine 'traditional' way. Room was spacious, cleaned daily, all the staff was wonderfully kind. It was clean, good aircon, good wifi, 24h reception. The breakfast was not included in the booking but we decided to add it to our stay as it was good value (unlike most hotels' rip offs) and the garden provides a lovely setting. The location is great as it's very close to the station but away from crowds. I stayed in many hotels in Venice and at this price point they are all grotty, dated, with tiny rooms. Not this one! For a no frills stay in Venice it ticked all the boxes. I would certainly stay again!

It's difficult to find a cheap place to stay in Venice. And Hotel St Lucia was really great value. The location is really great, only 4 min walk from the station. It's in a busy area, but the hotel is located down a quiet and safe lane. There's a little courtyard area which is really quiet and you can sit outside, etc. The bathroom although shared was always kept really clean. The staff was flexible about my check in time. Staff super friendly and attentive. Venice is a hectic touristy place, but this place was a nice quiet place to retreat to at the end of the day.

The property was fantastic, for a 1* hotel it should be at least 3*. The rooms were clean and beds comfy. The room had everything you would need for a short stay in Venice. The location is great as it's close to the bus station and train station for the airport. Plenty of fine dining restaurants around the area and the gift shops are slightly cheaper here than closer to san Marco. There's even a spar just around the corner should you want to buy snacks and drinks for the room. Yes it's good 30 mins walk to san marco but that's what Venice is all about getting lost in the maze of streets not knowing what's around the corner. The shared bathrooms were spotless and not once did I use them and think they were dirty. When I come back to Venice some day this is the place I will be staying for sure. Not a 24 hr reception wanted to get up before dawn and watch the sunrise over peaceful Venice but doors are locked at a certain time. Maybe you had to ask.
