This is a very nice hotel just off the main busy area around the Rialto bridge it's tucked away in a quiet little square, which for a newcomer to Venice can be a little awkward to find, however I have since discovered that the Santa Marina has a small advantage over other hotels which to a newbee is very beneficial to know, this little plus is at the back of the hotel it has a small canal and it's own pier so you can order your taxi from the airport and it will take you and your luggage to the hotels back door. They will even order you a taxi back for your departure....this service is not cheap but it is very efficient and stress free which is what we came to Venice for. The hotel's location is quite central on the island so all attractions are in easy reach and with lots of shops bars and restaurants to refresh and entertain you as you walk to see the sights I would say the Santa Marina was a good choice for us to get the best out of our stay in Venice. Our room was very nice clean, modern and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, spoke good English and were happy to answer any questions we had, breakfast was good too lots of choice and even a glass of prosecco was available as we found out it's not uncommon for the people of Venice to start the day that way. Would we stay here again YES absolutely and would bring our friends as we are confident they would enjoy what we have discovered here. Hotel is very well located, being a very easy walkable distance from Fondamente Nove, which is Alilaguna's first stop when coming from the airport, so we took the boat both to and from the airport. It's also in an area that's not that much affected by acqua alta, and has some good restaurants nearby, and a coop market right across. The breakfast was pretty good, with a varied offer of food and drinks. Bed was comfortable and shower was good.

Although I was expecting it to be somewhat corny on the decoration, our room was entirely filled with burgundy colored tapestry, including the bed blanket, which was waaaay too much. The shower box was also unnecessarily small given the size of the bathroom, which needed attention as to not accidentally change the temperature or close the water.

The hotel looks good inside, in Venetian style, the breakfast is quite varied, the staff very ok, they offered us an umbrella when it was raining the hotel is located in a very good area, quieter and not very full of tourists, 5 minutes from the Rialto and about 10 minutes from the center, from the dome

The rooms are small, the ones overlooking the street in front of the entrance are very noisy, you can hear everything that is being said by those outside who pass by on the street. at 6 in the morning it starts to smell like food in the room, the people at the hotel start preparing breakfast and the smell reaches the room very quickly and easily, the smell wakes you up if you have a finer nose in front of the hotel there are about 2 restaurants, in the morning they start to take their tables outside and prepare the terrace, you can hear the noise from the room, you are kind of woken up by the sound of the tables

Good location, very comfortable hotel and a great buffet breakfast.

Bathroom on the small side

The breakfast was amazing, with a choice of pancakes or scrambled egg and bacon, plus an enormous buffet of both sweet and savoury food. The location was generally very quiet, slightly off the main tourist streets. A private water taxi can be ordered to take you directly to the airport from the back of the hotel. The superking bed is gigantic!

I didn't see that the water taxi could come directly to the hotel and so we struggled on the way there over bridges and steps with luggage. Definitely should be added to the description! other than that, there was nothing else we didn't like.

Have been to Venice many times but never before to Hotel Santa Marina. The water taxi dropped us at the edge of the square meaning we only needed to pull our cases 50m around the corner. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. Hotel is in Castello but very close to Rialto, which surprised us. Many eating places nearby, some touristy, others not. Hotel breakfast was excellent. Will definitely stay again.

Nothing. It was really nice to stay somewhere quiet, off the usual tourist routes.

The hotel is located at a very central location yet a quiet square with pastry/caffee-shop, restaurant and mini market all around. The place was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. A bit plus that the reception is 24/7 and staff are ready to help anytime. The room was very nicely decorated in the mood of the city and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good with a variety of savory and sweet choices and exceptional service. Overall, a good place to stay a few days and explore the city.

The building is old and although well transformed, there are aspects of the room that can be improved. Both windows of the room were facing the inner yard which was covered and used for the breakfast area. This had as a result a lot of noise coming from the breakfast area throughout the breakfast time (7am to 11am). Additionally the windows did not have protection from insects and mosquitos therefore, once you would open the windows to air the room, mosquitoes and ants were getting in. Mosquitoes are a known problem of the city but there are ways to prevent them from getting in and improve the stay.

Very nice and helpful personnel. The breakfast was really good. The price of the room and meal was ok. The positioning of the hotel is perfect for staying in the centre of Venice several days (everything you need is several steps distance from the hotel)

The too warm and humid air in the room, air-conditioning present, but not working properly. It was necessary to open the window at midnight (in February). The sound isolation is not obviously first-class.

I booked 7 standard rooms for 14 people - we were all coming from London for a birthday celebration. I chose the hotel on the basis of appearance, affordability, location, and breakfast included. All totally exceeded my and my friends' expectations. A classic Venetian hotel with clean, characterful rooms, generous and helpful staff, and an unexpectedly sensational breakfast. Amazing value for money!

Nothing. It was the perfect hotel for a group of friends visiting in Venice.

The location was nice, not far from most things. we upgraded the room so we had a bath, which was nice. breakfast was great

the bed was 2 single mattresses pushed together after confirmation that we would have a double. the sofa beds couches that were in the room were so slippy and you couldn't sit on them without the ccushion sliding off. minor things. otherwise great.
