On arrival staff very friendly and explained where the breakfast would be served and also where the spa facilities were. Room comfortable and spacious. Bed comfortable. Breakfast was okay. Could have had more variety e.g yoghurts or croissants. Staff polite at breakfast. Hotel itself clean and tidy . Spa facilities let us down as only 2 loungers and 2 tables with chairs and not a very relaxing atmosphere. Sauna facilities seperate and very small. Only used once during stay. No spa treatments available during the week. Overall have stayed in better places.

Free parking was good and the pool was welcome. The staff were friendly.

It's all a bit old and worn out. The gym machines are in a sorry state. The AirCon didn't appear to be switched on in the gym. No Aircon in the bedroom and there wasn't a fan either. No glasses to drink water from. Floor uneven and creaky, which is forgiveable given the age of the place. Windows fairly dirty and all the window flames flaky. The whole place just seems to be in need of an overhaul . I first went there in the 90s and it doesn't seemed to have been updated since then. Breakfast finished at 9am, which seemed quite early .

1. Breakfast could have been better. However it was all about the timing off when we got there so i'm not going to moan and give a poor review. Just one of those things. What we had was super nice. 2. The hardcore dance music we had to tolerate on the Saturday night. It didn't make it ok just because it was a wedding. Nowhere to go on this. No one would appeciate my taste in music if i got married and held my wedding reception to Slipknot or System of a Down for 4 hours non stop. Terrible stay on the Saturday.

It was our first time staying, and we were more than happy with the overall experience. On arrival, Geraldine on reception was so friendly and helped us when one of our key cards wasn't working. She filled us in on what time the facilities were open from and until etc, she's a credit to the hotel. We really enjoyed the ability to use the swimming pool and spa and it was a great way to unwind after a long drive and it was a lovely way for the children to burn off some energy. The grounds looked well maintained with seating outside. It was a shame that it was raining as we couldn't appreciate the space in its entirety. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was modest but flavoursome. It was great to be offered a big pot of tea and coffee on the table, there was no need to get up everytime someones cup was empty and refill at a station. The tables were really nicely dressed too. The hotel is dated in decor (no doubt the place to be in its hay day), however we thought it added to its overall charm and price wise, for what we paid was on par with some of the more modern budget hotels we've stayed that have no character what so ever and no leisure facilities what so ever. It was in a great location for accessing activities in Chester and Ellesmere Port which were a short drive away. We will definitely be looking to stay again and are already looking forward to it. Thank you to all the staff who made the stay enjoyable.

There did seem to be a bit on an issue with key cards, throughout the hotel, although once dealt with, we had no further problems. The pillows were a bit flat, so maybe it's time for some new ones? Not sure if some rooms are still smoking rooms or just someone being unfair, but if smoking rooms do exist in the hotel, it might be time to do away with those as the smell did carry and as none smokers the smell in the corridor wasn't great, especially for children. Maybe a couple more items on the hot buffet breakfast might have been an added bonus but otherwise it was a good breakfast. Thanks again for a great stay.

REAL PEOPLE PLEASE READ as this hotel must be losing business based on The untrue and misleading reviews on this hotel it actually near put us off booking and I think people expect the plaza for £25. Myself and my husband spent a day reading reviews for a night away from our children which was a much needed break. I suffer from mental health illnesses and needed to feel safe and comfortable but something told me to ignore the reviews and book anyway.. The hotel itself had character , warmth, and the staff were wonderful, welcoming and couldn't do enough to ensure a comfortable stay. From the attentiveness of fintan , the general manager, on arrival to the lovely welcome letter he's written and left in rooms. Which highlights how much the hotel can offer and the history of both itself and fintan. Danny who waited on was so positive and a pleasure to chat to we were so impressed by him and his enthusiasm to work at the hotel , he spoke highly of fintan and the other staff and it was so refreshing to meet a team of people working together with joy. The hotel Was clean and comfortable the bed was massive!! And the food was beautiful, even chef came out to ensure everything was ok. The grounds are stunning and yes it is not decorated in grey and silver with mirrored glass furniture. But it is warm and cosy and feels good to relax there. We will deffo be using the Molly B as our go to place from now.. prices are great aswell.... included in £123 was a nights stay with breakfast which was well cooked and a good variety, freshly cooked foods constantly added. Along side the usual continental bits The morning waiting on staff were lovely and friendly and again couldn't help enough. Also included was a 2 course evening meal again cooked well with good ingredients and presented lovely aswell as huge portions.

The misleading reviews on booking.com. I don't like how these reviews will negatively impact this business of this hotel , which then impacts the lovely people who work there. It's not the shankly with a whirlpool bath in the middle of mirrors but it is a country hotel with character charm and warmth.

Room number 5 is fabulous, four poster bed, exceptionally comfortable, really good night's sleep. The restaurant food is amazing, plates hot, food piping hot and the sauce on the chicken was divine. The breakfast was good as well the bacon was cooked just how I like it, cooked! And not see through, again everything was piping hot. The grounds to the hotel were lovely to walk around as it was a sunny day. This place is a fantastic wedding venue also we were married here in 2010 and it was lovely to come back and it still have such a high standard of service and quality. We will be returning as great location to travel lots of places in and around Cheshire.

It is a warm cosy welcoming establishment . It has its own style and personality, with very friendly accommodating staff. Lounge area with different styled relaxing chairs and sofas. Food was good. Hot and flavoursome. Pool warm and was of a good size and as unable to swim it is 1.2 meters deep throughout which was good for me. Good nights sleep in large comfortable bed. Lovely spacious room with Tea and coffee facilities in room. Lots of parking space.

Not that I didn’t like and nothing spoilt our stay, but need to point out that maintenance and update is required in most areas due to wear and tear. If using the pool and changing area ,You will need to take a small lock and key as lockers don’t lock. This area does need an upgrade.

Great customer service all round

The musk,,dampness in the room and hall way, I had quickly learnt to pull the drapes over the table to allow the hidden heater dry the room out

We liked The old Style of the building and the different style of chairs in the lounge. Our room was spacious and had a warm comfortable feeling ( room 8). The spa area and pool looked great but due to our late arrival we didn’t get time to use it. The Manager was friendly and had time for a friendly chat. The lovely receptionist was helpful and friendly along with the restaurant staff. A bit out of season to go on the terrace. A very pleasant stay for us.

The plastic card door key system took several attempts to get in the room each time. There is a lot of wear and tear on furnishings and doors. This did not put us off. The establishment had an inviting appeal. We will return soon.

Hotel is in a great location, 5mins to Chester, 10 mins Cheshire oaks designer outlet and shopping village, close to M56 and M53 motorways, right on the north Wales border, the staff were really polite and although we never ate at the hotel we spoke to others who did that said the food was good and reasonably priced. We did use the gym and swimming Pool both of which were clean and well maintained Would definitely stay again

I wouldn't say that there was anything we didn't like Although the hotel is clean I would say that the whole place is in need of a little freshen up as the decor is a little dated
