There are so many things we enjoyed; the architectural grandeur of the hotel, the almost implausible cleanliness of the place, the rambling gardens and the outdoor swimming pool that are absent from almost all of Valletta’s hotels, and the consistently impeccable service. Being able to take breakfast outside near the pool was a real joy too. Ultimately, though, it is the people that make the biggest difference to the experience, and here the Phoenicia is a triumph. One of the risks of staying in such a large hotel is that you can loose the sense of overt friendliness and intimacy that smaller establishments with only a handful of staff typically deliver. Our first time at the Phoenicia completely put paid to that notion, where we encountered nothing but warmth and easy-going affability and interesting conversations with all the staff we chatted with.

No fault of the hotel whatsoever, but when they dock, the enormous cruise ships can disgorge thousands of extra visitors into Valletta. Fortunately, the Phoenicia's extensive facilities: spa, gardens, outdoor pool area, public places etc, mean that you can usefully occupy yourself in the relative peace of the hotel when the crowds become too intense

The Phoenicia really is exceptional. Excellent facilities including the outdoor infinity pool that runs alongside the old bastion wall, and the indoor pool and spa. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast selection, lounge area, bar and restaurant. The hotel was extremely clean, with room service clearing our room twice a day. It's also in a brilliant location, just outside the city walls of Valetta, meaning we could easily walk into the city in the evening for meals, drinks and live music. The hotel also has a concierge able to assist with planning day trips and arranging anything you require. We've stayed here before, and will certainly do so again in future.

Genuinely no complaints whatsoever. The hotel is superb.

This was our second stay at The Phoenicia Hotel. As before, everything was perfect. From the ever friendly staff (breakfast, poolside bar, spa, domestic and turn-down team) to the comfort of the room and the view over the yacht harbour. The hotel provides a great breakfast in the restaurant that sets you up for the day and has good bar facilities in the evening. The hotel infinity pool / bar is set in it's own gardens and overlooks the harbour. We needed it as the temperature was 35 degrees. We also treated ourselves to a hotel spa massage and treatment which was great. The hotel is in an excellent location 300 metres outside Valetta city walls. Rather than use the hotel restaurant we chose to eat in the evening in the city (lots of restaurants - seafood / Italian etc). Whilst we were there, the city had a beer and music festival - very good entertainment. The hotel is also very near the transport hub and we took a hop-on / hop off bus tour of the south of the island - good value and a good way to see the essentials - as well as day trips to the resort of Sliema (shopping) and an escorted tour of the "3 cities" (the 3 strongholds that the Knights of The Order of St John built before Valetta) - again good value with a really lovely and informative guide. All in all The Phoenicia is exceptional and we hope to return very soon.

1-We loved this Hotel in every aspect, it was amazing from the beginning when they received us upon arrival and took our luggage, till we checked out and Mr. Redwan from the reception was there for farewell to the moment we drove away to the airport! 2- Upon our arrival There was a welcoming message in hand writing addressed to us with a gift from the hotel, it was a nice gesture. 3-Amazing staff, I honestly have experienced a lot of hotels all over the world, but to meet a staff such as in Phoenicia Hotel is something extraordinary, they keep smiling at us, greeting us, and special thanks in this regard goes to Mr. Redwan from the reception and Miss. Shan from Palm court. 4- The cleaning is unbelievable, spotless everywhere, imagine your room is being cleaned twice! They have night cleaning in addition to the morning cleaning, at night they simply knock the door and if you were in the room they ask you if you need night cleaning or anything in regard to the housekeeping, 5-They is a Flower base being replaced with fresh flowers vase every day, I did say this is an amazing hotel! 6-The location of the hotel is stunning in the heart of Valetta, few meters from the entrance you find yourself at the beautiful fountain, few steps and you are among the shops, restaurants, and coffee shops of the wonderful Valetta. 7- The view from the room was out of this world, we enjoyed the harbor view. 8- Amazing gardens on site, we enjoyed walking through the trees and flowers all the way to the swimming pool, and there we enjoyed our delicious drink. 9-The breakfast at contessa restaurant was a breathtaking when we sit at the terrace enjoying the morning breeze, though you need to come early to find a table in the terrace otherwise enjoy having your breakfast inside in a cosy ambiance. 10The restaurants were great, the contessa and the bar steak, we really enjoyed the most delicious steak in the bar steak restaurant.

I wish if they had bigger smart TV instead of the small channel list one. However it is a small thing and doesn’t affect the splendid quality.

Breakfasts were very nice and staff were accommodating , our room was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed our time in the spa space.

Unfortunately, one of the parking Valets was not very polite (he did not wear a name tag); he was dismissive upon our arrival and proceed to light his cigarette without approaching us. When we approached him to hand over the car keys, he took them and threw them into the car and then kept smoking his cigarette.

Breakfast was very good. Also, the Beef Bar had an excellent choice of alternatives to beef, as I, Marilyn, don’t eat beef! But my husband, John, does and enjoyed a delicious piece of beef.

We weren’t impressed by the hotel’s main menu. In fact Marilyn could not find anything to choose from it! So we mostly ate out, apart from the last night where we had a super dinner in the Beef Bar. Suggestion :- a greater choice of food on the hotel menu, eg. chicken dishes, white fish dishes, vegetarian option. We would never eat octopus as it’s a highly intelligent mollusc.

100% would stay again! the location was the best as it's so close to central Valetta... The staff were so good, and matched the high quality perception of the hotel when you walk in. Room service staff were great too! Special shout out to Enya who walked us through wedding planning. the pool area is the man of the match! so chilled, clean and the views by the pool are exceptional. the pool staff are also great, they operate with a fine line between checking in too much and not enough so you are able to not be disturbed but t the same get a drink when needed.

honestly cannot think of anything negative. We had a very positive stay with the hotel and there were no issues, i am sure if there were they would have been a quick solution.

The hotel is situated in a perfect place, just in front the entrance to old city of Valletta. The view is very nice and you can enjoy each moment of your stay. Phoenicia has it own history and keeps the high class of hospitality performance.

Our room floor was exclusively covered with tiles, which makes the room less cosy and you cannot walk with no socks or slippers on. TV does not have an option to switch Netflix or any other application which is now actively used. I consider high class rooms should have a better technical equipment.

Staff at the Phoenicia were very friendly and attentive to detail! They even prepared our room and decorated it for our anniversary! We said more than once that it's one of the best hotels on the Maltese islands!
