If you don't wake up early to leave your towel on the chair and reserve it, you will be left without a chair to sit on the beach. The hotel is great, the room is great, cleanliness is great, but the hotel should prohibit guests from reserving chairs with towels. I arrived at the beach early, sat on a chair and stayed there for 3 hours, from 9am to 12pm, and of the 14 chairs available, 10 were left unattended during all those hours, occupied only with reserved towels so that no one could occupy them. This is absurd because people arrived to stay on the beach and couldn't use the chairs because they were reserved. I went out for lunch and came back at 2:30, and again, there were no chairs available, not because they were occupied by people, but by towels (because everyone had probably gone to lunch as well, and left the towels there). Again I spent hours on the beach, and the owners of the towels arrived hours after that, of course after heir had lunch and afternoon naps. And I say this because I simply took any of the chairs that had a towel on them and sat down. And for hours no one showed up. The hotel isn't cheap for guests to experience these types of frustrations, so the hotel should prohibit this kind of thing or have enough chairs for each guest.

The location was very central, close to the party area but far enough to not be bothered by the noise. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is very beautiful and well architected, with a good view on the beach from any room upstairs. The breakfast was delivered to the room and just right. Bonus points for the hammock on the balcony.

The downside of the hotel's architecture has to be with privacy, with a relatively close vis-a-vis to the rooms on the other side. This can be relevant when exiting the bathroom carelessly. The beach directly outside the hotel was not really appropriate for swimming, as some boats were parked there.

I had such a wonderful stay at Playa Palms. For the rate I paid, I think I got an incredible deal. The room was huge, beautifully decorated, had a small kitchen, and the most wonderful balcony. I spent most of my time on the balcony, where you had a view of the water and could hear the waves. I was worried about the noise of the clubs nearby, but had no trouble sleeping at night. Breakfast was simple but good, and was delivered to my room at a prearranged time every morning.

The beachfront location is fantastic. We booked the Ocean front studio on the 2nd floor. It had a lovely balcony with a hammock to relax in. The kitchen in the unit was very handy. The room was spacious and very comfortable with loads of storage. Surrounded by loads of restaurants, shopping and nightlife. The hotel was very quiet. A very relaxing stay. Xplor Park was a lot of fun if you like the water and zip lining.

Smelt slightly fishy when we arrived due to the boats anchored up in front of the property. Not an ideal swimming beach.

The hotel staff was really wonderful. The hotel itself is charming and the rooms have nice balconies and are well furnished. The location is excellent.

One of the filters in my hotel search was "beachfront." I believe this hotel used to be beachfront but because the beach has eroded, as in much of Playa del Carmen, there was a drop off in front of the lounge chairs so you could not walk into the ocean. Also, I booked a room with an "ocean view." The hotel is u-shaped with a pool in the middle with street at one end and ocean on the other. The balconies face each other so that only the rooms on the end near the ocean have a real ocean view.

We had the 1st floor family suite with ocean view. Very comfortable, good space and wonderful helpful staff! Carlos was an excellent tour arranger - assisting us with what we wanted to do! You can’t get any more beach front than our room as the beach was maybe 15 yards from the door of our room. We did a fishing boat tour with Santos at the hotel and it was a great experience- the restaurant next door used the fish we caught and made us a delicious ceviche and grilled the other fish we caught for our dinner. Very delicious! We will definitely be back!

The staff was superb, very friendly and attentive. The room very clean, great size and having a kitchen was a plus, the deck with the ocean view was magnificent!! We had continental breakfast on our package, that was brought to our room at our desired time every morning. We were also able to add more breakfast choices for $3.00 per person. great value!! the chilaquiles with chicken was our favorite, my husband love it!! and one order was enough to share. The location was perfect, one block from 5th Ave, where everything happens, but at the same time quite enough to have a nice and relaxing sleeping night with the sounds of the ocean. The tides were high not a lot of sand space, but close enough to walk to the public beach area and enjoy.

The pool area is very small not having an specific area to walk around and spread some chairs. There's a bar beside the hotel that service the beach area but nothing that could be added to our room or to our final bill. You'll need to sattle it per day.

Gorgeous architecture and the most authentic vibe, from the sidewalk through the courtyard to the pool with the beach literally steps further, and the charmingly, if intimidatingly, tightly spiral staircase corridor up to my room. I was in a somewhat urgent situation, in a panic frankly, and the aesthetic was INSTANTLY soothing. Furthermore, the staff were so warm and sensitive, even as we struggled a bit to communicate, it was clear I wasn’t ok and they made me feel so safe and welcome.

Not their fault but the algae smell was a bit overwhelming at times, but it was everywhere, not just the hotel.

Whole hotel staff is very polite and pro-client oriented. Everyone greets you and treat your request immediately. We felt very safe there. During night hotel entrance is monitored by night guard, who politely check every person entering hotel to check if they are hotel clients. I already came sick with fever. Hotel staff recommended very good and transparent clinic just 200m from hotel. Maid was changing my bed linen twice a day a disinfecting our room, so my family not get flu from me. Our fridge stopped cooling and they changed it in 10 mins. There ´s a capsule coffee machine on room with some complimentary capsules and you can buy more at reception. If you are polite and ask for reasonable amount, they will give you more for free. Loved hanging net on terrace. 10 out of 10. Perfect services.

The style of the hotel is very cool, the layout of the central area with the pool and has lots of palm trees and plants was my favorite part. Super close to everything on 5th avenue. Very walkable.

The continental breakfast we paid extra for was a little underwhelming. It was ok and more of a convenience than anything else. There really is little to no beach. this is a 30 foot wide sandy part with beach chairs but don't expect access to the water. There is some erosion with sandbags and boats parked in the water.
