The hotel is rather new, was inaugurated 2 years ago and is built according to European standards. It is located in the city centre, but in a rather busy area as everything in the Thamel district. Due to its green as well as its cleaness, you feel rejuverated when you step in because you leave behind the noice and the dust. It serves continental and american breakfast, which are really generous and the menu has european, indian, nepali dishes which are excellent. Opposite the hotel there are 3 tourist office shops where you may book excursions and also bargain the price. I booked a budha air flight to the everest for 210 USD. It was worthy because the cabin crew offers personalised explanations on the mountains and takes photos while you are close to everest; make sure you select a left side seat on the aircraft in order to have more time gaizing the Everest. Also, going out of the hotel alley to the street- on the left- there is a currency exchange where you may change money and bargain a bit the rate. The hotel is highly recommended for people with mobility issues as it lacks steps, has and elevator and the corridor to the restaurant is reclined. The airport taxi costs 10USD approximately, however if you book it from the application 'indrive' it is about 500 rupies. The staff is friendly, proficient in English and do their best to make your stay easy and comfortable.

The area, I would have preffered a location which is a little cleaner

Great place to stay. It had everything - a gym (which is rare for hotels in that area), a spa onsite where i had amazing massages, and excellent breakfast spread which you can enjoy with a view of a cosy courtyard. The hotel is in/close to the Thamel district where shops and restaurants abound, so very conveniently located. Service, particularly at the restaurant during breakfast, was fantastic! Great wait staff.

The hotel should consider installing Netflix-enabled TVs in the rooms. Most of the other 4-star hotels in the area have this service, so i feel it’s only a matter of time that this hotel ought to as well. Probably not a big issue but the WiFi did drop a few times over the course of the 6 days i stayed there. The barman could be friendlier… nothing draws a crowd better than a friendly barman and good music…. although my guess is language differences may have been the obstacle and handicap in this instance, because Nepalis are generally very hospitable, and friendly.

Thrive Hotel in Kathmandu impressed me so much that I felt inspired to write this review. It’s a truly outstanding hotel with a clean, well-maintained property where every detail is thoughtfully designed. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist and make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel’s restaurant is a highlight, offering delicious dishes served in a beautifully designed interior. On the top floor, there is a gym with sufficient equipment, but the real gem is the breathtaking view of Kathmandu, including the famous Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple. A small note for those who care about gym equipment: The gym includes a bench, dumbbells up to 20 kg, horizontal and vertical cable pulls, leg curl and leg extension machines, a press machine with adjustable angles, an elliptical trainer, a stationary bike, a treadmill, as well as complimentary water and towels.

The only minor downside was the noisy ventilation at night, but it wasn’t a major issue.

We were a family group so opted for the 3 bedroom apartment on 5th floor that was amazing. worked really well for our long weekend in Kathmandu including the Everest flight on the Saturday morning. Airport only 1/2 hour a way. Short 10 in walk into central Thamel for restaurants and shopping. And we walked to Durbar Square and other Kathmandu sights. Lovely peaceful setting and inner courtyard & great food in the hotel restaurant. Staff very helpful & they organised a hotel driver to take us out for the day to see some of the other sights in Kathmandu like Monkey Temple and Buddha Stupa.

Everything is outstanding. The service, the (fresh) food, the peaceful and sleek environment. The tropical garden is heavenly and quiet, in the heart of Kathmandu. You don’t hear anything from the street, only a zen music background, the charming noise of the flowing water from the stunning fountain. It’s a very safe place, with amazing security guards. The rooms are super clean, spacious, and neat. We felt like home. Thank you a million times for making our Kathmandu trip so special.

The tropical courtyard was a real pleasure. The restaurant served a good variety of food and even cooked something to order for us, which we appreciated. Staff were attentive, polite and helpful, always eager to serve the customer. Definitely recommended, and good value for the tourist wanting a bit of luxury at an affordable price.

Noisy guests in the courtyard, which doubled as a smoking area. Some kind of notice asking guests to be respectful of others by keeping noise to a minimum might have helped, but some folk would probably take no notice anyway! The sound was sometimes clearly audible in our room which faced the courtyard. When other guests were quiet, the courtyard was a lovely place to sit, with the birds and the waterfall providing a welcome contrast to the noise and bustle of Thamel just outside the gates.

Excellent location, very convenient to Durbar Square, former Palace, Peace Garden, Monkey Temple and Thamel. I walked everywhere. The courtyard garden was an oasis and I had trees and birds outside my window. Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Chiya Nepali tea was excellent and the spicy pumpkin soup was outstanding.

Had the Ayurveda massage and there was nothing specially or genuinely Ayurveda included. It was just another massage. I had to leave early morning for a flight and breakfast wasn't open until 7:00. A packed croissant and fruit would have been appreciated. Perhaps I should have asked. Driving from the airport through the narrow, seedy streets of the old city I was a bit shocked about the location, but then we drove into Hotel Thrive and it was wonderful. So not bad at all!!

Hotel Thrive is a rare thing in the Kathmandu market - a modern, mid-range, functional hotel where everything (mostly) works. It's extremely comfortable, the staff are super switched on and helpful, and the breakfast buffet is great. I had a lot of writing to do, so I booked and came to this hotel for one main reason: the real office chair and good writing desk in the rooms - I've found this feature almost impossible to find, and it was a welcome relief. My other favourite feature of the hotel is the little gym - it's small, basic, but it does the job - good, new equipment (including a sensible range of dumbbells).

The only downside at this hotel was something strange going on with the electricity switch where it would regularly switch off for a second and then back on - this was annoying, as it would turn off the TV mid-show for example, and turn off the AC (which would then need to be turned back on - not great when you're sleeping). This wasn't power cuts, as it wasn't happening at other hotels, but seems to be an issue with the electrics in Hotel Thrive itself. Once this is fixed, the hotel will be perfect.

We traveled as a group of four friends and had an incredible stay at Thrive Hotel! The location is perfect—within walking distance of Thamel. The staff and manager are extremely helpful and friendly; everyone greets you with a smile and makes you feel special. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant, bar, and spa services. Additionally, the hotel assisted us in organizing trips, tickets, and taxis at preferential rates, including private drivers, tourist guides, and mountain flights. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone—10/10! True masters of hospitality. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Although situated in the middle of Thamel it is very calm and quiet. The green inner yard enhance the restful feeling. Personal was very freely and helpful and the standard of the room is very nice - the beds are really comfy 😊
