I stayed here more than 30 years ago, before the earthquake and when I looked it up online I was delighted that it was still there. I always remembered that it was a nice place - a bit better than some of the cheaper lodges/hotels, and because I was familar with it, I booked for my daughter and I, who I was meeting there. The photos looked great and we were not disappointed. Maybe, due to the new building work that had went on, the hotel had been upgraded and in great condition. We extended our stay for an extra day and will be staying there at the end of our holiday again. The staff are lovely, very helpful and speak good English, which made every transaction and enquiry fluid. I highly recommend The Potala Guest House.

the property is very nice, those who are interested to feel the downtown of Thamel in terms of local markets, this location is excellent. I could just walk to various places to get a feel of Thamel.. Fairly safe. Staff has been very good, cordial and helpful. I used in drive app for local travel. This location is well-known and so had a smooth sailing experience of booking in-drive vehicles.. Did not have to do phone calls etc to explain the location. Overall, facility is nice, staff has been very good, and the location is excellent, too. It indeed is value for money. I much appreciated the staff's openness to allow be an additional hour beyond check out time. The billing was quick and hassle-free.

Kathmandu is fairly warm in May-June.. Rooms should have at least a ceiling fan. Basin the bathroom was leaking. Could be better maintained and repaired on time before assigned to guests.

Namaste, nice room, nice view from rooftop, very friendly and helpful staff, always going the extra mile, good food, safe storage, had a great breakfast on new years day. Thank you:) I stayed there for 11 days, before and after the Mount Everest base camp track. I booked my flight to Lukla on the Hotel Entry, too.

Exceptional value with delightful staff. The restaurant is a hidden gem with high-class Asian and Western food at very fair prices. The Flat White coffee is authentic, just like its and my original home: Wellington NZ!

Really nothing.

The location is perfect, staff is super friendly and helpful, showers are hot, they have gallons of water on every floor, and the breakfast is high standard.

One room had a bit of cigarette smell and the place can be a bit noisy at night due to the thin windows.

The staff is incredible, and I felt very safe. They weee always helpful and friendly.

The madras was a little dirty, but the linen and the cleaning was perfect.

The staff of the Potola Guest House was very welcoming and pleasantful. They went extra miles beyond the normal calls to accomdate my requests. The facilities in the guest house is highly recommended. Not only it is very clean, it is very centric in location.

Very friendly staff that helped a lot. I lost my mobile in a taxi and they helped me getting it back. That was awesome! Very reliable. We also enjoyed the hot shower, water was hot within a few seconds. That's extraordinary (if you know Nepalese hotels...) In the restaurant they served a breakfast which was enough (no buffet). Try the cappuccino. That's the best one we had in Nepal. Very creamy. Delicious!

Comfortable and clean rooms, friendly staffs! Drinking water provides for free. Hot shower available 24 hrs. Superb location in Thamel. Markham Bistro just below the hotel serves great foods and coffee. This restaurant is halal too. There are also several other halal restaurant nearby. Would definitely stay here again when I’m in Kathmandu. 😊

Water kettle not in the room but you can get hot water from the restaurant.

Very very pleased with our room and the location of the hotel. It’s in the centre of Thamel but was very quiet at night and excellent rooms and beds wit lots of space. the price was very good and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly!
