The courtyard garden was magic! Created a lush secluded privacy to the room. Everything was spotlessly clean and fresh, the kitchenette well stocked with nice tea and coffee, and the bed very cosy indeed. I loved the aurora borealis artwork over the bed too. Thankyou to the lovely staff who went out of their way to be accommodating. I really appreciated the hotel being right beside an excellent Thai restaurant where I could get vegetarian food. I liked the location which was handy by foot to so many Dunedin features: the University Book Shop, University of Otago, the botanic gardens, the Woodhaugh Gardens, George Street shopping, the Gardens shops and so on. There was a bus stop outside to go to St Clair beach. All good!

The heating was not on when I arrived, despite the cold evening. It was a panel heater in the room that I had to fumble with a bit to get it going. The shower head was not adjustable - a bit of a problem for a short person like me.

The location and off the road parking are great. The room was lovely, very clean, the bed was comfortable, there were home made biscuits on arrival. There is a guest laundry which came in handy on a long trip. The staff are very helpful. As Aurora on George doesn’t do breakfast, The Oaken Cafe, which is a very short walk from Aurora, does an amazing breakfast!!!

The shower control was loose and if you hit it, turning around it turned off. Water was wasted whilst trying to get it right. As the off the wall towel rack was in front of the toilet, it could be mistakenly used as a hand hold, which I did being unbalanced due to Parkinson’s. It is not safe or rated for this purpose. The noise from the bathroom fan, which comes on with the light is extremely loud especially at nighttime. The noise from the upstairs guest rooms are very loud!

Very comfortable room with plenty of space. Loved the nightlight and the USB socket on the bedside lamps. The gardens were lovely and nice to sit out there in the afternoon. Very comfortable bed. Close to city centre and the stix restaurant next door was very good. Good coffee provided for coffee plunger in room and loved the milk provided in glass bottles. Laundry facilities were good with complimentary washing powder and good sized load washed for $3 and dried for $4.

No heated towel rail which we had gotten used to in other accommodation, we don't like to change towels every day for water conservation but towels weren't quite dry when we used them next morning. We also couldn't work out how to get the underfloor heating to work, maybe it only works in winter but it was something that was advertised as a special comfort in the advertising. The freezer wasn't working well in our room (5) so no ice cubes and our ice lollys were a bit soft.

Check-in was great, Kent showed me around the property and explained everything. The In-room compendium was very thorough. The guest laundry was cheap, easy to use and efficient. The room was spacious and very clean. The home made biscuits were delicious! The location was really good, easy to walk to any shops you might need. Heated floors in the bathroom are a really nice touch. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful. They collect food waste for their worm farm - this was awesome as I'm used to composting at home.

The carpark was a bit tight with a full house, but there are enough spaces for 1 car per unit. Could hear TVs from neighbouring rooms and loud foodsteps from the room above me.

The rooms were very spacious, it’s a quirky property tucked away inconspicuously in a fairly nondescript area of Dunedin but it even has a little enclosed garden and is very quiet. All the rooms surround the garden. We had one with disabled access which worked well and of all the places we stayed on our road trip these rooms were easily the most spacious. There are tea and coffee making facilities and we had a lovely breakfast at the Good Earth cafe which is very close by.

Hotel was very clean. Suite looked brand new. Kitchen and fixtures all new. Parking was free, easy and on premises. Front desk (Duncan) very responsive, helpful, and affable. If you need TV, plenty of free options. 15 minute walk down George to Dunedin center. Many restaurants of all stripes on the way along George St. Albatross/Penguin centers about 35 minutes out of town on beautiful coastal road/Otago peninsula—worth a visit. Would happily stay at Aurora again.

I was travelling solo and thought it to be a wonderful place. The staff were all friendly and helpful and gave the impression that they were pleased to see and help me. The rooms are warm, spotless, well appointed and look out onto an attractive central courtyard containing trees and shrubs. The property is located about 200 metres from the University and 600 metres from the city centre. The Aurora on George is excellent.

Lovely quiet room in a beautiful garden setting with parking and easy access. Thoughtfully and stylishly furnished, with a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom with heated floor. Staff were friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. Having a restaurant right out the front was also very convenient. Homemade cookies upon arrival were a lovely touch.

Nothing really not to like but the grouting in the shower could probably benefit from a thorough clean.

This motel is situated in a great location on George Street and is handy to the city centre. The room was comfortable and warm and it was a nice touch to be shown there by the manager on duty. The home baked cookies were a lovely added extra and having Buddha Sticks right next door as a place to eat is also a bonus if you don't want to go too far to for a meal. Free parking is also great to have.

The hotel is large and has a beautiful garden view. Parking is very convenient. The staff is very friendly and gave us milk. There are also cookies in the room, and we are very grateful! The facilities are complete, the room is clean, and the bed is very comfortable. The transportation is also very convenient. Dunedin and this hotel are both good places! There are also corresponding instructions and tips for guests in the room. Highly recommended.
