Room was a good size and had everything we needed - including a bath which was a treat. Very friendly staff and we noted there was a washing machine downstairs, which we didnt need but is a great service for longer term travellers. Parking was a little tight but manageable. Amazing building with great history which we appreciated. Close to the Botanic Gardens and walkable to town if you prefer to not be driving.

Room was clean and tidy but 'spring cleaning' tasks like doors & headboard could do with a good going over. Some of the decorations werent in keeping with the property's history, which of course doesnt detract from the comfort levels, just think it would be good to celebrate the era a little more in the decor.

The hotel was in a really convenient spot close to the gardens. It was really comfortable and had everything we needed, even access to the laundry, and we considered it to be excellent value..The staff were very friendly and helpful. We loved the old-world charm from the Victoria era. The beds were very comfortable as well.

Just be aware that it is an old building so there is no lift, easy solution if you can't do stairs, ask for a ground floor room. The carparking is also pretty tight, but neither of these things took away from our wonderful impression of Highland house.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Highland House Boutique Hotel, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully designed interior that exuded both elegance and comfort. The rooms were immaculate, stylishly decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep, and the attention to detail—from the plush linens to the charming decor—made the space feel extra special. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. They were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with recommendations for dining and local attractions. The breakfast was a delightful treat, featuring fresh and locally sourced ingredients, and it truly set the tone for the day. The location was another highlight—peaceful yet conveniently close to key attractions. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or a refined retreat, Highland House Boutique Hotel is the perfect choice. I highly recommend it and can't wait to return! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Big room, nice and tidy wih everything you need, microwave, sink, dishes and utensils. It does have a heater and a bath tub in the bathroom.

- Heater in the room is not warm enough, it turned on and off from time to time according to the thermostat, but it wont be on continuously longer than 15 minutes regardless of maximizing the theromstat, and it wo't be on again soon, at least wait for another 15-30 minutes. - Parking space was available, but it is a bit tight for reversing. But there is no problem for my compqct vehicle, so it's not that bad.

A very enjoyable experience staying at Highland Boutique Hotel in an ideal location (5 minutes walk to KFC and some other restaurants, a short drive to supermarkets and the Octagon, botanical gardens close by). Friendly and helpful reception and hotel staff. Very comfortable beds, clean room, nice bath to relax in, good sized fridge, great heater, excellent WiFi, and safe environment.

I liked everything.

Room was well maintained and had a historical charm consistent with Dunedin's history. Very close to city centre and other important parts of the city like Botanical Gardens, Museum etc. and very lively location for a short visit to the city.

Guest parking is a bit cramped, there isn't any signage or guidance around off-street/overflow parking when the parking behind the building becomes full.

Lovely big room , nice and warm and older style but tastefully furnished. loved the high ceilings and really big en-suite (for wheelchair we worked out). Volume of water coming from the shower was strong! It was great to have off street parking and a Dairy across the road. Also on the main bus route into town.

Bed was a little uncomfortable and both my wife and I didn't sleep well unfortunately. We were warned when we arrived that during peak times the hot water would sometimes run out, and indeed this almost came to pass one morning. a simple solution would be to install a more water efficient shower nozzle as the one installed had an almost ridiculously strong flow. If all the showers in the Hotel are the same no wonder they have issues!

Lovely character building, with beautiful furniture, comfortable bed, spacious room with well equipped kitchen area, large bathroom.

The freezer box on the fridge was choked with ice so that the door would not shut. We had to deal with that ourselves. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. Dusty furniture and stairways thick with dust. Parking was very tight.

It was very clean. Smelt nice inside. The bed was comfy. Loved the olde bathroom sink and handle flush loo. Very cottage like. Decorated inside to keep in cottage feel. Close to a nice pub with good food, music and service. Staff at Highland House Boutique Hotel we encountered were happy and helpful.

The parking was tight. Lucky we had a smaller car.

The Manager was very pleasant & welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean, it had all necessary basic equipment. The Hotel was an older historic building and had been very tastefully renovated and modernised, including all kitchen & bathroom plumbing, lighting and extra electrical outlets fitted. Location was excellent. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay here very much.

Nothing to dislike. Overall a very pleasant stay.
