The Motel is in a good location on the quieter side of town while the Gorge is closed, but still close enough to all takeaway options etc. The host is an amazing lady, very friendly and always goes out of her way to make you feel welcome.

The last two times I've stayed I've been blessed with being in a unit next to what I assume is a long term stayer, and they spent alot of time smoking and drinking outside their unit, which in turn meant I got the smoking fumes and noise from them chatting and carrying on with the windows open, and then even when they were in their room they weren't overly considerate of neighbours.

It was very nice and cosy. Receptionist came to check on us 10 mins after we went to our room to ensure we were happy with it and give us milk. And followed up the next morning to see if we wanted our room serviced. following morning of checkin I had my parents visit the second day we were there and they decided to stay the night as well. Lady at reception , sorry I didn't get her name ,was very lovely accommodating and got a vacant room ready asap

Wasn't anything I could complain about. It was all perfect peaceful and accommodating. I accidently ordered a room too big for the 2 of us but it was still fine

Loved our stay, the room was very spacious for a motel and very clean. I usually get sniffly in motels if they are stuffy but this one I felt fine. Clean linen, TV with Netflix etc, full kitchen - Kitchen was well equipped with utensils, crockery, toaster etc. The location was perfect as we were catching a concert at Te Ahu Library which is right across the street. Bonus was the ability to bring our dog, ensured we brought her lockable cage so she stayed in her area - a dog park nearby too which is awesome.

The lighting is a bit dim.

I love everything about this motel. Albeit old, it is maintained and cleaned well. All the amenities are working. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with basic utensils, pots and pans. They also have Netflix! The receptionist at the hotel is also very friendly and accomodating. She made sure we had everything we need. Even invited us for Christmas dinner! This is a good stop over before heading to Cape Reinga.

AWESUM!.. location situated in the township handy to all the shops I wanted. The hostess made me feel very welcomed AND!.. valued much appreciated. My accommodation was over and above what I expected clean, tidy, fresh and equipped too my needs.

More time off to stay longer than 1 night.

Good size kitchen for family to sit around, plenty of plugs and beds for everyone. Big enough bathroom with plenty of space to move around Good to see a heat pump and outdoor seating Comfortable beds and warm blankets

Couch had a sag in the middle, could do with stronger lights and would be handy having a key drop box if no admin is onsite to take keys when checking out. Possibly have a full size oven instead of a freezer under the bench unused and a 2 plate bench stove. Table top wobbles around too much while eating

Convenient for our visit as we were up from Auckland for a nephew's wedding. Staying at Kauri Lodge relieved my mum's place as other family members stayed with her for the weekend and gave us our own space.

There was nothing to dislike

Loida is excellent host. She was very polite, efficient and helpful. Checkin and checkout was quick. Dedicated parking in front of room, great central location across the road from playground, close to EV charger, on site pool, and clean comfortable beds.

The location of the place is perfect for travel in the north island and have a place to sleep. The bills included are perfect for cooking and breakfast if you already have food. If not, near the place is a pack'n save to buy everything you need.

The unit layout was great, and it was presented in a very clean and tidy manner. The shower was great and it had a large kitchen area.

The TV decided that it didn't want to stay connected to the Wifi and meant I was unable to watch Netflix etc.
