The studio room we stayed in was so quiet at night, and they provided so many blankets for when it cold at night. The heater did a good job warming up the room for the night, too. The staff was so friendly. I loved chatting to them and patting their two furry receptionists. It was definitely worth the money for the place! Check in and check out was so easy. Definitely staying here next Palmygeddon.

Only thing I can think of is the road is sometimes hard to get back onto due to traffic but I imagine that the reality for all the accommodation along this main road. Still very much worth it. Beds were a tiny bit firm but that's just down to preference, and it didn't impede my sleep.

Owners are amazing!! Great attitude, very welcoming and positive! Lovely cosy unit with everything we needed. Very child friendly and right over the road from the Esplanade which is a child's dream...also great big you love walkhng/running/biking. Highly recommend!

I loved the place...the spa bath was a little aged, shower pressure is average. The beds down stairs were OK, but the top bed had a firm area in the centre. Nothing that would stop me going back though

I was in Palmerston North for about 5 weeks, from late May until late June. I was traveling for work at Massey University, where I served as a temporary faculty for the summer, and I could not have had better accommodations. The Esplanade motel exceeded my expectations in every possible manner. The owners are absolutely lovely people, and made me feel at home for the entirety of my stay. I don't particularly enjoy traveling for as long as I did (5-6 weeks), but I could not have been made more comfortable during my time in PN. I was provided with fantastic venison burgers & ceviche by the owners, and they were extremely flexible with charging during my time, especially considering I was at their property for over a month. I will be back in PN later this year, and I already know 100% where I'll be staying- I wouldn't consider staying at any other property after my experience, which was again, absolutely top notch. I can't wait to get back and see the owners again- I highly recommend anyone traveling to PN, especially those who will be working at Massey (barely a mile to the campus), to stay at the Esplanade.

The only downside to my stay was that I was 16 hours ahead of the US, so the NBA finals were on at inopportune times. I had no bad experiences directly related with my stay at the Esplanade- the staff were lovely, the room was clean and I was provided with fresh linens multiple times a week. I can't complain about any part of my stay at the Esplanade, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in Palmerston North.

Clean and spacious

Shower control was broken and keep falling off even though we had been told about it and tried to be careful with it. It also looked like it had been faulty for a while as there were a lot of marks where it had fallen onto the tiles. It needs to be repaired or replaced.

Location not far from city centre, nice staff.

The spa bath's own power button on the bath tub doesn't work. There is a power switch on the wall where the bathroom light switch is with "spa" printed on down the bottom , but first I didn't notice and thought it's not working. One of my family member missed the spa bath which he would like to enjoy. Also it's not so convienent to turn it off when you have to come out and walk to bathroom door to do it. It would be better if there is a big sign by the bathtub to remind traveller where the real switch is.

The fan was great as it was hot and the studio was very large and spacious and well away from the road and quiet.

It would have benefitted from an information booklet which is usual in NZ motels, and a better choice of TV channels. The 50 Sky channels motels like to say they have are often poor, with religious programming, cheap and nasty lifestyle channels, one-hour delays of free to air channels etc etc.

The staff on arrival and departure were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and had everything I needed. I had some room to spread out and do the work I needed over the weekend. There was also an electric blanket which I had become accustomed to at home so it was nice to feel like I wasn't that far from home. The location for me could not have been better as I was just around the corner from the people I was visiting.

The staff were amazing and because my little moko decided to come into this world early than expected Margaret was able to change dates with us. I would go back again. This was my second visit. Room was just what we need in between visits to the hospital etc.

Bathroom tap that would not turn off, but after a while we worked out how to stop it. No sky was a bugger but otherwise was great stay.

Location and tbe host, had a great collection of digital photoes in rooms and the conference centre.Hosts own photoes, was also selling some excellent ware on behalf of elderly mother. Easy to find and on a main road.

Could be a bit noisey till later but the location is also handy to the awa, park run and famous gardens. Also a greatchildrens playground in thegardens across the road.

Location is close to the city but not too far out. Great hosts, very accommodating and really easy to get along with. Room is always immaculately clean and has everything in it you would need. We try to book the same room each visit as it suits our requirements.

Sometimes, the wifi is intermittent, but it is not a concern as we are not in the room for any length of time to rely on it.
