We had a group in the 6-bunk room, it worked very well as the beds are decent, there is a bathroom inside the room, and apart from being a little squished, the stay was very comfortable. The facilities are great including the shared bathrooms, with large shower rooms and clean spaces, the kitchen was also very good with large fridges and everything you need. The wifi worked well and although you can't change the air con temperature you can open the window slightly when it gets too warm. Great storage for snowboards/skis and there is a laundry available but we didn't use it.

The windows do not open all the way, just slightly, and with 6 people sleeping it can get hot. Some of the corridors had odd smells from poor ventilation, but the common areas like bathroom and kitchen were perfectly fine so it didn't bother us too much.

It’s in the city centre! Lots of shops, restaurants, small grocer, bakery, airport bus stop and a convenience store. They also have laundry too! The staff are also all helpful and bathroom is always clean.

They don’t have a female dorm :( I stayed here for 8 nights and had to endure sharing a room with a guy who snored so loud, zero care about his belongings scattered around the room, not considerate, takes phone calls early in the morning. It made me uncomfortable but had no choice but endure it because I have a problem with my knees and don’t want to give up my bottom bunk bed.

Great view as we had the top floor corner room facing the mountains! It was a very central place within Queenstown and it was easy to walk around to all the local restaurants and a few public transport options. The hot water heated up very quickly. There is a shared kitchen and some chill out spaces within the hostel and there's a few organised activities that you can join in on eg. movie nights at the hostel.

The bathroom sink was fairly small which would be ok except the shelf above it stuck out as much as the sink. This made it a bit hard to use. The location was central which meant that nightlife could be heard nearly every night (stayed for a week, only Mon and Tues were quiet) - could hear the nearby bars pumping music and people loudly talking up till midnight usually. There is an option to make a noise complaint after 11pm but we were tired enough to sleep through the noise.

Good beds, lift access? Shared bathroom was nice and large and had lots of hooks to hang clothes and stuff. Shares kitchen has a terrific view. Fridge storage comes with labeled containers to keep food separate and easy to find from other guests .. Staff were lovely. Would stay again! Recommended for 28yo+.. some of the other hostels are a bit young with the average age around 22.

Shower in room could have been full sized.

Staff was absolutely wonderful here! The beds were very comfortable, and they have nice facilities. I was there for Christmas and really appreciated the staff's efforts to do something for us. They kept the facilities extremely clean.

I wish the lounge room was a bit bigger. To be fair, I was there during a very busy time but it would be nice to have more space to hang out with other travelers. The rooms were a bit small so every time someone packed, it felt like they were right next to you (I was on the bottom bunk and perhaps it would have been different on the top). Would be great in the future to have same sex dorms as well.

What stood out most compared to other hostels in town was their staff. I found them to go above and beyond to offer help and hospitality. There was one woman in particular, who helped me prep for a wedding, that was the best staff member of a hostel that I met in my 3 months traveling in New Zealand. She clearly cared and was invested in resolving my problems. That is a rare things these days! in addition, the location is ideal, centered right next to downtown and the harbor area. The amenities are modern and the building has a good security system, especially for those needing bike storage. There is a media room on the first floor that is fully equipped with Netflix and movies. also, HUGE bonus -> they sell Dr. Bronners soap here, and the quality is worth the price. treat yourself! overall, this place is a gem, don't miss out.

I got nothing for you.

The location of Absoloot Hostel, if you are NOT driving, is great. The room was spacious with a fantastic view over the harbor, Queenstown Park, and The Remarkables mountain range. The views were stunning. The bed was really comfortable and the automatic air-conditioning setting was perfect. Lots of restaurants, bars, pubs, and cafes within steps of the hostel.

We arrived Saturday evening at 1900 and it was difficult just to drive to the hostel due to the throngs of pedestrians and traffic. I could not find any parking in the areas designated on the map the hostel sent me. I eventually found underground parking on my own. The shelf over the bathroom sink is poorly designed; it is too low and washing my face or brushing my teeth was awkward. Know that if you have the suite overlooking the lake, the noise from Friday and Saturday night revelers will keep you awake until 1AM or so.

The staff at the front desk were great. They dealt with, and even remembered, one-offs like me. My dorm bed was incredibly comfortable. The space in the room was really good. And being able to shut off with the curtain into a very comfortable bed with light etc was a new, and great, experience for me. Having my luggage under the bed was really reassuring. The communal areas are really small, however, the kitchen on the second floor had world class views, and I hung out there. Oh, and I like that older and younger people were there.

Only to be picky, it was a bit stuffy because communal space is limited. And the toilets didnt flush very well. But that is only to be picky. I like the communal bathroom approach. And the communal kitchen was small, but it worked really well.

Fantastic to be right in the heart and lake-front area of Queenstown. Perfect to be able to pop back up to our room in between activities and use our own bathroom, have a quick lie down rest and the kids got a quick chill-out game time. The kitchen is fantastic, great views of bustling activity down below and bits of the lake. Especially nice in the early morning to just sit at the bench with a coffee and have such a quiet peaceful few minutes. Our room had 4 bunks and it's own toilet and shower. Awesome water pressure with the shower! Good sized fridge to keep water bottles cold (and food of course) Heat pump, which we cranked onto cold as it was very warm in there. Beds were comfy, but mine was a bit hard. Fantastic having the "privacy curtain" for your bed, My Kids Loved that, and each bed had a usb plug and a reading light at the side of the wall. Really great set-up. Big Lockers under the beds to store suitcases. Bring your own padlocks to secure them, or you can buy padlocks at reception. The elevator was a bonus, especially after such full-on days. Fabulous friendly staff! Oh, and DON'T Bring a Car. Such a nightmare to find parking and soooo expensive. I got a car on our last day and that was a bit of a mission.

Having to leave..... And I forgot to buy a Tee-shirt... We left too early in the morning.

The location of the Hostel, the staff, the people, very clean and super cozy !

I know it is a hostel, and I am not complaing just to complain, unless maybe it can be an ideea to improve: (1) The laundry machines and facility ... It is a hostel, there are a lot of young people on budget, the laundry facility is a plus ... but if it is available to all the people, not only for the guest ... it is very difficult to find a spot, at least I could not find one whithout waiting for hours. (2) The noise in the evening, I know it is Holiday season, I know people are having fun ... perfect, but the windows soundprof quality is rather low.
